Current 7th Grade Students: If you are currently a 7th-grade student and would like to begin making plans to travel to Washington, DC, and New York, the summer following your 8th-grade year, plan now to attend an informational meeting and sign-up on Monday, November 5, 2018. Do you have a Veteran in your family?? Would you like to honor them this Veteran’s Day? The following are some things that you can do.

1. Bring a photo of your Veteran to be put on our Wall of Freedom outside the library. You can bring them anytime – starting tomorrow – deadline is November 2.

2. Invite them to our assembly to honor our Veteran’s. 2:00 – November 9. This year’s honorees are the Women in the Military, but ALL Veterans are welcome to attend.

If you are interested in any of these – there is more information is in the office.

"This week, October 22nd - 26th, is National Red Ribbon Week at SWMS. Red Ribbon week is an alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention awareness campaign widely celebrated across the United States. This year, we will be celebrating Red Ribbon week with the following activities:

Thursday - BLACK OUT drugs day! Wear black to show your commitment to live a drug-free life.

*Also on Thursday, SWMS Teens Against Tobacco Use members will be visiting 7th grade study hall classrooms to share what TATU is all about!

Friday - TEAM UP against drugs! Support your favorite sports team while promoting a drug free lifestyle. Team jerseys, t-shirts, socks, etc. all welcome!

*Also on Friday, check out the pledge to be drug free in the lunch room completed by this quarter’s art classes!”

Help Needed: KIWANIS FOOD DRIVE on Saturday October 27, meet at the St. Frances Catholic Church @ 9 am to distribute blue bags around town. Then on Saturday November 3, meet there again and pick up the food bags. You can either come by yourself or get 3-4 of your friends and make a team! This is the biggest food drive of the year and we need plenty of volunteers. Each day will be about 2 hours. Contact Mrs. Nonnast with further questions

Congratulations: to the Middle School Knowledge Bowl team on taking 1st place in the Northern Hills Division which is all 9 schools that compete Good Luck to them as the compete in the finals to be held November 3rd

Best of Luck to the Taekwondo students: who have a big test coming up on Saturday, October 27th. Kylee Phillips and Owen Koontz will be testing for their 2nd degree Black Belts and Ella Atyeo, Austin Atyeo, and Talon Koontz will be testing for their Black Belts.

Please keep your plastic bottle lids/caps. Art club will be needing these for a project. There are totes in the lunch room, main office, and art rooms (Ag building) to collect them.
