LOUIS – May 29, 2013 – Following an eight-game road trip to San Diego, Los Angeles and Kansas City (6-2), the Cardinals return to St. Louis for a nine-game homestand with a Major League best 34-17 record. The homestand begins with the second half of a home-and-home series against the I-70 rival Kansas City Royals, followed by a three-game series against the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, and concludes with a four-game series versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. The homestand is highlighted by several theme ticket promotions such as Social Media Night and Gardening Night, as well as stadium-wide promotions like Cooper Tire Fireworks Night, Rawlings Mystery Bat Night, and Kids Replica Yadier Molina Batting Practice Jersey day. Wednesday, May 29, 2013 — Cardinals vs. Kansas City Royals (7:15 p.m.) Gardening Night at the Ballpark: Fans who purchase a special ticket for this themed event night will take home their very own, limited edition, Cardinals gardening tool set! Tickets start at just $22, and a portion of each ticket sold will benefit the Missouri Botanical Garden. Fans can purchase the special tickets at cardinals.com/garden. Please note that the gardening tool set is only available with the purchase of this special ticket. Fans who purchase this ticket will receive a voucher which can be exchanged for this promotional item. MLBPAA Auction: The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association will conduct a baseball-themed silent auction inside Gate 3, Gate 1, UMB Champions Club, and the Cardinals Club from the time gates open through the seventh inning. All proceeds will benefit Cardinals Care and the Players Alumni Association, a non-profit group that strives to preserve the game of baseball while supporting a variety of charities. Thursday, May 30, 2013 — Cardinals vs. Kansas City Royals (7:15 p.m.) MLB Drawstring Bag Day: 25,000 ticketed-fans, ages 16 and older, will receive a drawstring backpack courtesy of MLB Network at the gate. – more – Summer Beer Tasting at Busch: Fans who purchase a special ticket for this themed event night will receive entry into the 2013 Summer Beer Tasting at Busch. Fans with this special ticket have the chance to taste a variety of Anheuser-Busch specialty beers and new products. Each ticket provides entry into the Summer Beer Tasting, six 4oz samples of beer and a commemorative tasting glass. Let's get the season started in style by running down an interesting Statcast™ stat for each team -- in many cases, something that never could have been measured prior to 2015. AMERICAN LEAGUE EAST Blue Jays: 1.07 seconds: Ryan Goins' baseball-leading exchange time, which is a way to measure the time that elapses between a fielder receiving the ball and releasing the throw. What that means is that no infielder in the game managed to get rid of the ball as quickly as Goins did, which makes sense given his stellar defensive reputation. Orioles: 82.2 mph: Darren O'Day's average exit velocity against on four-seam fastballs, the second lowest among 407 pitchers who threw at least 100 of them. Despite averaging just 88 mph on his otherwise unimposing fastball, O'Day's swing-and-miss rate of 36.8 percent was better than every pitcher other than Aroldis Chapman, and the hitters that did make contact against O'Day's funky sidearm delivery failed to make good contact, leading to a .097 average against it.
