The regional capital of northern Thailand, it’s role as a center for Lanna culture, trade and commerce, agricultural production, and traditional handicrafts makes it one of Thailand’s more prominent cities and a popular tourist destination. In 2019, Chiang Mai took in nearly 11 million domestic and foreign tourists (Tourism Authority of Thailand, 2020). -
