Here you will learn how to recognize the different flavours and develop your taste buds with a passionate wine producer. The second stop will be at a local winery located in a stunning area well known for the production of the D.O.C.G. Vernaccia white wine facing the famous towers of San Gimignano. The wine makers will guide you through the vineyards and the cellars and they will share the secrets of the wine and oil production as well as the best wine and food combinations. With incredible views, intimate piazzas and some wonderful restaurants, boutiques and art galleries, Castellina makes a perfect base for a holiday in Tuscany. Then it will be the turn of the Medieval town of Monteriggioni. a 13th century medieval town which was the stage for the famous movie “The Gladiator”. Here you will be able to admire the wonderful views of the area and the Tuscan countryside from the ancient walls or explore the small shops selling the local handicrafts. Lunch in Monteriggini and time exploring the town. 3rdnd stop will be local winery. Departure from Siena at 11am. On the way to Florence we will pass from the town of Barberino Val’elsa. Barberino was born from the destruction by the Florentines of the nearby powerful town of Semifonte in 1202. Materials from the ruins were used to build a second Barberino following the plan of an elliptical wall, two doors and a long main street. The fourteenth century building fabric can still be seen to this day with tower-houses, the tall robust building also known as ‘Palagetto’ and the Praetorian Palace. The only exception is the church of S. Bartholomew, a neo-Gothic whim. Our final stop of the day will be at the Antinori one of the most famous winery in the Chianti for wine tasting.
