Introduction and Background 1.1 Dartmoor Training Area (DTA) comprises nearly 13,000 hectares of moorland within Dartmoor National Park. The topography, climate and management of the area have resulted in an upland landscape of open aspect with little cover from the elements and rapidly changing weather conditions.
