The nose is elegantly proportioned and tightly concentrated with black berry fruits, black pepper and earthly minerals along with tar and spics, still bound and brooding. Medium-full bodied, the fruit flavours are somewhat shy and restrained, with black berries infused with black pepper, along with spices, ink and plummy notes. TATIARRA CAMBRIAN SHIRAZ 2014 120 HEATHCOTE, VIC Astonishing depth of colour with a totally opaque midnight black core and equally deep dark purple black hue. Potent liquorice, ripe blackberry and dark plum aromas fill the olfactory senses followed by some dark chocolate and vanillin oak with a hint of spicy mocha as an end note. Outstanding power wave with a very long conclusion of liquorice, ripe blackberries, dark plum, vanillin oak and spicy blackpepper. MINISTRY OF CLOUDS SHIRAZ 2016 120 MCLAREN VALE, SA Fruit for this wine was sourced from a single vineyard in Blewitt Springs. Totally opaque black dark purple colour with a deep dark purple hue. Pronounced aromas of liquorice and blackberries are to the fore with some black cherry, meaty black olive characters, lightly smoked cedar and blackpepper following on. Medium to full bodied with a rich meaty textural feel the palate features flavours of liquorice, black cherries, dried meats, smoky cedar and pepper.

  • Wolf Blass and Wynns Dominate at the China Wine & Spirit Awards
Wolf Blass and Wynns dominate at the China Wine & Spirit Awards Wolf Blass and Wynns have dominated the China Wine & Spirit Awards with Wolf Blass receiving a trophy and five double gold medals and Wynns scoring a trophy and four gold medals. Wolf Blass Chief Winemaker, Chris Hatcher, is thrilled to receive such outstanding recognition for his wines in China. “These medal wins are such a fantastic result for the Wolf Blass winemaking and viticultural teams given the wines were awarded for the suitability of the style for the Chinese market - the fastest growing wine market in the world. “The results are particularly pleasing as the judges were selected from the most important distributors, importers, hoteliers and Sommeliers from all the key regions and cities in China and Hong Kong” he said. Wynns Senior Winemaker, Sue Hodder, is equally delighted with these recent medal wins. “These awards honour some of Wynns most classic wines with distinct varietal and regional characteristics, including one of Australia’s most collected Cabernet Sauvignons from the exceptional 2010 vintage” she said. The China Wine & Spirit Awards are a unique competition as it is judged specifically for the Asian market by key Asian buyers and sommeliers. The CWSA are the only awards in the world judged specifically for the China market and is entirely focused on consumer preferences and demand. • Cellar Wine List
Welcome to the National Wine Centre of Australia. Think of us as the wine equivalent of Switzerland during World War II, in the sense that we remain neutral to all wineries and are happy to represent any wine region as long as they keep to the Treaty of Versailles and no winery invades other wineries. We are also similar to Switzerland in the fact that we both dabble at making wine, even though no one knows about it. Our wine list is a fantastic snapshot of the Australian wine industry with a combination of current release and back vintage wines from all across Australia. Our wine list is curated by James Boden, Sommelier at the National Wine Centre. James’ aim is to showcase the width, depth and breadth of Australian wines both in our Enomatic machines and in our cellar. His focus is on exploring wines that show varietal variation as well as being accurate representations of their region. Most importantly he hopes to never be a wine snob and always aims to enjoy wine for what it is and not what it is trying to be, although he does swirl his glass too much and makes that awful noise when he drinks. Our hope is that you enjoy a nice glass of wine from the Enomatic machines, sit outside and enjoy the wonders that are the Adelaide Botanical Gardens and find a bottle or two that is worth bringing home to enjoy with loved ones. We have something for everyone and this book should be a great read for all wine lovers.
