He retired in 2000.Peter & Dorothie moved to live in retirement in Stubbington. During retirement Peter assisted at St Faith's Church in Stubbington for a number of years. Peter did not always enjoy good health, but did have contentment with life in retirement and enjoyed many holidays with Dorothie often visiting their daughters Helen and Ruth He was admitted to hospital following a heart attack and passed away on the 31®' July 2020. On the 11"" August, a Service of Thanksgiving for his life was held at St Peter's Soberton with family members and one or two close friends present. The Commendation and Committal took place in the Churchyard where Peter was laid to rest The Commendation concluded with these words "Let us Commend Peter to the mercy of God, our maker and redeemer. Peter has fallen asleep in the peace of Christ. We entrust him, with faith and hope in everlasting life, to the love and mercy of our Father and surround him with our love and prayer. In baptism he was made by adoption a child of God. At the Eucharist he was sustained and fed. God now welcomes him to his table in heaven to share in eternal life with all the saints Amen". When the current pandemic has gone away a service of thanksgiving will take place at St Peter's at which you will all be welcome.
