Rik Van de Walle October 2019 i English Summary This dissertation examines the motives and central visions of three student demonstrations, each taking place within different historical and political contexts and each organized by a different generation of Kosovo Albanian students. The years 1968, 1981 and 1997 witnessed a proliferation of student mobilizations as collective responses demanding more national rights for Albanians in Kosovo. I argue that the students' main vision in all three movements was the political independence of Kosovo. Given the complexity of the students' goal, my analysis focuses on the influence and reactions of domestic and foreign powers vis-à-vis the University of Prishtina (hereafter UP), the students and their movements. Fueled by their desire for freedom from Serbian hegemony, the students played a central role in "preserving" and passing from one generation to the next the vision of "Republic" status for Kosovo. Kosova Republikë or the Republic of Kosovo (hereafter RK) status was a demand of all three student demonstrations, but the students' impact on state creation has generally been underestimated by politicians and public figures. Thus, the primary purpose of this study is to unearth the various and hitherto unknown or hidden roles of higher education – then the UP – and its students in shaping Kosovo's recent history.

It was a follow-up activity to the UNEP/OCHA Balkan Task Force Mission, which investigated the environmental impacts of the Kosovo conflict in FRY in 1999. The major aim of the Study on Bioindicators was to investigate the accumulation of organic and inorganic micropollutants in sediments and biota and to analyze the macrozoobenthos in the Danube reach impacted by the Kosovo conflict. The Study was financially supported by the governments of Germany and Austria and organized by the Secretariat of the ICPDR. The sampling mission was carried out on 17-23 July 2000 by the VITUKI team with the kind support of Yugoslavian authorities. The samples were analyzed in VITUKI and VUVH, Bratislava, Slovakia. The actual report was prepared by Dr. Béla CSÁNYI (Project Manager). The findings, interpretations and conclusions of the Study contribute to mapping of the quality status of the Danube reach, which has been excluded from the regular monitoring activities of the ICPDR (Transnational Monitoring Network) until now.     SMEŠTAJNI OBJEKTI U DOMAĆOJ RADINOSTI Donji Milanovac: Sobe za izdavanje – u kući Živorada Stefanovića, na Kapetan Mišinom bregu udaljene su od Donjeg Milanovca 6 km. Nalaze se na putu za Majdanpek preko planine Oman. Na raspolaganju gostima stoji 6 ležaja u tri dvokrevetne sobe, kategorisane sa tri zvezdice. Gostima se uz uslugu smeštaja nudi i ishrana domaćim specijlitetima ovog kraja. Na ovom mestu, odakle se pruža izuzetan pogled na donjomilanovačku kotlinu, nalazi se i galerija «Čovek, drvo i voda», pa posetioci mogu da uživaju u prirodi i razgledanju eksponata. Galerija se prostire na 7 ari sa oko 100 skulptura u drvetu, koje su u stalnoj postavci na otvorenom prostoru. Stan za odmor – Maje Marjanović, nalazi se u glavnoj ulici u Donjem Milanovcu. Raspolaže sa 4 ležaja u dve dvokrevetne sobe, ali su na raspolaganju i dva pomoćna ležaja. Kategorisan je sa tri zvezdice. U neposrednoj blizini stana nalazi se gradska plaža, prodavnica za svakodnevno snabdevanje, a u krugu od 300m su restorani, pošta, banka, autobuska stanica, mini marketi, pijaca... Stan za odmor – Slavice Popović nalazi se u Donjem Milanovcu, kapaciteta 4 ležaja u dve dvokrevetne sobe, kategorisan je sa tri zvezdice. Ovaj smeštajni objekat je komforan i savremeno ureĎen. Nalazi se u delu grada odakle se pruža izuzetan pogled na grad i Dunav. U dvorištu se nalazi lepo ureĎen deo u kome se može priprmati roštilj ili uživati tokom čitavog dana. Ovde možete pripremiti i svoju zimnicu. Za sve turiste koji putuju sa kućnim ljubimcima ovo je idealno mesto za smeštaj i odmor. U jednom delu dvorišta ureĎen je prostor za smeštaj pasa, a gostima koji se ne bi odvojili od svojih kućnih ljubimaca omogućeno je da u stanu smeste i svoje ljubimce.

Focusing on its multicultural struc- ture and shaping its political, social and religious diversity, the author takes into account the problems of various minority groups in Yugoslavia and the failure of its global minority politics as well. Key words: Kingdom of Yugoslavia, national minorities, minority politics, political organization, education Th e fi rst common state of Southern Slavs was founded in 1918 at the end of WWI. Although it purported to be a national state on the Western European model, it was in fact as multi-national as the defunct empires it has replaced.1 Among the patchwork of nationalities making up its population, were numer- ous national minorities most of whom were non-Slavs. Th ey made up some 12 % of the total population, but not all of them were offi cially recognized as na- tional minorities and the existence of some of them was denied altogether.2 ∗ Zoran Janjetović, Ph. Situation analysis Description of the disaster Massive rainfalls in the eastern parts of Serbia have caused major problems in the municipalities of Kladovo, Majdanpek and Negotin, where a state of emergency was declared on 16 September 2014, with the effort to save people`s lives and to reach those villages that are cut off. The floods have caused one death, at least three people are reported as missing, and some 400 people have been evacuated by police and civil protection rescue teams with vessels and helicopters and are temporarily sheltered in Kladovo. Landslides divided the village of Tekija into two parts, and rescuers are trying to break through the layers of soil with bulldozers.

Zarković* Institute for Serbian Culture – Prishtina / Leposavić FANDAS AND OPERATION OF THE AUSTRIA–HUNGARY IN PRIZREN AND PEĆ SANJAK (1900–1905)** Abstract: The author points out the Austro–Hungarian influence on the Catholic Albanians– fandas in Prizren and Peć sanjak in the early 20th century. Austro–Hun- garian activity in this field intensified after the Serbo–Turkish wars and the Congress of Berlin. Violence against the Serbian population had since become more frequent, aided by the fandas that have the support and protection of Roman Catholic priests and Austro-Hungarian diplomats. The Catholic Albanian people commit various forms of zulum over Serbian people, who powerless before them abandoned their properties. A large number of Serbian properties were getting new owners –fandas, that were set- tled with the permission of the beys. The Austria–Hungary, wishing to cause as much disorder as possible, incited the fandas and Mohammedan Albanian people against the Serbian people, in whom they saw the main obstacle to the achievement of their aims and the occupation of these regions. The situation demanded greater involvement of Serbian and Russian diplomacy in protecting the thinned-out Serbian population in Peć and Prizren sanjak.
