ICORS 2015 Information for Domestic Participants ICORS 2015 Information for Domestic Participants 1. General Information: The name of the conference is “International Conference on Robust Statistics 2015” (ICORS 2015). It will be held from 12th January 2015 to 16th January, 2015, in the premises of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). The technical sessions will be in the auditorium of the Platinum Jubilee Academic (PJA) building, or the seminar rooms of the A. N. Kolmogorov Bhavan (NAB 1 and NAB 2). The first building is marked with an X in the accompanying map. The second building is building number 28 in the map. The region marked by Y in the map is the lawn next to the New Guest House of ISI, where the conference lunches are arranged. 2. How to reach ISI, Kolkata a. Address of Indian Statistical Institute, Academic Campus: Indian Statistical Institute, 203 B. T. Road, Kolkata 700 108. The Institute is located in the northern fringes of the city of Kolkata. The bus stop for the Academic Campus is generally referred to as the “ISI” or “Statistical” stop. The nearest landmark is Dunlop Bridge, which is the next bus stop on B. T. Road going further north (about 500 meters from the main gate of ISI). The full form of B. T. Road is Barrackpore Trunk Road. The location of the Kolkata campus of the Institute is approximately 6 km north of the Shyambazar 5-point crossing (which has a statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose), one of the best known landmarks of Kolkata. If you are going northward, the ISI Campus will be on your left. Several public and private buses stop at the “ISI” bus stop. These include 32A, 34B/1, 78, 78/1, 78C, 201, 214, 214A, 230, 234, 234/1, DN9, DN9/1, 9A, S9, S11 and S32. The Mini-Buses that ply from Howrah to Nimta, Howrah to Belghoria, Howrah to Rathtala, BBD Bag to Dunlop Bridge and Babughat to Sodepur/New Barrackpore go past the ISI gates. Major bus stops on your way when travelling from Shyambazar to ISI (south to north) will be Chiria More, Sinthi More and Tobin Road. There is another Gate to the Academic Campus which is the 204 B. T. Road Gate, located about 250 meters south of the 203 B. T. Road Gate. However, visitors generally enter the Academic Campus through the 203 B. T. Road Gate. b. Address of the Indian Statistical Institute, Residential Campus: Indian Statistical Institute, 205 B. T. Road, Kolkata 700 108. The bus stop of the Residential Campus is referred to as “Bonhooghly”. It is about 400 meters to the south of the ISI bus stop (the last one before reaching the Academic Campus when coming from the south). The Academic Campus and the Residential Campus are separated by a narrow public road. There is a subway connecting the Academic and Residential Complexes, and one does not have to come out on B. T. Road to reach the other Campus. All buses that stop at the ISI bus stop also stop at the Bonhooghly bus stop. The Indian Statistical Institute Guest House, and the ISEC Hostel/Guest House is within the 205 B. T. Road Residential Campus. During regular office hours and during the Breakfast/Dinner periods somebody will be available at the Guest House. If you arrive at other times, you will pick up the Keys to your room from the Security. Taxi: The blue bordered yellow taxis of Kolkata run on meter. These are now slowing changing over to blue bordered white taxis. For most taxis, the final fare will be the amount you see on the meter. However for taxis with old meters (there are very few of them left now) the final fare has to be converted from the amount shown in the meter. The taxi driver has a conversion chart, but here is a quick conversion formula: Total Fare = Rs. (Meter Reading x 2.4 +1). Thus a meter reading of Rs. 60 converts to a total fare of Rs. 145. The normal fare from the airport to the Residential Campus is Rs. 180. The normal fare from the Howrah Station is about the same, and that from the Sealdah station would be about Rs. 160. Prepaid rates may be slightly higher. There are some other cabs on the roads of Kolkata apart from the blue bordered yellow taxis, but they are few in number, and generally cost more. Taxis coming to ISI from the Airport will normally take elevated Belghoria Expressway from the Jessore Road and get out near Dunlop Bridge at Dakshineswar. When coming from Howrah or Sealdah Station, Taxis will normally cross Shyambazar, Chiria More, Sinthi More and Tobin Road en route to ISI. In case of any trouble with Taxis, you call the traffic control room at 98300 10000, or 98308 11111. 3. ISI Guest House and ISEC Hoste/Guest House: The ISI Guest House is marked 13 in the Institute map (next to the area marked “Y”). Each room of the Guest House has a phone with a four digit number. For local calls from outside the Institute the full number can be obtained by putting 2575 before the number. You may receive calls directly on this phone. Thus if the number of the room phone is 0001, the number to be called (from within Kolkata) is 2575 0001, and (from outside Kolkata) is 033 2575 0001. You cannot make direct external calls from your room phone in the guest house. However there are many public phone booths in the cross road across B. T. Road, as you come out through 205 B. T. Road Main Gate. The Guest House is wi-fi enabled. It may require setting up your computer. There are a few computers with internet access in the Ground Floor of the Guest House as well. The ISEC Guest House/Hostel is the left hand side of the building marked 4. This is the residence of the international students attending the “International Statistical Education Centre” courses. Some guests will also be accommodated in the rooms of this Guest House/Hostel. 4. ATMs: There is an ATM of Allahabad Bank on campus, which is located in building 16. There is also an ATM of ICICI bank right across the road from the 203 B. T. Road Main Gate of the Institute. There are other ATMS also within walking distance from the Bonhooghly bus stop. The fragile narrow Noai Canal now flowing between New Barrackpore and Madhyamgram was then a wide river, called Labanyabati. Big boats from Majhergaon carrying scented tobacco, paddy and fine works of embroidery used to travel along the river to various parts of the country. In 1882, for the first time ever, Majhergaon was connected with rail road to Duttapukur. In the labyrinth of time, the name Majhergaon got erased from the public memory like the river Labanyabati and King Protapaditya and today we find a modern and rapidly growing township called Madhyamgram, at the northern fringes of Kolkata, whose time has come. • Emerging Investment Hotspots
Emerging investment hotspots Mining opportunities from the Complex Real Estate Terrain of India 2 On Point • Emerging investment hotspots ndia has its own unique and integral complexities and business is not an exception to it. Corporations strive for increased efficiency and productivity amidst these complexities. Real estate is an integral ingredient in the formation and growth of all Ibusinesses and steadily maturing into a big business itself. As such the performance of real estate sector depends largely on the performance of the economy and the businesses in specific. Decision makers have been in a state of indeterminacy given the fabric and structure of how the country keeps oscillating between promises & optimism and persistent challenges & policy inertia. The recently approved Real Estate Regulatory Bill is an important initiative by the government to address the concerns of real estate sector. Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill that is yet to be approved is also expected to be another step towards regulating the real estate sector. However, information asymmetries and laxity in disclosure norms need to be addressed for the real estate sector to achieve optimum potential in development and investments. While the real estate sector is moving ahead slowly and steadily, certain inaction is resulting in to stagnation from this dense and multifaceted much to be attained growth. At a juncture like this, there is a need for a focused push in the right direction for the real estate industry to remain buoyant going forward. It is therefore essential for all stakeholders to equip themselves with a deeper understanding of not only the real estate sector but also the businesses they serve.

  • KOLKATA Residential Q2 2020
M A R K E T B E AT KOLKATA Residential Q2 2020 Sharp contraction in residential launches due to the Covid-19 outbreak Kolkata witnessed just 427 unit launches in Q2, a contraction of around 79% q-o-q, with the impact of COVID and the lockdown weighing heavy on the city’s real estate sector. Construction activity for ongoing projects has also come to a grinding halt. Phase 4 of Srijan Realty’s Greenfield City project alone NEW UNIT LAUNCHES (Q2 2020) 427 accounted for around 45% of the new launches with small, local developers contributing the rest. Even before the pandemic, the city’s residential sector had been experiencing stagnancy in sales with demand levels remaining sluggish. This trend is likely to persist over the next few quarters due to the rising economic uncertainty and slightly muted buyer sentiments. This is likely to create more pressure on developers’ liquidity positions, given limited funding DROP IN Q-O-Q UNIT LAUNCHES availability and subdued sales environment. While the larger, branded developers may be able to tide over the current conditions, the problems may ~80% (Q2 2020) intensify for smaller developers and this can further impact project completions. However, new unit launches are expected to reach pre-COVID levels only by H1 2021 due to labour issues and the near term focus on under construction projects. Inseparable and timeless Flows endlessly Even with the blood dancing in your veins, you maintain a stoic calm while you flow Weathered by intangible tides You froth and foam ceaselessly The clouds shed their tears to form you And the light finds a new glimmer on your body You emerge from darkness And carry in your watery whirls The endless constellations, galaxies, the moon and stars’ – Rabindranath Tagore on River Ganga Disclaimer Any part of this brochure, whether in writing or otherwise, is only indicative and no part of the brochure should be treated as a commitment and / or undertaking either from the owner or from the developer.
