La popolazione lo aspetta con grande simpatia e i turisti scoprono una Lugano creativa e spumeggiante. FESTIVAL LUGANO Per tutti è l’occasione di vivere un mese all’insegna del 02.07 – 14.07 bello e del coinvolgimento creativo. LONGLAKE Colpiscono in particolare, di questo Festival, il modo ori- ginale di aggregare gli eventi, la coesione e la coerenza PAROLE e MONDI FESTIVAL LUGANO che strutturano le proposte. Grazie alla partecipazione e al coinvolgimento di organizzatori privati è stato possibile 25.06 – 25.07 anche quest’anno ridurre i costi e allo stesso tempo arric- chire il programma. LONGLAKE Le capacità degli artisti locali, accostate alle doti degli FESTIVAL LUGANO artisti internazionali, hanno permesso di confezionare un 15.07 – 19.07 programma di qualità, molto variegato e adatto a tutti gli interessi e a tutte le età. Si possono incontrare a Lugano LONGLAKE artisti e appassionati che partecipano a festival interna- URBAN zionali in ogni angolo di mondo. ART FESTIVAL LUGANO I grandi concerti in Piazza della Riforma si sono consolidati 25.06 – 25.07 e in Piazza Manzoni è stato esteso il periodo di animazione del LongLake con i villaggi di giugno e di agosto, grazie LONGLAKE all’iniziativa dei diversi locali cittadini. Inoltre, si inizia ad usare uno spazio molto prezioso per la città come l’Ex FESTIVAL LUGANO Macello, con l’offerta del Family Festival. 25.06 – 25.07 Un altro segno caratteristico che dà grande dinamismo a questo Festival è la giovinezza del team organizzativo e il consistente coinvolgimento dei giovani durante tutto l’arco della manifestazione e dell’estate. Par la suite, nous avons passé le reste de l’après-midi au Marché By à découvrir les nombreuses boutiques qu’il y avait. Cette activité a eu un taux de participation impres- sionnant. Heeding the legacies of reggae forefathers like Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, and Bob Marley, the Revival is a creative community of millennial artists and activists who have used music to disseminate Black Power, anti-colonial thought, and self-determination. Artists like Oje “Protoje” Olliviere and Jamar “Chronixx” McNaughton Jr. have spearheaded this movement with songs like “Wrong Side of the Law” (2011) and “Here Comes Trouble” (2014), respectively. Using an interdisciplinary framework that incorporates an intersectional lens of race and gender, as well as methodologies of History, Anthropology, Ethnomusicology, Performance Theory, and Black Feminist Theory, this thesis serves to connect two generations of reggae activism.

    Michael Goldwasser Record Producer/Songwriter/Musician/DJ Internationally known record producer Michael Goldwasser has gone from being a teenager playing in clubs all over New York City to ruling the Billboard Reggae Charts. He founded his record label, Easy Star Records, in 1996, and while many other independent labels have come and gone, Easy Star has become a leading independent reggae label, adapting to changes in the industry and continuing to flourish. Michael is the mastermind behind a unique musical genre - taking classic albums and re-imagining them as reggae. His production Dub Side of the Moon, a reggae version of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, is one of the best-selling independent reggae releases of this decade, and has been praised by Pink Floyd guitarist/vocalist David Gilmour himself. Likewise, the members of Radiohead are all fans of his album Radiodread, a reggae version of their classic OK Computer. His album, Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band is an adaptation of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper album, and it not only held the #1 spot on the Billboard Reggae Chart upon release, but it was the first reggae album to crack the Billboard Top 200 in over two years. The most recent album in the tribute series produced by Michael is Easy Star’s Thrillah, a complete reggae version of Michael Jackson’s Thriller album. Michael has written, produced, arranged, and played on many of Easy Star’s releases, and has worked with some of the biggest names in reggae including Matisyahu, Steel Pulse, Third World, Luciano, Sugar Minott, Toots & the Maytals, Sister Carol, The Meditations, Ranking Joe, Frankie Paul, Morgan Heritage, Israel Vibration, Horace Andy, Sister Nancy, and Half Pint.
