The facility is renowned for being one of the best in Dorset not only for the hospitality that it extends but for the playing conditions that it provides. The surface of the pitch is one of the best in Dorset and such facilities enable scores of people to enjoy grass roots sport. Sports Club Committee spokesman, John Kane, writes: “It requires many spokes to strengthen a wheel but right at the hub of the wheel is our groundsman, Malcolm Applin, who at the age of 76 has been involved with football in Milborne for over thirty years, the last ten as a member of the Sports Club Committee. Malcolm sets a high standard in preparing his pitch and does all the jobs that an unsung hero is made of.
