CONTENTS 5%# Edinburgh Airport Arrival 1 South Queensferry 2 City Chambers, Edinburgh 3 Castle Esplanade Retreat 4 Edinburgh Castle Reception 5 DE 12280/1 * EDINBURGH AIRPORT: ARRIVAL * On arrival at Edinburgh (Turnhouse) Airport at approx. 1505 hours, the aircraft will taxi on to the apron outside the new Civil passenger terminal building. '•Then Mr. Bulganin and Mr. Kruschev leave the aircraft, they will be greeted by the Secretary of State for Scotland (Rt, Hen. James Stuart, M.P.); Air Commodore J.M. Warfield, C.B.J., Air Officer Commanding No. 66 (Scottish) Group, Royal Air Force; Mr. W.F. Riramer, Scottish Divisional Operations Officer, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation; and Wing Commander A.L. Winskill, D.F.C., Station Commander, R.A.F. Turnhouse. The Station Commander will invite Mr. Bulganin to inspect the guard of honour. The Guard of Honour, to be provided by R.A.F. Turnhouse, will consist of Flight Lieut. W. Holmes, (guard commander), Flight Lieut. P. Stewart, four n.c.os and 48 airmen, and two trumpeters. After a general salute has been given, Mr. Bulganin will inspect the Guard, before rejoining Mr. Kruschev and the Secretary of State for introduction to other guests. They will then leave the airport terminal through the Customs entrance to join the waiting cars. XXX IE 12280/1 1 * SOUTH QUEENSFERRY * When Mr. Bulganin and Mr. Kruschev arrive at South Queensferry, they will be met by the Lord Lieutenant of West Lothian, Colonel H.M. Cadell of Grange, O.B.E.; the Provost of Queensferry, Mr. James A. Lav/son; and the Town Clerk of Queensferry, Mr. Neil Ross. XXX z DE 1 2280/1 2 * CITY CHAMBERS, EDINBURGH * On the occasion of the visit of the Russian Ministers to the City Chambers, Edinburgh on Thursday, 26th April, they will be received by the Right Honourable Sir John G. Banks, C.B.E., Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh. The representatives of the Town Council who will be present will be Bailie Matt Murray, Councillor H.A. Brechin, O.B.E., Councillor Magnus Williamson and Councillor J. Kane. The Town Clerk, Sir John Storrar, C.B.E., M.C., and the City Chamberlain, Mr. Ames Imrie, C.A., will also be in attendance. The Lord Provost will present the two Soviet Leaders with two ashtrays made of Edinburgh Crystal, a typical pro duct of the City. The ashtrays will he engraved with the Edinburgh coat-of-arms. XXX DE 12280/1 3 * CASTLE ESPLANADE: RETREAT * The Guard of Honour consists of one officer and 48 Other Ranks, with the Regimental Colour. It is formed by the First Battalion of the Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment), and is commanded by Captain I.A. Maclachlan. The Ensign of the Colour is Lieutenant A.R.G. Addison. The bands are provided by the Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment). The ?/9th (Highland)(T.A.) Battalion; the 8th (lothians)and Pteebles^(T.A.) Battalion; and the Regiiasntal Depot will provide pipes and drums while the military band is that of the 1st Battalion. All Bands are by kind permission of the Commanding Officers. T.U. 104 "OPEN TO SIGHTSEERS" SOVIET EMBASSY OFFICIALS REAFFIRMED TODAY THAT TWO OF THE THREE RUSSIAN T.U. 104 JET AIR LINERS WILL BE OPENED TO PUBLIC SIGHTSEERS "FOR A SHORT TIME" TOMORROW. ONE OFFICIAL SAID: "A PARTY OF BRITISH MEMBERS OF PARLIA MENT ARE BEING INVITED TO VISIT THE THIRD AIRCRAFT." TWO OF THE JETS FLEW FROM MOSCOW DIRECT TO LONDON AIRPORT WITHIN THIRTY MINUTES OF EACH OTHER TO JOIN ON THE TARMAC THE AIRCRAFT 'WHICH HAD FLOWN IN ON MONDAY. REFUELLED AND CLEANED, THE PLANES WERE SEALED AND LOCKED AND THE CREWS DRIVEN TO THE SOVIET EMBASSY BY COACH. ' A SPOKESMAN FOR THE MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT AT THE AIRPORT SAID TODAY: "NO APPROACH HAS BEEN MADE BY THE SOVIET AUTHOR- , ITIES FOR PUBLIC VIEWING FACILITIES. IF THEY DO SO WE SHALL, OF COURSE , ENDEAVOUR TO ARRANGE FACILITIES."
