VERO BEACH WELCOMES BACK THE THIRD ANNUAL MARDY’S TENNIS & JAKE’S MUSIC FEST TO BENEFIT THE MARDY FISH FOUNDATION Foundation adds a Golf Pro-Am Tournament to Exciting Weekend
Vero Beach, Fla., -- Hometown favorites Mardy Fish and Jake Owen are excited to announce that the third annual and expanded Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest to benefit the Mardy Fish Foundation will be held in Vero Beach on December 12 and 13, 2008. The Boulevard Village & Tennis Club continues its support of the event as the Host Sponsor and is home to the Tennis Exhibition and Dinner Party. Jake Owen will once again perform live at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. The event’s premiere Pro-Am Golf Tournament will tee off at the Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club.
“When Jake isn’t playing music and when I am not smacking a tennis ball, the most likely place you will find us is on a golf course,” said Mardy Fish. “Vero Beach has really embraced the event and its natural we try to expand on its success with the addition of a pro-am golf tournament. We hope golfers will join us for a round on a great course.”

Fish created the Foundation to support youth organizations in Indian River County. The Foundation has and will continue to utilize funds from Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest to fund after school programs in the community. The Foundation opened the Pelican Island Elementary School/Mardy Fish Music Club and Health & Fitness Club September 11, 2007. The program provides a place for children to go and partake in various activities that will help them better themselves using sports, music, and art. The Mardy Fish Foundation hopes to expand this program in the community while also continuing to support other organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of Vero Beach and Adopt A Family Project, which provides aid to low income families such as food and clothing.
Fish has won two singles and four doubles tournaments on the ATP Tour, participated on the U.S. Davis Cup Team, won the 2004 Olympic silver medal at the Athens Games and been ranked within the elite top 20 in the world. Fish began 2008 solidly by reaching the finals at Indian Wells, beating three top 10 players including world No. 1 Roger Federer. Owen's debut album Startin’ With Me was released in July 2007. The album features the song Ghost, which received rave reviews from country music superstar Kenny Chesney, who he toured with last summer. His first single, "Yee Haw", reached #16 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and #83 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album peaked at #31 on the Billboard 200 and #8 on Top
