Quick Guide Installing PT Offline 1. Google Chrome is the recommended browser for using PT Offline. If you are using an Apple device (iOS) you will need to visit the App Store to install Google Chrome. 2. PT Offline uses a browser caching method and is installed from the PeopleTray application while online. Installing from an App Store is not required. 3. Open PeopleTray on your mobile device while On-line. au.peopletray.com 4. On the left (black menu), click the button ‘Offline Options’. If your device has a small screen the black menu may be a black horizontal bar at the top of your screen – click it to open the menu. 5. Click the blue button for the checklist you wish to use offline. Fill out the form as if you are submitting the checklist. Then click the blue button labelled ‘Take Offline’. 6. The checklist for the equipment item you selected is now installed in the browser on your device. Repeat step 5 if you wish to take other another equipment item offline. 7. Click the Orange button named Offline App. This will open PT Offline and you should see buttons for the checklists you have installed offline. 8. You can use PT Offline while your device is online or offline. 9. If you are using Google Chrome, the PT Offline app will persist in the browser for 7 days from last use. If it is closed, you need to repeat steps 2 and 6 above.

Using PT Offline once installed

Open your browser then Click the Click the PT Offline to open. Tabs button.

Tabs in your browser will persist if you close, then reopen the Browser. However, if you close the PT Offline Tab from within your browser, or clear the browser data and history, you will need to open PT Offline – and follow steps 2 and 6 above.

In Google Chrome, tabs are automatically closed if not used for 7 days. Syncing checklists to PeopleTray online Captured Checklist entries will automatically sync to the online database after about 15 seconds, when the offline application is open and the device is online. A blue flashing Syncing alert will display on the lower left of the screen when the device is uploading (syncing). Once complete, the table of captured checklists on the home page will be clear.

Is my device offline? Online means that a device is connected to the Internet via a Network (e.g. WIFI) or via a cellular service (e.g. Telstra, Optus, iiNet or other). The strength of the signal is indicated by the number of filled dots in the signal strength bar.

A low signal strength may mean that your device restricts activity to emergency calls. If there is no service you may not have to any phone or data service.

If your phone or data services are restricted for any reason you will need to use PT Offline to enter your checklist or report.

You must install PT Offline according to the steps in this guide, while your device is online (and has a sufficient signal strength).

People Offline Concept PeopleTray has introduced the ability to capture Checklists when your device is offline, using the PT Offline application. PT Offline uses a browser caching method and is installed from the PeopleTray application while online. Visiting an App Store is not required.

The Equipment (Pre-starts) checklist option is available for use when offline. Options to capture other types of checklists will be added incrementally.

A mobile device is offline if it is not connected to the Internet via a Network or Cellular service. An easy way to set a device to offline is to open Settings, then turn on Aeroplane Mode.

This guide assumes one or more checklists have been configured in your PeopleTray account. (See the User Guide for setting up Checklists if required).

Which browser to use on a mobile device? PeopleTray and PT Offline can use any mainstream , and can be used on any device with such a browser. The device must be connected to the Internet to install PT Offline.

The Google Chrome browser is the recommended browser if needing to work offline. Its main advantage is that the offline app persists for 7 days in the Chrome browser if not used. After 7 days, if not used, Chrome clears the cache and the Offline app must be opened again from the main PeopleTray application, while online.

If you do not have Google Chrome on your device you will need to visit the App Store to install Google Chrome on your device. It should be preinstalled for Samsung (Android) devices, but not for Apple (iOS) devices.

NB: For comparison, Safari closes cached applications in an unpredictable time , which could result in PT Offline being unavailable until PT Offline is opened again from PeopleTray while online. Also, Safari provides the option of adding a button to the home screen to open the current (e.g. PT Offline) browser page. Google Chrome on iOS does not provide an easy way to add a button to the home screen on an iOS device.

Each browser/device combination has different features and behaviour. For detailed information on mobile devices and browsers, you will need to consult the available documentation or IT support service for your device.

Installing PT Offline 1. Sign in to your PeopleTray account while on your mobile device, using the available . 2. On the left menu, click Offline Options. (NB: See images below for location of Offline Options button for different screen sizes).

3. In the below image - Click on the checklist button (e.g. Pre-start or Equipment Pre-start) for the Checklist that you wish to use offline.

4. Fill out the checklist header as if you are initiating a checklist in the usual way, then click the blue ‘Take Offline’ button. The checklist for the selected equipment item will be installed into a database on your mobile device. This database is accessed by the offline app to display the checklist.

After installing the checklist on your device, PeopleTray returns to the Offline options page.

5. To install the offline application to the browser cache click the orange Offline App button. The offline application (PT Offline) will automatically open once installed. Clicking this button will also update PT Offline, and reinstall PT Offline if it is cleared from the devices browser cache.

The offline application will open, with the Captured checklists are saved as a cached file installed checklists available as buttons on the on the device. They can be viewed by scrolling Home Page. Click the Prestart button to initiate down on the Home Page to the captured and complete the checklist in the usual way. checklists table.

Using PT Offline once installed

Safari is the default browser on iOS devices – hence if you wish to use Google Chrome on your iOS device, you will need to install it from the App Store. Using Tabs Once you have installed PT Offline (following the instructions earlier in this guide) it is available as a Tab on your browser. Access the PT Offline Tab by opening Chrome. If PT Offline is not the currently displayed Tab, click the Tabs button, and select PT Offline. It may take a few seconds before the buttons display when the Tab is re-opened.

Click the Tabs button. Click the PT Offline Tab to open.

Closing PT Offline If you wish to ensure other users of the device cannot access PT Offline, or any other Tabs you have opened in Chrome, you would need to close the Tabs. Note, that once the PT Offline Tab is closed, you will have to open PeopleTray when online to reinstate the tab (PeopleTray online: Left menu > Offline Options > Offline App button). If you don’t close the tab it will be available next time you use the device, provided not more than 7 days has elapsed since it was last used.

To clear a tab and associated data on Chrome, open the tab selector and swipe the tab that you wish to close to the right. NB: Closing the PT Offline Tab will delete any captured checklists that have not been synced to the main PeopleTray application.

Click this button to open the Chrome Swipe to the right to close a Tab as clear its Tabs. associated data.

Using Safari on Apple (iOS) devices Google Chrome is the recommended browser for using PeopleTray, including on Apple (iOS) and Samsung (Android) devices.

Google Chrome is the default browser on Samsung (Android) devices. Safari is the default browser on Apple (iOS) devices – hence if you wish to use Google Chrome on your iOS device, you will need to install it from the App Store. Using Tabs PT Offline is installed as a Tab (webpage) in your browser. Google Chrome keeps browser tabs active for 7 days, and may result in a more reliable experience. If your browser closes the tab, you need to be online, and open PT Offline from PeopleTray when online. (NB: Safari keep tabs active for only 2 days and is less predictable).

To open Tabs in Safari click the button on the bottom right:

If PT Offline does not display as a Tab, you may need to navigate to the previous page using the back button located similarly on most browsers. In some cases, you may need to click the back button twice:

If you receive this view in Safari it indicates the PT Offline app has been closed, in which case you will need to open PT Offline from PeopleTray when online.

Closing PT Offline You may wish to close the PT Offline app if you wish to prevent other users of the device from using the PT Offline app.

To close the PT Offline app in the Safari browser, you need to clear the data and browsing history from the device Settings. Open Settings, then scroll down to Safari.

Then scroll down and click the button named: ‘Clear History and Website Data’.

iOS - Installing a Safari button on your iOS device Home Screen Some browsers (including Safari on iOS devices) will allow you to install a button on the device Home Screen which directly to the currently open Tab or page. In Safari, click the button at the bottom of the screen, in the middle to display the page options.

Then swipe left to the button named ‘Add to Home Screen’.
