Head of School Recruitment Pack Head of School Recruitment Pack Belmont Primary School All Together Better This page is left intentionally blank February 2018 Dear Colleague, Post of Head of School Thank you for expressing an interest in the above post. Our previous Head has moved on to explore career opportunities outside of education and we are now looking for someone to lead our welcoming, happy and dedicated staff. I have been the Executive Head since the partnership began with Woodside School in 2015 and prior to that I was the Head at Belmont School. I am very excited about the future of Belmont and the Federation. Along with our supportive governors I am looking forward to recruiting a Head of School who really wants to be part of the next stage in the school’s development. Our children and young people are a delight to be with. They are keen to learn and well behaved. We are a fully inclusive school and our resource provision is fully integrated into the life of the school. We are well supported by our governors who take a keen interest in the school and its developments. We are based on a fairly large site and although money is tight we work hard to make sure that all teachers have the resources they need. Our staff work hard to make sure that the learning environment is vibrant and engaging for children. Visitors to the school talk warmly about our inclusive ethos and positive atmosphere and we know that we are a popular choice for many families who live near to the school. We work within teams so that our staff can get to know their pupils well. We also ensure that all staff have access to high quality CPD. Our staffing includes a real mix of staff. We have our leadership team, our teaching work force, a high number of HLTAs and Teaching Assistants (due to the severity and complexity of some of our resource provision pupils’ needs) plus our own Leader of Pastoral Care. We are also supported by speech and language staff and by occupational therapists. Because of the make up of our school community not all of our pupils achieve the highest outcomes at the end of Year 2 and Year 6 but aspiration for all our pupils remains high and we have targeted programmes in place to provide stretch and challenge for the most able as well as those who face barriers to their learning. I hope our advert and this letter have given you a flavour of the school. Our last Ofsted inspection report says that we are a good school but please come and visit us and see for yourselves. We would be delighted to show you our school and to answer any questions you may have. Yours sincerely Madelaine Caplin Executive Head Teacher Madelaine Caplin Executive Head Teacher ABOUT THE SCHOOL Belmont Primary School is a successful, oversubscribed two form entry community school situated within the borough of Bexley. Our main aim is to provide high quality teaching and an effective, inclusive learning environment for all our pupils. Our staff team is committed to providing a secure and happy environment in which all pupils are able to thrive socially, emotionally and academically. We are proud of our school. We have well maintained buildings and grounds and as a consequence our pupils can learn indoors and outside at all times of the year. We work hard to encourage pupils to take full part in the life of the school. This includes opportunities to develop musically, to use the latest technologies to support learning, to be actively involved in physical activity and join our extensive range of clubs and to share responsibility for looking after the environment. Our pupils are highly motivated, well behaved and a real pleasure to teach. We have specialist facilities here for pupils who are blind or visually impaired and a thriving resource provision for pupils with physical, medical and other learning needs. Our Vision At Belmont, our vision is encapsulated in our motto Altogether Better. Our school community works together towards achieving our shared goal of individual and collective excellence. As such, we have a shared responsibility for success. The purpose of our school is to provide an excellent educational experience for every child which enables them to understand the world and their place in it. This is underpinned by our four commitments to excellence: Altogether Connected: connecting each member of the school community to the wider world; Altogether Inclusive: a deep understanding of inclusion which permeates the whole school community and all we do; Altogether Resilient: building resilience so that we can overcome obstacles and challenges, take risks and act with courage; Altogether Creative: each pupil can express themselves through a rich and varied curriculum and take plentiful opportunities to develop their own skills and talents. Our Values Respect • Excellence • Friendship • Determination • Courage • Equality • Inspiration As a fully inclusive school, our core values are those of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This set of principles teaches our community that making a positive contribution to the world and being successful is not just about ability. The Belmont Woodside Federation st Belmont Primary School is part of the Belmont Woodside Federation of which formed on 1 September 2016. The Federation is made up of Belmont Primary School and Woodside School. The two schools work in close partnership together sharing an Executive Headteacher to facilitate the delivery of strategic leadership across both communities. The Federation’s Governing Board are immensely proud of this partnership and are always looking for ways of strengthening the links . between the schools. • London Borough of Bexley News Release
London Borough of Bexley News Release For Immediate Release 10 November 2015 / PR 6245 DANSON HOUSE SET TO RETURN TO COUNCIL CONTROL Danson House is set for a change of management next year, with the London Borough of Bexley committed to ensuring that the much-loved historic building remains open to the public. The future use of the Georgian mansion is to be discussed at the next meeting of the Council’s Cabinet on 17 November. It follows lengthy discussions over many months between the Council and the Bexley Heritage Trust, who have managed the Georgian mansion on the Council’s behalf since 2004. As a result of the severe financial pressures it faces, the Council decided to withdraw its grant to the Trust over the next three years. This led the Trust to review their commitments, resulting in their decision to withdraw from the management of Danson House. The Council is in discussion with Kent County Council to continue the use of the building for weddings by using it as the new location for the Borough’s Register Office. This service is run for Bexley by Kent County Council and it is proposed that this will relocate to Danson House from the Borough’s current Register Office at Sidcup Manor House. The future use of Sidcup Manor House will be reviewed and a new Conservation Management Plan developed, which will help inform final proposals for the property. “We are saddened that BHT is unable to continue to manage Danson House but understand the reason for their decision,” said Cabinet Member Cllr Peter Craske.
