For many artists and fans, folk metal is more than just music: it is a way of revitalising tradition. Folk metal is then a genre which is closely related to individual‟s cultural identities. As part of popular culture, heavy metal has been investigated for instance in the fields of cultural studies and psychology. Andrew Brown investigates how heavy metal emerged as subject for academic research. Deena Weinstein approaches heavy metal as culture and behaviour that is shared by individuals from different cultural backgrounds. However, subgenres like folk metal have not yet been explored in depth by academics. Analysing folk metal‟s nuances in specific national contexts would provide further knowledge on national cultures and identities. One example of folk metal reflecting elements of national culture is Finnish folk metal. The bands whose works belong to this genre usually draw from Finnish culture to compose their works, which usually feature stories from a variety of traditional sources such as the epic book Kalevala. Such stories are then transposed into new media, disseminating the artists‟ concept of Finnishness.

Gimnazija Ravne na Koroškem Korpiklaani. Pisna predstavitev. Ravne na Kor, Gimnazija Ravne, 2010 2 1 UVOD V tej pisni nalogi bom poskušal predstaviti mojo najljubšo skupino Korpiklaane. Govoril bom o nastanku in začetkih te finske skupine, ki je v svetu dokaj znana, in je dokaz, da se lahko moderni metal in tradicionalna finska glasba, popolno ujemata. Upam da se bom še dodatno kaj naučil in da bom poglobil znanje o tej skupini, ki me spremlja že eno leto. 2 SPLOŠNO O SKUPINI Skupina trenutno sestavlja šest članov to so: Korpiklaani. Pisna predstavitev. Ravne na Kor, Gimnazija Ravne, 2010 3 -Jonne Järvelä – vokali, kitara -Jaakko "Hittavainen" Lemmetty- violina -Kalle "Cane" Savijärvi- kitara, vokali -Matti "Matson" Johansson - bobni -Jarkko Aaltonen – bas kitara -Juho Kauppinen- harmonika Slika 1: skupina Skupina igra folk metal, to je zvrst metala, ki vsebuje klasične metalske instrumente ( kitara, bobni, bas kitara), ter tradicionalna glasbila npr.: harmonika, violina, dude,… Lirike pesmi so ponavadi povezane z naravo, vojno, alkoholom, ženskami, mitologijo, vojne Rusije z Finsko; pesmi so zelo lepo melodično obarvane, ampak močna slabost je pa to, da nepoznavalec te skupine, ne bo ločil ene pesmi od druge, če jih prej še ni slišal (s podobno težavo se soočajo tudi v skupini Sonata Artica, ki je folk, power, melodik metal skupina). Posebnost skupine je tudi to, da je dodala metal k folk glabi in ne obratno, kakor druge skupine npr.: Finntroll, to izjavo uporablja zelo velikokrat Jonne Järvelä. 3 ZAČETKI SKUPINE Glede glasbenih dejavnostih v mladosti lahko pišem samo o Jonnetu in Jarkkonu, saj ni na voljo informacij o ostalih članih.

Considerados como la especie más inteligente del planeta, los seres humanos hemos evidenciado una y otra vez la poca gratitud y respeto hacia lo que nos ha permitido vivir. Un ciclo que se presenta sin fin, en el que los seres humanos modifican, corrompen y destruyen el entorno y la forma natural de las cosas. A su vez, los sentimientos que expresamos tienen la capacidad de generar alegría o tristeza, amor u odio, vivimos una bipolaridad exhaustiva y desgastante, que ha excluido la felicidad y la bondad en las sociedades efímeras de nuestros tiempos. Nos sentimos abrumados, y al mismo tiempo, maravillados por los “logros” y “progresos” de los hombres “civilizados”, pero en el fondo no somos más que arena en el desierto. El creciente desinterés y la nula importancia por sucesos cotidianos que involucran violencia, muerte, injusticia, corrupción, y demás, revelan el carácter individualista del ser humano. Todo esto producto de una marcada tendencia a la irracionalidad y del creciente y devastador apego consciente o inconsciente al sistema capitalista. La irrelevancia de la realidad se mezcla y a la vez se contra posiciona con la afección a la irrealidad que han producido la revolución de las tecnologías, con el uso excesivo y deliberado de medios de comunicación como el internet y sus redes sociales.

No persze, amikor én még áltisis voltam, éppen csak megalakult a zenekar (1990), de talán majd az utókor lesz ilyen szeren- csés...!” 1 1. Napjaink egyik legismertebb finn kulturális exportcikke a metálzene. 2 Ez a tény az ország és a finn kultúra egy újabb, kortárs sztereotípiáját és ezzel párhuzamosan egy modern mítosz szüle- tését, alakulását demonstrálja. A finn metálzene az 1990-es évektől népszerű a nemzetközi ze- nei életben (is), számos heavy metál típust képviselnek az ország együttesei (death, black, góti- kus, szimfonikus, folk és viking metál). A finn metálzene népszerűségével foglalkozó tanulmá- nyában Matti Riekki úgy látja, hogy a világhíres finn bandák egyediek, mert többféle stílust kombinálnak és új zenei utakat fedeznek fel. A sikeresség okát a következőkben látja: „a hó, és a hosszan tartó, sötét, hideg tél. Kereshetjük a választ az erdőben is, a fák mögött. […] Amikor a komor finn mentalitás elvágyódó melódiákkal találkozik az eredmény valami olyasféle, amit nem találsz meg máshol” (Riekki 2007).
