While on the council she served on the executive board of the Puget Sound Regional Council, on the board of directors for Sound Cities Association and on other regional committees. Mia has been a surgical assistant and business manager in the dental field for more than 16 years. She has degrees from Highline Community college and the University of Washington. Dan Satterberg http://www.kingcounty.gov/Prosecutor.aspx A Seattle area native, Dan is a graduate of Highline High school, the University of Washington, and the University of Washington Law School. Joining the King County Prosecutor’s Office in 1985, he succeeded the late Norm Maleng in 2007 to lead the office. Dan enjoys playing in his nine-piece classic rock dance-party band, The Approximations. Dave Kaplan http://www.desmoineswa.gov/index.aspx?nid=115 Before being elected and appointed as Mayor of Des Moines, Dave Kaplan served as a pro tem mayor for the past two years, and served as a councilmember from 1998 through 2001, and again from 2006 to the present. Judge Veronica Alicea-Galvan http://www.desmoineswa.gov/index.aspx?nid=150 Judge Galvan graduated from the University of Washington School of Law and served as assistant city attorney for the city of Seattle. She took the bench in 2001 and was appointed to serve as the judge for the City of Des Moines in 2007. She currently serves as Vice President of the District and municipal Court Judges’ Association, and teaches Spanish for lawyers at Seattle University School of Law. Judge James Docter http://www.ci.bremerton.wa.us/display.php?id=53 Judge Docter has served for the City of Bremerton since 1997, when he was elected as their first municipal court judge in the city’s history. Prior to serving as judge, he worked as a public defender for nine years and also worked in the Peace Corps in Guatemala for two years. He currently serves as Dean and faculty member for the Washington State Judicial College. Judge Elizabeth M. Cordi-Bejarano www.ci.seatac.wa.us/court Judge Bejarano graduated from University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1991. Concentrating her practice in misdemeanor criminal law, she served as both a prosecutor and defense attorney before serving as a judge pro tem for numerous jurisdictions in King and Pierce Counties beginning in 1998. She was appointed as Court Commissioner for the City of Auburn in 2007, and then as Municipal Court Judge for the City of SeaTac in 2008. Katie Whittier Ms. Whittier graduated from the University of Idaho Summa cum Laude, has worked for the Idaho State Senate, the American Cancer Society, the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival, AFSCME, before joining Senator Patty Murray, initially as Southwest Washington Director and now serving as King County Director Norm Rice Before serving two terms as Seattle’s Mayor from 1989 – 1997, Mr. Rice worked as a reporter at KOMO-TV News and KIXI radio. He also served as Assistant Director of the Seattle Urban League, and as Executive Assistant and Director of Government Services for the Puget Sound Council of Governments. He was elected to the Seattle City Council in 1978, then re-elected in 1979, 1983, and 1987. After serving as Mayor, he served as CEO and President of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle. In 2009, He was named CEO of the non-profit Seattle Foundation. As a graduate of both Highline Community College and University of Washington, Former Mayor Rice was first recipient of the Highline Community College Distinguished Alumni Award in 1990. Entertainers Internationally recognized, Wanz received three Grammys for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for the smash hit “Thrift Shop”, along with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and as a contributor to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ award-winning Best Rap Album www.wanzmusic.com Ty Barnett Ty Barnett, comedian, actor and writer, started his career as a comedian at the Comedy Underground in Seattle. He has appeared on numerous television shows including “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” “The Late Late Show,” HBO’s “Bad Boys of Comedy,” VH1’s “Black to the Future,” “Comics Unleashed,” “Last Comic Standing,” “Comedy Central Presents,” Fox’s “Til Death,” and ABC’s “Samantha Who?” John Keister John Keister has worked as a comedian, emcee, keynote speaker, writer, director, commentator, motivational speaker and actor for over twenty years. He is widely known as host of the sketch comedy television show, “Almost Live,” which ran from 1988 – 1998. A UW graduate, he also starred in “The John Report with Bob,” and has given political commentary on KCTS, served as a writer on the public television series, “The Eyes of Nye,” and “Bizkid$” and teaches Video Production classes at the Art Institute of Seattle. He currently stars in a new comedy show, “The 206” aired weekly on KING-TV. .
