PART #2 Today is the first of two days on the 95+ mile ride POUDRE CANYON RD. from Ft. Collins to Walden. It is a beautiful ride – a long, gradual climb up the TO STOVE PRAIRIE canyon and over Cameron Pass (10,276 ft.) into LANDING ’s North Park valley. However, traffic can be heavy on weekends in the Summer and Fall.

There are a large number of public & private NARRATIVE (cont.): campgrounds, lodgings & eateries along this first day’s ride, but there are no services on tomorrow’s 13.5 Continue west on SR 14 route. Thus you should bring food from Fort Collins 18.0 Columbine Lodge on the right for one or two days, especially if you will spend your overnight tonight at a campground. 21.7 Mishawaka Inn (restaurant) on the right

been pedaling all the way from Washington, DC, your body should have no problem in handling the effects of altitude, except for shortness of breath.

60.5 CHAMBERS LAKE CAMPGROUND, CO --  USFS Chambers Lake Campground (970-295-6700 for info.), ¾ mile off of SR 14, located in the Arapahoe & Roosevelt National Forest. 44 RV sites and 7 walk-in sites for tents only, water spigots, vault toilets. Snow keeps this 9,200' campground closed until late June, and it is open only through late September. It is one of the most popular and top rated high-country camping experiences in Colorado, and thus reservations should be made well in advance.
