It was founded in 1983 and it is based in Novo Hamburgo (RS). It represents companies from all sizes and states in Brazil. Brazilian exports of footwear are aided by the Brazilian Footwear program. This is an initiative by the Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries (Abicalçados) in partnership with the Brazilian Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments (Apex-Brazil) created for exporting Brazilian footwear to new markets and promoting it.
