Karłowicza przy ul. Solnej w Poznaniu. Szesnaście dotychczasowych spotkań z poezją irlandzką, zarówno tą mówioną, jak i śpiewaną, to szesnaście wspaniałych przeżyć, które pozostaną nam w pamięci. Historia tych lat pokazała, że młodzież polska rozumie i ceni poezję irlandzką i potrafi ją zinterpretować nie gorzej niż rodowici mieszkańcy Zielonej Wyspy. Cieszy mnie niezmiernie, że inicjatywa szkoły PROGRAM (dawniej Program-Bell) przyjęła się wśród młodzieży w naszym regionie i dzięki niej anglojęzyczna poezja Irlandii stała się lekturą i przedmiotem interpretacji słownych i muzycznych. Motto tegorocznego Konkursu to słowa Samuela Beckett’a ”If you do not love me, I shall not be loved. If I do not love you, I shall not love.” W tym roku wybór utworów jest podyktowany szczególnym czasem, w którym przyszło nam żyć i jako przeciwwaga tych trudnych czasów poświęcony jest miłości, przetrwaniu, czy przemijaniu, wierszy smutnych wielokrotnie, nacechowanych jednak zawsze odrobiną optymizm. Rok ten jest też wyjątkowy, bo więcej kobiet staje się widocznych w życiu społecznym i kobiety stają się coraz bardziej znaczącym głosem, który wybrzmiewa publicznie. W tomiku zaprezentujemy trzy nazwiska poetek, takie jak: Eavan Boland, Katharine Tynan czy Eileen Carney Hulme, w tym wiersz Eavan Boland o znamiennym tytule „Quarantine”.

    VOLUNTARY BEST PRACTICES GUIDELINES Street performers, also known as buskers, make a valuable contribution to our vibrant urban fabric. We want to encourage street performances while respecting the reasonable expectations of the greater public to enjoy peace and quiet in their homes and the ability of businesses to conduct commerce. These voluntary guidelines seek to balance the interests of performers with those of residents, visitors and businesses. A respectful environment will create more opportunities for local street performers and make the region a welcoming destination for traveling artists. Following a court challenge, the City of St. Louis repealed its overly broad street performer ordinance in October 2013. Elsewhere in the region, other municipalities have not adopted street performer ordinances. So, street performers are free to perform in any public location, although they are subject to other regulations prohibiting disturbing the peace, obstruction of public passageways, aggressive panhandling and intrusive noise. Drafted by an interested group of participating street performers in collaboration with the St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts (VLAA) and the American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri (ACLU), this consensus document is based on the belief that street performers are largely self- regulating. Our common sense “time, place and manner” guidelines are not intended to prohibit or hinder artistic expression, which is protected by the First Amendment. The goal is to ensure that public areas remain safe and useful for their primary purposes while asserting the rights of street performers and other artists. Background: Burma had been under the British colonial rule from 1885-1948 and gained independence in 1948. The military government took over power from the civilian government in 1962 and has controlled the country since then. In 1989, the military regime changed the name from Burma to Myanmar for political reasons. Aung San Suu Kyi’s return to Burma in 1988 changed the country’s political landscape as she has become the opposition leader and the symbol of Burma’s democratic movement. Her party won elections in 1990; however, they were not allowed to govern the country and she was put under house arrest. Aung San Suu Kyi spent 15 of the past 21 years under house arrest and was released in November 2010. She decided to run in the 2012 by-elections and has become a Member of Parliament. Suffering from one of the world’s longest civil wars (between ethnic minorities and majority Burmans), Burma has become one of the least developed countries in Southeast Asia. Politics Business Science Sport Roses Freshers Muse › Music › News Features Reviews Playlists Live Review: Kodaline Francesca Donovan travels the long path to Fibbers to report on Kodaline’s performance Tuesday 5 March 2013 The charismatic quartet open with the ethereal ‘Lose Your Mind’, accumulating in Kodaline’s signature crashing chorus line — an intriguing introduction to the set. They continue in a predictable but inescapable manner for a band with a relatively small repertoire, playing a selection of songs from their upcoming album In a Perfect World. Of course, including the justly famous ‘All I Want’ their debut single that shot to fame and has been heard by millions (knowingly or not) thanks to Google’s ‘Zeitgeist 2012’ television advert. A haunting and moving performance of a very good song. Much in the same vein, Kodaline’s other songs are beautifully crafted pieces of music, simple, memorable melodies being the template for all; a formula sure to generate popular appeal. The performance is polished and nearly without fault. There’s always a danger when dense rock invades smaller venues; sometimes the melodies are lost to the heavy drumming and bass, resulting in headaches rather than gratification, and the result can be clunky rather than chunky. Kodaline avoid this pitfall entirely. Steve, Mark, Vinny and Jason’s instruments blend easily together to create one loud and powerful sound: a true band, not simply four individuals contributing their own disconnected musical components. Throughout the set, we were treated to persistently solid timekeeping from drummer, Vinny, and faultless fretwork from all three guitarists.
