Dxpedition Report from Rose Spit, Haida Gwaii
Rose Spit mini-DXpedition 11 July, 2011. Rose Spit loggings for 11 July, 2011: Medium Wave and Long Wave Here is a compilation of what I heard on an overnight DC only DXpedition to Rose Spit, about 25 km from the closest power lines, on the north east corner of Haida Gwaii. This spit is sandy, and covered in short grasses and strawberry plants, so ideal for remote DXpeditions, as it is accessible by 4x4 wheel drive vehicles. Conditions were not very good with the A index around 13, and K indices between 2 and 4, and solar flux at 90.6. The loggings below on MW are almost all from using a 750’ BOG aimed at New Zealand, unterminated. Here’s an aerial photo of the Spit. I was located just a few hundred meters past the tree line, in about the center of the spit, which faces N/NE. The larger photo below shows Rose Spit looking back to the West/South West to the treeline. Lot’s of room for BOGs! The figure below shows a view in the opposite direction down the spit to the N/NW where the 750’ BOGs were located. The NZ wire could have easily been double the distance. A more likely scenario for next time might be a phased BOG array towards NZ or dual Wellbrook delta loops. My wonderful DXpedition vehicle: A Nissan Frontier, 4 door, 4x4. Very comfortable, with a folding down front passenger seat, making a perfect platform for the radios and computer. Also a comfortable rear seat to sleep. -

Hello, My Name Is Igor and I Am a Russian by Birth. I Have Read A
Added 31 Jan 2000 "Hello, My name is Igor and I am a Russian by birth. I have read a lot about Islam, I have Arabic and Chechen friends and I read a lot about the Holy Koran and its teaching. I resent the drunkenness and stupidity of the Russian society and especially the gorrilla soldiers that are fighting against the noble Mujahideen in Chechnya. I would like to become a Muslim and in connection with this I would like to ask you to give me some guidance. Where do I go in Moscow for help in becoming a Muslim. Inshallah I can accomplish this with your help." [Igor, Moscow, Russia, 28 Jan 2000] "May Allah help you brothers. I am from Kuwait. All Kuwaitis are with you. We hope for you to win this war, inshallah very soon. If you want me to do anything for you, please tell me. I really feel ashamed sitting in Kuwait and you brothers are fighting the kuffar (disbelievers). Please tell me if we can come there with you, can we come?" [Brothers R and R, Kuwait, 30 Jan 2000] "Salam my Brave Mujahadeen who are fighting in Chechnya and the ones administrating this web site. Every day I come to this site several time just to catch a glimpse of the beautiful faces whom Allah has embraced shahadah and to get the latest news. I envy you O Mujahadeen, tears run into my eyes every time I hear any news and see any faces on this site. My beloved brothers, Allah has chosen you to reawaken Muslims around the world. -

THURSDAY 12 FEBRUARY 2015 FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH The road to the $750,000 TV3 New Zealand Derby continues this Saturday. The $100,000 Group Two Essilor New Zealand Avondale Guineas will answer many distance queries about Derby favorite Volkstok’n’barrell. The gelding will face his toughest test to date, over 2100m, with last start winner Mongolian Khan threatening to challenge. It is a thrilling race and a key preview for the upcoming three year old classic on the 28th of February. Tickets are available at http://www.ellerslie.co.nz/#!auckland-cup-week-derbyday/cma5 The Go Racing Syndications Avondale Gold Cup provides a preview of the $500,000 Group One Stella Artois Auckland Cup. The open handicap offers punters value on the weight scaling from 59kg to 52kg. Whoshot Thebarman went on to achieve the coveted double last year and further success in Melbourne. Pondarosa Miss and Perfect Start fit a similar mould of a progressive stayer and look well placed. Hooker Pacific Taranaki Cup day promises to highlight the best and boldest from the Central Districts. A fascinating clash between Kawi, Silverdale and Iamishwara beckons in the Cup. Each horse is looking to break their maiden Group status and in particular Kawi looks a promising type. The $75,000 Phoenix Park 2YO Classic is a difficult race to assess. Generally the juvenile races are highly reliant on front running tactics in New Plymouth, making barrier draws important for success. Expect a fast pace in the race. NEW ERA FOR TAB TRACKSIDE RADIO New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB) has announced TAB Trackside Radio is on the move, with all broadcasting set to take place out of its Auckland-based, purpose-built facility from 14 April 2015. -
