North Lawndale Employment Network
NLEN METHODOLOGIES NLEN North Lawndale Employment Network Program Methodologies The mission of the North Lawndale Employment Network is to improve the earnings potential of North Lawndale residents through innovative employment initiatives that lead to economic advancement and an improved quality of life . FORWARD FORWARD America has more of its people in prison than any other developed nation in the world — more than two million. The vast majority — 95 percent of the men and women in our prisons — will eventually return to the community. That means that every year more than 650,000 offenders are released from state and federal prisons and return to civilian life. These men and women deserve a second chance. Their families deserve a second chance and their communities deserve a second chance. A second chance means an opportunity to turn a life around. A chance to break the grip of a drug habit. A chance to support a family, to pay taxes, and to be self-sufficient. Today few of those who return to their communities are prepared for their release or receive any supportive services. When the prison door swings open, an ex-offender may receive a bus ticket and spending money for a day or two. Many leave prison to return to the same environment which saw them offend in the first place. But as they return they often face additional barriers to re-entry: serious physical and mental health problems, no place to stay, and lack of education or qualifications to hold a job. Two out of three will be re-arrested for new crimes within three years of release. -
YG Entertainment (122870 KQ ) Buying Opportunity Amid Shifting Perceptions
YG Entertainment (122870 KQ ) Buying opportunity amid shifting perceptions Entertainment Shifting perceptions: 1) Normalized lineup and new artist momentum Concerns over YG Entertainment’s artist void are dissipating. The company’s star group Big Bang is preparing to make a comeback, and at least one new act will debut this Company Report year. The company will have a total of five groups that can go on overseas arena tours, February 27, 2020 and we see potential for additional growth. Big Bang will make its long-awaited comeback at the US Coachella festival in April. With their contract almost certain to be renewed, the group is likely to release a new album and embark on a world tour. We expect to see additional positive headlines soon . BLACKPINK is set to make its return with the release of a new album around April , which (Upgrade) Buy is likely to include major collaborations related to its partnership with Universal Music Group . The group is also planning to tour the US and Europe, and the minimum Target Price (12M, W) 40,000 guarantee for the concerts is likely to be raised from last year, leading to a meaningful profit contribution. Meanwhile, iKON returned to the stage in early 2020 as a six-member Share Price (02/26/20, W) 31,750 group. For Treasure 12, whose debut was postponed for a year due to a scandal, the company is currently working on pre-marketing ahead of the group’s official debut. Expected Return 26% Shifting perceptions: 2) Discontinuation of loss-making operations to accelerate profit improvement YG Entertainment is unloading its new businesses and instead focusing on its core OP (19P, Wbn) 1 businesses. -

YG Entertainment (122870 KQ ) Global Platform Revenue Exhibits Strong Growth
YG Entertainment (122870 KQ ) Global platform revenue exhibits strong growth 3Q18 review: Parent and YouTube both better than expected Entertainment For 3Q18, YG Entertainment reported consolidated revenue of W65.2bn (-13.3% YoY ) and operating profit of W2.6bn (+77.8% YoY). Operating profit fell short of our Results Comment estimate, which did not include content production losses (W1.7bn ). Still, we believe the company pe rformed in line with market expectations, considering the unfavorable November 12, 2018 earnings variables it faced in the quarter. Revenue from YouTube was also better than expected. Despite a widely anticipated void in concerts, Seungri, iKON, and BLACKPINK made great strides in the quarter. In particular, 1) BLACKPINK’s success drove robust digital (Maintain) Buy music revenue (W14.1bn; -11.3% YoY). 2) In addition, revenue from YouTube, a key area of focus, grew strongly to more than W3bn, likely exceeding the 1H18 total. Even after excluding one-time revenue from G-Dragon ’s documentary, YouTube revenue was Target Price (12M, W) 60,000 better than our expectation of W2bn. We believe domestic digital music sales, a relatively stable source of income, and global platform sales (YouTube ads, Apple Share Price (11/09/18, W) 36,200 Music/Spotify licensing, etc.), a fast-growing source of income, will both continue to make an increasing contribution to profits. Expected Return 66% 3) The content production business recorded a loss of W1.7bn (vs. loss of W10.1bn in 4Q17-2Q18), due to higher-than-expected fixed costs. Upcoming programs include YG Treasure Box and another new title for Netflix (NFLX US/CP: US$301.00). -

ARTICLES THE ICON IN THE PICTURE: REFRAMING THE QUESTION OF DOSTOEVSKY'S VOLUME 48, NUMBER 1 SPRING 2004 MODERNIST ICONOGRAPHY SLAVIC AND Jefferson J. A. Gatrall, Columbia University EAST EUROPEAN JOURNAL 1. Icon or Picture? The analogy between pictures and realist prose has long been a mainstay of literary criticism on the novel. At once extending and challenging this critical heritage, a growing body of scholarship on the nineteenth-century Russian novel has sought to reconceptualize traditional problems of realist representation through the prism of iconography. In the case of Dostoevsky, such criticism has overwhelmingly adopted the Orthodox icon as its master analog: his prose has been described as a "narrative icon," his urban land- scapes as "imaginary icons," and his characters as "living icons."1 This turn to the Orthodox icon in Dostoevsky scholarship over the past two decades has been motivated in part by a desire to dcenter Western-oriented accounts of the rise of the Realist novel. Erich Auerbach, for instance, relegates Dostoevsky to a subordinate position in his triumphal procession of Western mimesis, arguing that nineteenth-century Russian Realism as a whole is "fundamentally related rather to old-Christian than to modern occidental realism" (520-24). By contrast, a number of recent critics have situated Dostoevsky in an alternative Russian grand narrative by emphasizing the Published by the American Association ways in which the author's incorporation of Eastern Orthodox iconography into Of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages his novelistic craft augured Modernism's constitutive break from the mimetic AATSEEL of the U.S., Inc. -
