2021 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES Saturday, July 3, 2021 - 7:05 P.M 2021 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES Saturday, July 3, 2021 - 7:05 p.m. Canal Park - Akron, OH Bowie Baysox (30-20) @ Akron RubberDucks (30-21) RHP Grayson Rodriguez (3-0, 1.82 ERA) vs. RHP Zach Plesac (0-1, 10.80 ERA) Game #51 // Away Game #28 2021 SEASON Overall Record 30-20 About the Last One: Akron found a way to get the better of Bowie on Friday night, scoring a run to Home Record 14-9 tie the game in the ninth before winning it 7-6 in ten innings. The Baysox trailed 5-2 in the seventh, Road Record 16-11 Versus Northeast Division 16-8 before they rallied to take the lead. Kyle Stowers hit a rocketed line drive homer to right to lead off Versus Southwest Division 14-12 the inning. That was followed by Chris Hudgins’ second double of the day. Later in the frame with Series Record 6-3-0 one down, Adley Rutschman laced a two-RBI double to left field to tie the game at 5.     Records and History Old Dominion University Baseball 2009 Old Dominion University Baseball 2009 27 BUD METHENY n Jan 2, 2003 Old Dominion University and the athletic program lost a legend with the passing of Bud MethenyO and his wife Fran on the same day. Bud spent 32 years at the University from 1948 to 1980 as an instructor, basketball coach, athletic director and coach of the baseball program. Baseball was his passion, and where he made his mark. As a member of the New York Yankees from 1937 to 1946, Bud played on the 1943 World Series championship squad that stopped St. Louis. Bud started for the Yankees in the second and last game of the series. As a coach of the Monarchs, he rolled up a 423‑363‑6 record and was honored by the NCAA as the Eastern Regional coach of the year in 1963 and ‘64 and National Coach Of the Year in 1964. His Monarchs won the NCAA College Division Eastern Regional championship in 1963 and 1964 and took second in 1965. Bud not only coached baseball, but he was the men’s basketball head coach from 1948‑1965, compiling a 198‑163 record and posting 16 winning seasons. He served as the University’s athletic director from 1963‑1970. Following his retirement it was only fitting to honor Bud with the naming of the new baseball stadium in 1983 and with the adoption of the blue and white pin stripes of the Yankees on uniforms the following year, which coincides with the University’s new school colors, adopted in 1986.

    2019 MiLBTM COMMUNITY REPORT LETTER FROM PAT O’CONNER LETTER FROM PAT Dear Friends and Colleagues, Thank you for your efforts in making 2019 another successful philanthropic year for Minor League Baseball, our 160 teams and MiLB Charities. As we prepare for the 2020 season, we have many accomplishments from last season to celebrate. None of our efforts would be possible without the great work of our teams, continued dedication from staff at the national office and the support of our millions of fans nationwide. For a fifth straight year, all 160 clubs reported their charitable giving and contributions, allowing us to accurately assess our collective efforts. It gives me great pleasure to say that in 2019, MiLB Charities donated nearly $50 million in cash and gifts in kind from our teams, leagues and partners — once again setting a new record-high total. In addition, MiLB and its teams nearly doubled our volunteer efforts from 2018, giving more than 26,000 hours in service of our communities. This report highlights MiLB Charities’ many programs and initiatives, including the MiLB CommUNITY Initiative presented by Allegiant Air, the Stars & Stripes Caps Program with New Era Cap Company, the Derrick Hall Pro-State Foundation Father’s Day Initiative, Ed Randall’s Fans For the Cure, the Joe Torre Safe At Home Domestic Violence Awareness Initiative, and the “Cover Your Bases” Sun Safety Initiative with the American Cancer Society.
