The UNLV baseball pro- gram boasted four straight freshman All-American selec- tions in 1995-1996-1997-1998. Overall, UNLV baseball has had a total of 18 All-American selec- tions, with five Rebels earning the prestigous honor in the past six years. Brent Johnson was picked to the 2001 Louisville Slugger Freshman All - American team. Dan Murphy Randy Ward Ken Elsee Bill Max 2002 saw a pair of Rebels 1980 - 1st Team 1980 - 1st Team 1980 - 2nd Team 1981 - 3rd Team honored as Joe Wickman earned a spot on the 2002 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team and senior David Trujillo was named First Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Matt Luca was named a 2003 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American.
