iv tr. THE TRANSLATION A Concise Sadhana for Innate Kalachakra

o. PROLOGUE

OM AH HUNG HO HANG KHYA NAMAH

1. Refuge and Bodhicitta

If [you] have even a little faith in the concise Innate [Kalachakra], then you should go for refuge, generate the mind [of Bodhicitta] and strengthen your intention by reciting:

I go for refuge until I am enlightened, To the Buddha, the Dharma and the Supreme Assembly. By the virtuous created by generosity and so forth, May I attain the state of for the benefit of all beings. (3x)

Thus make manifest the meaning [of these words] as much as possible.

2. Purification of the Mind

Instantly invoke [] with:

On the crown of yourself and others, abiding on a lotus and moon [disc is] Vajrasattva. [With] a body white in colour, he has one face, two arms and is holding a and bell. [He] embraces his consort Vajratopa who holds a curved knife and skullcup. Primordial wisdom adorns [their bodies] in the form of all [manner of vajra] ornaments.

Then make the wisdom beings inseparable from the pledge being with:

DZA HUNG VAM HOH

Then offer supplications single-pointedly with:

Please exhaust quickly all of the obscurations such as the faults and downfalls of all sentient beings, both of myself and others who are identical with the beings of the three realms!

1 From this request, immeasurable accumulations of the clearlight of primordial wisdom and nectar enter through the crown of your head and all stains are discarded like the skin of a snake. Without becoming distracted, focus the mind again and again while reciting:

OM VAJRASATTVA MANUPALAYA | VAJRASATTVA TENOPHA | TITHO MEBHAWA | SUTOKAYO MEBHAWA | SUPOKAYO MEBHAWA | ANURAKTO MEBHAWA | SARVASIDDHI MAME PRAYATSA | SARVA KARMA SUTSAME | CHITTAM SHRIYAM KURU HUNG | HA HA HA HA HO | BHAGAWAN SARVA TATHAGATA | VAJRA MAME MUNTSA | VAJRI BHAWA MAHA SAMAYA SATVA AH

Or [alternatively] recite the 100 syllables of Heruka [Vajrasattva] as many times as you can. [Either way, you] should then confess, restrain [the mind] and purify by reciting:

Great protector, due to ignorance and confusion I have broken my samaya and let them decline. Compassionate Vajrasattva, please purify my negativities and protect me. In you I take refuge, supreme vajra holder, treasure of compassion and rescuer of all beings.

I confess all downfalls of my body, speech and mind, including all breaches of my root and branch vows. Please purify and cleanse all the stains, downfalls and negative obscurations amassed during beginningless time in cyclic existence.

Vajrasattva Yab-yum, with great joy, transforms into a white moon and dissolves through the crown of your head. Vajrasattva’s divine body, speech, mind and indestructible primordial wisdom are now inseparable from your own.

3. Meditation on Emptiness

[Think that] all phenomena, are primordially empty of their own nature, then, in an isolated place, bring to mind the ground that is not established in any way, the space-like wisdom-vajra [that is] absolute reality, then recite:

OM SHUNYATA GYANA VAJRA SWABHAVA ATMAKO HANG

4. Self-Generation as Innate Kalachakra

From [within this] state of emptiness, at the navel, a syllable OM [transforms into] a green eight-petalled lotus. On top [of this lotus] are moon, sun, rahu [and] kalagni discs [on which] appears Kalachakra from the syllable HUNG and a vajra.

2 He has one body and two hands. Holding a vajra and bell, he embraces his consort. [His] red right leg is extended and tramples the heart of the red Kamadeva, while [his] left is white and bent, trampling the heart of white Raudra. [He wears] a garment of tiger skin.

Vishvamata is yellow, with one body, two hands and holds a curved knife and skullcup. [Her] left leg is extended [and her] right bent. [She stands] in union with the powerful one. Both are adorned with vajra ornaments and have three eyes.

Radiating light from six places [are the syllables]:

OM AH HUM HO HANG KHYA

Reflect on the nature of the six families and visualise [yourself] clearly asthe wisdom truth body. Then, after realizing this, with light rays radiating from the heart, try to abide in the omnipresent wisdom beings that pervade space [by reciting:]

DZA HUNG BAM HOH HI

5. Establishing Divine Pride

Making the wisdom and pledge beings inseparable, humbly request:

I pray to the holders of vajra body, speech and mind to manifestly bestow the empowerments.

Those goddesses of the , holding vases of nectar, bestow the empowerments. All stains are purified [and your crown] is sealedajrasattva. byV Think [that you are] continually blessed by the three residing at the brow, throat and heart, while saying:

OM SARVA TATHAGATA KAYA VAK CHITTA SVABHAVA ATMAKO HANG

After evenly joining the Yab-Yum, visualise the four joys coming from above [to the navel], while saying:

OM GYANA PUTSA ANURAKTA SVABHAVA ATMAKO HANG

Once again, in the same way, approaching gradually, visualise the four joys [descending into] the lower [tip of the central channel], while saying:

OM SARVA TATHAGATA ADHIPATI VAJRASATTVA HANG DURDENTA DAMAKA HUNG HUNG PHAT SVAHA

Thus, rest single-pointedly [in] the visualisation of [this] unification of all wisdom deities.

3 6. Recitation of Mantra

After that, collectively visualise all ultimate as the six syllables from before: OM AH HUNG HOH HANG KYA and joined with SVAHA or for pacifying with NAMAH. Joining these together, repeat [the mantra] many [times], trying your best to not be distracted.

OM AH HUNG HOH HANG KYA SVAHA

If [you] desire to repeat the mantra of the ten-fold syllable of power and so forth, then [practice as described] in the extensive description of Innate Kalachakra. Furthermore, in accordance with the teachings, make offerings, praises and so forth.

7. Dedication

In reliance upon these virtues, may all sentient beings quickly attain the that abides permanently within itself. c. COLOPHON
