Bloom’s Taxonomy Analyze- Students will compare/contrast and organize information about different historical figures. Levels: Evaluate- Justify a stand or decision. Students will take a stand on an issue and explain how they can make a difference.

Create- Produce new or original work. Students will work in teams to create a short dramatic presentation representing their historical figure and the contributions he/she made.

Objective: Students will be able to identify 2-3 contributions of each historical figure, and how they impact the world today.

For students to know the contributions of historical figures in Virginia. Goals: -How does the work these people did impact your life today? (answer this for each five people). -Empower students to know they can make a difference in their community.

Terms to Know: -Contribution→ the act of giving or doing something.

1. Powhatan: He was an American Indian leader when the settlers came to Jamestown. He ruled over many tribes. 2. Pocahontas: She was an American Indian girl, daughter of Powhatan, who came with her father’s people to visit the settlers at Jamestown. She worked to help the settlers receive food from the American Indians. 3. Christopher Newport: He was an English explorer who brought additional people and supplies to the Jamestown settlement. 4. Maggie L. Walker: She was the first African American woman in the United States to establish a bank and become a bank president. 5. Arthur R. Ashe, Jr.: He was the first African American winner of a major men’s tennis singles championship. He was a leader for civil rights and worked for equality for all people.
