Dopo aver studiato musica classica per sei anni, si trasferisce in California per studiare al Musicians Institute di Hollywood, dove consegue il diploma a pieni voti. A Los Angeles ha anche l'occasione di studiare privatamente con musicisti di fama internazionale quali Joe Diorio, Scott Henderson, Ron Escheté, Don Mock, Ted Greene, Howard Roberts, Pat Martino, Robben Ford, Steve Trovato, Gary Willis, Jeff Berlin ed altri ancora. Nel 1994 fonda a Pescara l'European Musicians Institute (E.M.I), una fra le più avanzate scuole di musica europee. Collaborano con la scuola docenti di tutto rispetto quali: Joe Diorio, Bireli Lagrene,Tuck Andress, Scott Henderson, Vic Juris, Paul Bollenback, Robben Ford, Gary Willis, John Stowell, Jimmy Bruno, Gene Bertoncini, Jack Wilkins, Dominique Di Piazza, Howard Alden ed altri ancora. Docente molto stimato in Italia e all'estero, avendo insegnato tra l'altro alla prestigiosa Università Reale di Oslo in Norvegia. Tra i suoi studenti figurano tra l'altro anche alcuni Vip della musica leggera italiana. Giuseppe Continenza è ritenuto, secondo il parere di molti big del jazz, uno dei migliori chitarristi jazz europei della nuova generazione; del resto lo dimostra il suo background ricco di collaborazioni in numerosissimi tour e concerti al fianco di nomi blasonanti della musica internazionale quali Joe Diorio (S.Getz, P.Metheny, J.Hall), Bireli Lagrene (J.Pastorius, P.De Lucia, Al DiMeola), Jimmy Bruno (E.Presley, F.Sinatra), Jack Wilkins (R.Charles, C.Mingus, S.Vaughan), Howard Alden, Paul Bollenback (J.DeFrancesco, S.Turrentine, C.Byrd), Gene Bertoncini (P.Desmond, B.Goodman, G.Benson), Jeff Richman(Manhattan Transfer), Royce Campbell (H.Mancini) John Stowell (L.Hampton, L.Coryell, R.Towner), Vic Juris (Dave Liebman) , David Friesen (H.Hancock, C.Corea, G.Benson), Roy Patterson (O.Peterson, T.Clarke), Gary Willis (W.Shorter, A.Holdsworth), Dominique Di Piazza (John McLaughlin, M.Petrucciani) ed altri ancora. Insieme a lui sono endorsers Andy Summers (Police), Kenny Burrell, Jimmy Bruno, Jack Wilkins, Howard Alden, Bucky Pizzarelli ed altri ancora con i quali Continenza sarà presto in un tour in U.S.A. ed Australia. E' inoltre un endorser dei Benedetto Pickups/Seymour Duncan, delle chitarre classiche Buscarini, delle corde La Bella e della software musicale professionale Sibelius. Collabora da circa otto anni con Guitar Club e Tuttochitarra, due riviste di musica tra le più vendute in Europa, con ben tre rubriche: "Contemporary Jazz Guitar", "Una lezione con i Big" e "Chord Melody". E' stato intervistato nel dicembre 99 insieme a Joe Diorio e nel nelle pagine internazionali della rivista Guitar Club, nel luglio 2001 sulla rivista Tuttochitarra al fianco di Bireli Lagrene e nel agosto 2001 l' autorevole rivista statunitense Just Jazz Guitar gli ha dedicato ben tre pagine di intervista. E' inoltre uno fra i pochi chitarristi europei presenti nella prestigiosa enciclopedia americana Jazz Guitarist. Di recente è stato in tour in duo con Bireli Lagrene (il famosissimo chitarrista di Jaco Pastorius e che tra l'altro ha effettuato tour mondiali con il trio composto da Al Di Meola, Paco De Lucia e John McLaughlin), con il quale ha formato una coppia che ha ottenuto i migliori consensi da parte della critica internazionale. Il tour ha toccato teatri, conservatori e jazz club italiani ed esteri..Di recente uscita il cd "Journey" in duo con il chitarrista Vic Juris che è stato prodotto dall'etichetta tedesca Jardis Records. Il suo nuovo progetto discografico dal titolo "Seven Steps to Heaven" è stato registrato in agosto 2003 con il suo quartetto composto da Dominique Di Piazza(il bassista di John McLaughlin), Vic Juris alla chitarra e Pietro Iodice alla batteria. Imminente un nuovo tour del duo Continenza/Juris ed del quartetto che vedrà in alcune date la presenza di Dennis Chambers alla batteria e dei Benedetto Players con Jack Wilkins, Howard Alden, Jimmy Bruno. It was at the age of seven, that his musical interests began. He studied classical guitar at the Classical Music Academy in Pescara (Italy) and later he moved to California in order to study at Musicians Institute in Hollywood where he graduated with vocational honor. He also did private study in Los Angeles with some of the finest jazz musicians in the world: Joe Diorio, Ted Greene, Howard Roberts, Ron Escheté, Scott Henderson, Don Mock, Pat Martino, Robben Ford, Jeff Berlin, Gary Willis and many others. In 1994 he founded the European Musicians Institute in Pescara (Italy) that’s one of most advanced european music school . Youtube: Yes A "first call" guitarist at Columbia Pictures, during the 1960s Kessel be- came one of the most in-demand session guitarists in America, and is con- sidered a key member of the group of first-call session musicians now usually known as The Wrecking Crew. In this capacity he played on hun- dreds of famous pop recordings including albums and singles by Phil Spector, The Beach Boys, The Monkees and many others. He appeared in an acting part playing a jazz guitarist named "Barney" in one episode of the Perry MasonTV show. He also wrote and arranged the source music, including a jazz version of "Here Comes the Bride", provided by the jazz combo that figured in the story. In 1961 The Gibson Guitar Corpora- tion introduced The Barney Kessel model guitar onto the market and con- tinued to make them until 1973. One custom instrument Kessel played was essentially a 12-string guitar neck attached to a mandolin body (similar to Vox's mando guitar), which may have been played on the intro to The Beach Boys' "Wouldn't It Be Nice." During the 1970s, Kessel pre- sented his seminar 'The Effective Guitarist' in various locations around the world. Kessel died of a brain tumor in San Diego, California. He had been in poor health after suffering a stroke in 1992 .
