Deacons proclaim the Gospel, preach, assist at Mass, administer the sacrament of Baptism, and officiate at weddings and funerals. Deacons may evangelise through helping the sick and needy. They may be school, hospital or prison chaplains. They may help others by man- aging their activities, assisting with catechesis, parish or community administration. This month Pope Francis invites us to join this month’s prayer intention. “We pray that deacons, faithful in their service to the Word and the poor, may be an invigorating symbol for the entire Church.” FIRST COMMUNION CEREMONIES:- Unfortunately with the schools & churches closed the First Communion Ceremonies for Graiguecullen (9th May) and Killeshin children (16th May) have been postponed until further notice.
