HISTORY: June 28, 1969 marks the beginning of the Stonewall Uprising, a series of events between police and LGBTQ+ protesters which would fundamentally change the nature of LGBTQ+ activism in the United States.

Heritage of Pride is a nonprofit organization that plans and produces City’s official LGBT Pride events each year to commemorate the of 1969 — the beginning of the modern Gay Rights movement.

Heritage of Pride works toward a future without discrimination where all people have equal rights under the law. We do this by producing LGBT Pride events that inspire, educate, commemorate and celebrate our diverse community.

On Sunday, June 28 NYC Pride celebration, Dance on the Pier took place. NYC Pride’s amazing event returned to the Hudson River Park’s Pier 26 in Tribeca.This year they continued to bring the biggest and best talent from around the world. Out of control music was presented by DJ’s: The Cube Guys, DJ Ralph Rosario, and DJ Wayne G. There was also a particularly explosive performance by Ariana Grande. Local New Yorkers were certainly celebrating NYC Pride but also were luckily enough to celebrate a piece of history that was being made this weekend: Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage is now legal nationwide.
