Stagger Lanayru79 11/21/2015 5:11 PM

While I'll continue to put in work on LoZ mini-games (see previous Play Journal entry) and drop whatever I'm playing to join a Totem w/ friends, an any% playthrough of my favorite RPG ever will fill my time between now and the first week of December.

I have no experience skipping XC Quests, Landmarks and UMs. The goal here is to finish at the lowest level I can. I'll update at major battles, with

AlienSquid 11/21/2015 5:17 PM I'm at the marsh on my first ever playthrough on . Loving it so far I don't think I'll make it through before Christmas tho

E Yeah! e 1

Stagger 11/21/2015 5:19 PM exponentially less detail than I did during my 100% playthrough last spring. If you're on the edge of your seat for my thoughts on the minutiae of story and gameplay, both the best in the genre I've encountered, those are the posts to look back on. I know the public hungers for my gibberish. :p

I'll be marking spoilers from beyond Xord in the comments here. Wish me luck! E Yeah♥ e 1 D

Meagan 11/21/2015 5:32 PM I'll be looking forward to your progress. Xenoblade is one of my favorites!

E Yeah! e 3 D

Justin86 11/21/2015 5:46 PM Getting warmed up for Xenoblade Chronicles X? From what I've seen of gameplay footage, the world in that game may be about as vast as the one in this game, if not larger.

E Yeah! e 3 D

Stagger 11/21/2015 6:02 PM It's a magical experience Chris! The Wii version is preferable imo, not that this one isn't exquisite. Thanks for the follow!

@Meagan: I appreciate the support! My longwinded work about this yarn was after release in the spring up through early summer. It's going to as hard not commenting on the tale (this sweeping introduction!) as it will be restraining my urge to explore this world fully a ...

E Yeah! e 2 D

YahnYahner 11/21/2015 6:03 PM should i get xenoblade E Yeah! e 0

Stagger 11/21/2015 6:14 PM third time. Ignoring Collectibles and Quests is already killing me. :p I'm only really commenting right now not to be rude to you kind folks.

@Justin: XCX's world dwarfs this one by all accounts. :o

@Johnny: If you like RPGs, especially if you're into them but have grown weary of turn-based combat w/ random encounters, and are prepared to give up at least 150 hours to do it right, XC is a must.

E Yeah♥ e 1 D

Nintendoer 11/21/2015 6:48 PM Notifications! I'm afraid I won't be playing this before XCX's release. I just don't have enough time, even for an any% run.

E Yeah! e 0 D

Stagger 11/21/2015 10:00 PM ·Spoilers Understandable comrade. Welcome aboard! I'm pretty sure I'll have the time, and this should be an exciting challenge for me. After the welcome interruption of our TFH session tonight, I had to eat, and won't get back to the innocuous errand in Tephra Cave until the morning. Unavoidable combat and actually opening chests awaits! E Yeah! e 2 D

Frog 11/22/2015 9:21 AM How do you raise affinity between party members?

E Yeah! e 1 D

Meagan 11/22/2015 10:34 AM Level 99 clear data. That's impressive!

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/22/2015 5:21 PM I answered elsewhere br'er Frog.

@Meagan: Thanks. It's certainly an investment of time. The impressive stuff is the completed Achievements list, all Level X Arts, and the max single playthrough Affinity Coins.

This is humbling. I only had to fight one Iron Bunniv to reach this point, so w/ zero gear upgrades at Level 6 across the crew, we're getting trounced here. I'm close but it's rough! E Yeah! e 2 D

Stagger 11/22/2015 5:32 PM Ha! Got there on that attempt, thanks mainly to a four link chain that came with an Achievement and a mid-battle level-up. :p I'll have to be much sharper for the ensuing rumble with this starter equipment ... no Fiora, your brother didn't remotely destroy them all a year ago. Oh the twisted metal to come ...

E Yeah! e 0 D

AlienSquid 11/22/2015 5:34 PM I'm inside the bionis right now on my playthrough and I'd also like to know how to raise affinity between characters. But instead of wasting your time that you need to spend working your way through the game I'll just look it up myself. E Yeah! e 0

Stagger 11/22/2015 5:39 PM Ah Chris, tap on that young Frog gentleman and see his first post from XC3d from 3 days ago for my answers. Alternatively, Nintendoer had an exceptionally thorough set of tips for players new to the game that he posted back after release. It was an awesome project! My Unique Monster index posts were my pride and joy then. (as for the LttP glitch, I abstain, but love comes in many forms right? :p)

E Yeah! e 2 D

Frog 11/22/2015 5:57 PM I've...kind of...buried that post...

E Yeah! e 1 D

Nintendoer 11/22/2015 6:07 PM 120 tips total, in fact. And for those interested in them, here's a link to the index post, so you can jump to any tip you may want to see from there. https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAADVHj_vnH1wA

You're already feeling the effects of being at a lower level it would seem. Keep it up!

E Yeah! e 2 D

Stagger 11/22/2015 6:24 PM Oh Frog, it's not that big of a scroll to get to your post in question ...

@'doer: Yes! I'm way out of my depth and loving it. It took me a good twenty minutes to beat them, ha!

Things are different now though. A level 20 left-hand sword wielding Dunban and a Monado give me some hope approaching this incredible bout w/ Metal Face. The opening to this game is basically perfect. E Yeah! e 1 D

AlienSquid 11/22/2015 6:30 PM it was an easy post to find since its your favorite post. thanks for the info!

E Yeah! e 0

Stagger 11/22/2015 6:33 PM Aw Frog, whether a kind gesture or just love of the game, either way I salute you. Most welcome Chris ...

Psychotic antagonist? Check. Bonding and bravado? Check. Grand entrances? Must run in the family Fiora, because yours almost matcges Dunban's. Big check. Then there motivation to fight ... no problem there.

Metal Face has a couple levels on my youngsters, but I've got full faith in my skills E Yeah♥ e 1 D

Stagger 11/22/2015 6:37 PM to get this done w/out incident. Some better gear might be in order for starting the journey ahead following this dramatic moment.

*there's* motivation, pardon ... I still get pretty emotional during this moment. I'll probably have to take a break afterwards. The soundtrack, the voice acting - storytelling on this level is so rare. Loss, vengeance, mystery, all effortlessly woven together ...

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/22/2015 6:58 PM That was the walk in the park I remembered it to be (one chain attack capped by a double damage Steel Strike from Dunban), but I'm betting it's the last easy thing I'll get to do. I'm just dipping my toe in this weekend, and will get pretty serious about making progress throughout the week. Back to Hyrule I go ...

E Yeah♥ e 1 D

AlienSquid 11/22/2015 7:06 PM I wish I had more time to play xenoblade before Christmas when Ivan play X. For some reason I didn't like the game when I first played it two years ago. I started over and realized I didn't give it a fair chance. Love love love this game to death right now!

E Yeah! e 1

AlienSquid 11/22/2015 7:07 PM I can* not Ivan

E Yeah! e 0

Frog 11/22/2015 7:23 PM Actually, I made that post my favorite so my profile would show the title screen of the game I'm currently playing. However, in the Friends section of my 3DS, I did change my favorite title from SSB to XC. The music in this game is amazing. • Title Theme • You Will Know Our Names • Gaur Plain (both day & night) • Mechanical Rhythm (I heard it in the SSB) • other songs I can't remember the names of

E Yeah! e 0 D

Frog 11/22/2015 7:29 PM Even before I considered playing XC, "You Will Know Our Names" was the go-to hype song in SSB for my friends and I, although the reason for choosing that song was because one of my friends chose as his main. The reason for him choosing Shulk is another story entirely unrelated to XC.

E Yeah! e 0 D

Zachary 11/23/2015 9:14 AM Oh boy oh boy

E Yeah! e 0 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 9:15 AM Filling up the jukebox was well worth the Play Coins and finding a Shulk amiibo Frogster. ;)

Whew, this is no joke! I took on my second optional battle of the playthrough w/ the Arachnae just before this mandatory rumble to level up once and have a chance here. I only had the funds to get each of my boys one piece of improved armor, and it may be enough. As for my chances against the Queen ...

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 9:17 AM ... it might be a longshot, heh. I'm hoping the loot here gets me up to Level 10 and provides funds for some more Gear upgrades. I am so unprepared for this run, having only the over powered 100% experience under my belt. E Yeah! e 1 D

Meagan 11/23/2015 10:03 AM Speaking of amiibos, I need to get a Shulk. Hey does the Shulk amiibo have any function with the game?

E Yeah! e 0 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 10:28 AM Its only function is to provide three Tokens for the Raffle on a daily basis, which for completists is quite a boon.

Many failures later, enough that I was able to level an Art for each guy and finish their first Skill, I hit Level 10 mid-battle. Huge change - the two Level 9 Directors were really clogging up the works w/ the gaggle of Level 7 Workers. E Yeah! e 2 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 10:51 AM I think I can pull this off w/out improved equipment. Going to be pretty dodgy though ... the Arachno Queen is only Level 12, and as my guys have jumped to 11 wiping out the first wave of her subordinates, it's not that bad a disparity, even w/out a single Gem in my possession. I'm starting to think avoiding Collectibles was an unwise choice. I don't fight anything and haven't accepted a single

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 10:52 AM Quest, so I have no monetary resources to improve my equipment. Collectibles were probably the best loophole w/out risking unwanted level- ups. Hrrm ... if I falter this time, I'll get her after lunch. The Monado will grow with me, eh?

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 11:45 AM Ah, those Xenoblade skies ... I failed three times after that, in each case clearing out all of the minions but having nothing left in the tank for the Queen. In the process, I reached Level 13, making the successful attempt a little less gratifying than it would have been to win a little sooner. I'm actually close to 14, so here's hoping that Landmarks and Locations get me in decent shape for ...

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 11:54 AM repeated Juju rescuing. Boy will his sister be a welcome addition ...

Sunrise over Gaur Plain feels very right. Level 14 was a Location away. I feel like I'm underachieving so far, and probably going about this the wrong way. Selling off a bunch of Collectibles for better gear and reaping the Gem rewards from the Collectopoedia might have been a more minimalist approach. Ah well. I'm enjoying it!

E Yeah! e 2 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 3:42 PM After a nice break, and some nominal sparring with the Mechon near Raguel Bridge, it's time to bite off more than I can chew once again. ;) That bit of scrapping metal did improve my gear tremendously and put the party on the precipice of Level 16, but Juju's tentacled assailant weighs in at 18. At least seeing my way over the hump at 15 might be warranted here. It's a tricky fight ... E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 3:45 PM Sharla did just make it with the Spiral Valley Landmark. That's something ... I've continued to avoid gaining even a single Collecrible, or venturing near any unnecessary Locations or Landmarks for the automatic EXP, AP and SP. This ought to be interesting. At least most of the Colony 9 boys' original gear is replaced. Shulk's defense is so paltry still ...

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 4:16 PM Ah, no sweat! We were summarily dismissed the first time, but after consulting with some cookies for strength, I devised a pretty straightforward set of tactics to get through the first phase. I set about dismantling the Level 15 tentacles of the M-71 first, which both kept us from direct exposure to the central Mechon and brought the fellows up to Level 16. Atop the Spiral, it's been a tough ... E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 4:18 PM balancing on a lot of levels. Using the Monado to Enchant and for Speed is tricky, as was positioning Shulk for his other Arts while keeping Aggro where it belongs. One well-timed Chain Attack later, victory is assured on just a second effort. I was expecting this to be tougher, but I'm playing well. More cookies, clearer head! Nutter Butters btw ...

E Yeah♥ e 2 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 4:24 PM I could watch Sharla slap then embrace Juju in a loop for about ten minutes. Storytelling gold! Speaking of which, enter the blood-curdling voice of Xord. Prepare for another rescue mission gang. Things are about to get very interesting and awfully grim beneath Colony 6. I'll resume later tonight. Man do I love this game! It's a very fun and different experience focusing just on the main plot.

E Yeah!? e 3 D

Nintendoer 11/23/2015 4:37 PM As you're quickly discovering, it's hard to define "minimalist" conditions in this game. Should you strictly keep your levels as low as possible? Or try to avoid all quests and collectibles, meaning a bit more grinding? Personally, I think trying a minimal achievement run would be fun, something I'll likely do in the future. It would require a lot of planning...

E Yeah! e 2 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 4:46 PM Wow, would that ever require planning ... I notice I get all kinds of the minor Achievements w/out even considering them heh. My plan has been to use the Mines for saleable crystals and finally having a Gem or twenty, heh. That way I can have some respectable Gear as the challenge gets ever steeper and the encounters become harder to avoid.

E Yeah! e 1 D

Frog 11/23/2015 5:39 PM ·Spoilers Xord's voice acting gave me the willies. I was intimidated by the way he says "I ate them all!" later. E Yeah! e 2 D

Stagger 11/23/2015 9:42 PM Ah I took my leave of the Bionis to go adventuring in Hytopia too soon. It's nobody's fault but mine. I was overeager to stand around carefully restraining the Boomerang. :p Unfortunately, I'm too tired to meet my progress goal for the day, and work will intervene some tomorrow. I should still be able to play a bit though.

Thanks everyone for the kind support and encouragement!

E Yeah! e 3 D

Meagan 11/24/2015 9:21 AM ·Spoilers The battle with Xord in the Central Pit was intense. Him coming from the Ether river was unexpected.

E Yeah! e 2 D

Stagger 11/24/2015 9:25 AM No doubt Meagan! Gripping stuff - and I'm approaching it. I took out the group of Level 20 and 21 Mechon that had Otaharon pinned down with my crew at Level 18. Pretty strong fighting with incredibly hodgepodge equipment, but I'm turning the corner now with ether crystal resources to fund gear and craft Gems ... I intend to only grind as a result of failure, not preemptively. ;) E Yeah! e 3 D

Stagger 11/24/2015 11:18 AM Gadolt and Otharon are such solid characters. Neither is ingratiating, heh ...

I probably could have run past a few of the Mechon encounters while under assault on the way to the depths of the Central Pit. They're not technically unavoidable, like these are, just in close quarters where enduring some damage in flight is the best hopeful escape. That being said, Xord is Level 25, and for a

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/24/2015 11:20 AM reasonable shot at victory there, the modicum of Landmark and Location experience wasn't going to cut it. Not to mention gear, ugh ... I hope Xord's level isn't higher than it was at Spiral Valley anyway. If it is, I'm outmatched. As Is, I'm hoping the mandatory bouts get me to 22 or so. Closing in ... E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/24/2015 11:35 AM Yeah, no dice. Just Level 21 ... lucky pickup of some slotted Grand Armor, but my paltry three Gems don't spread that far. :p It could be a long slog trashing the help before I'm strong enough to upset the bronze-faced barbaric Homs gobbler. What a hidden backstory this brute has ...

E Yeah!? e 1 D

Nintendoer 11/24/2015 11:38 AM Best of luck! Xord is definitely the first big obstacle, so I'm not sure if level 21 will cut it. I had to be 23 on the two any% playthroughs I did, and even then I had a fair amount of gems. If you can do it at 21, I will be seriously impressed.

E Yeah! e 2 D

Stagger 11/24/2015 11:59 AM That's the most discouraging encouragement I can imagine comrade. :p I wanted to Topple the brute once before skip traveling to the Ether Furnace. Furriness ... ah, I'm getting way ahead of myself.

E Yeah♥ e 2 D

Stagger 11/24/2015 12:01 PM I'm going to give it my best though. I have cobbled together pretty good equipment at least, so a handful of Gem boosts and another level up would really give me great hope. E Yeah! e 2 D

Nintendoer 11/24/2015 12:02 PM I guess it was kinda discouraging, but I really didn't mean it that way. If you toppled him, you're doing good.

E Yeah♥ e 2 D

Stagger 11/24/2015 12:10 PM Ha! I know you didn't. You're just much more experienced, so it's very daunting yet motivational. I had about ¼ of his health chipped away before being overpowered. Strategies come to mind to keep trying without increasing stats, but the main one of arriving with a hefty Party Gauge kind of defeats the purpose of the playthrough. Got to get ready for work unfortunately ... you're mine later Xord!

E Yeah♥ e 1 D

Zachary 11/24/2015 12:33 PM Your lucky you ge to get xeonblades X when it releases I gotta wait

E Yeah... e 2 D

AlienSquid 11/24/2015 1:28 PM I have to wait till Christmas but I think I'm getting the collectors edition tho

E Yeah! e 1

Stagger 11/25/2015 7:09 AM Read 'em and weep 'doer! I didn't have the mental clarity for any attempts last night, and I got the Phoenix Achievement and reached Level 22 with a negligible improvement to my Gem set this morning, but down goes first Xord! It only took two Chains, the second going for five links with a Buster, Sword Drive and Backslash (directly after the Chain) all connecting to advance to the Otharon drama. E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/25/2015 7:22 AM By negligible, I mean I've got two Muscle Up IIIs, two HP+IIs, a Strength II and an Ether Defense II. That's it heh ... a little Bleed Defense and Topple Resist could have been mighty helpful there. I had to be super sharp with Party Command and positioning to get the job done, and now I'll be stuck hoofing it to grind if I can't fade the Freight Elevator confrontation. All well worth it for that

E Yeah♥ e 1 D

Stagger 11/25/2015 7:25 AM victory! One concern I have is a fine problem to deal with. All of my pertinent Arts for this trio are at least Level III, and a good chunk have reached IV. Hawking Collectibles to start getting some Intermediate Arts Manuals is going to be almost a must from this point forward.

Advice on that subject Nintenbroer? I really can't see going through the game with my Arts capped a Level IV ...

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/25/2015 7:33 AM Ah, I'm not sure why I was worried about this in the slightest. Without distractions or Monado immunity, Xord's a big baby. Too easy too defend provided I monitor Shulk's Monado Arts use ... what a sequence of events the Central Pit provides though. I relish these portions of the game, both from a story and gameplay perspective.

E Yeah! e 1 D Stagger 11/25/2015 7:42 AM ·Spoilers Out of the frying pan ... from here on I'll mark my comments as spoilers. It seems about right point in the game to do so. This sociopath's appearance, and the impending rescue by major figures like Dunban, Dickson and Alvis are a huge turning point. I'll take a break before heading off to one of the greatest areas in gaming for my money ...

E Yeah! e 2 D

Stagger 11/25/2015 7:56 AM ·Spoilers I'm not shocking the world with a rapid time so far, heh ... I think it's decent, but the chance of me finishing in under 50 hours is pretty remote. Dickson with his two Arts, ha! I will get Shulk out of the lead with Mechon a distant threat for a while, probably running with the other three for a bit. After I eat lunch in an hour or so, it's off to the Shimmering Marsh! E Yeah♥ e 2 D

Frog 11/25/2015 8:44 AM How do you get Chain Attacks to give you the opportunity to keep on going? Affinity?

E Yeah! e 2 D

Meagan 11/25/2015 9:07 AM ·Spoilers Congratulations on beating Xord! Yeah, those three rescuing you was awesome.

E Yeah! e 0 D

Stagger 11/25/2015 12:52 PM ·Spoilers @Frog: Affinity between active party members is the biggest factor. There are Skills that increase the chances too, with an effect that can be compounded by linking to them.

Thanks Meagan! Given how level discrepancy effects combat in XC, it's a pretty proud moment. I'm sure I've never fought him under level 30 before, heh ...

So far in Satorl, the only scrap I've gotten into was with two Detox

E Yeah! e 1 D Stagger 11/25/2015 12:55 PM ·Spoilers Brogs reaching the Radiant on the Alter of Trials. While I know full well where all four Radiants are, I've probably touched a couple unnecessary Landmarks and Locations avoiding Igna and Volfs here. It's backwards that night time is safer. ;) Now can I sneak this one out from under Aggressive Cornelius' nose?

E Yeah! e 2 D

AlienSquid 11/25/2015 1:04 PM You're almost caught up to me! I just fought the telethia

E Yeah! e 1

Stagger 11/25/2015 1:19 PM ·Spoilers Heh, yeah but I'm going bare bones here Chris. Nine hours probably didn't get me much past Colony 9 on my previous playthroughs. :p

I'll alter something alright, yeesh. *Altar of Fate* ... everything was wrong with that. I also failed on one Radiant locale, unnecessarily poking around in Gogol country after forgetting about the Dark Swamp. My overconfidence is my weakness. Double :p ... E Yeah! e 2 D

Nintendoer 11/25/2015 1:23 PM ·Spoilers Collectibles, mining, generic quests (ones that only give money)...whatever way you want to make money. But yeah, having intermediate art books is important. Of course, you should pick and choose which ones you would like more. In a "normal" playthrough, it's kinda unrealistic to buy every single book at every store you come across.

E Yeah! e 2 D

Stagger 11/25/2015 1:23 PM ·Spoilers I'm not so sure my current powers are going to be up to the task of the Sororal Guardian, and I'm hoping for some TFH action pretty shortly, so I'll take a break here. I'd like to reach the Telethia Chris mentioned tonight, but we'll see ...

I did note an interesting, regretful remark by Dickson when the guests parted ways. There's a lot to that character ... E Yeah! e 1 D

Nintendoer 11/25/2015 1:28 PM Ah, I've got dinner cooking now, so I'll wait to play at this point, sorry.

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/25/2015 1:45 PM ·Spoilers With that worthwhile delay to Hytopian hijynx in mind, I'm getting a sense for whether I can pull this off or not. I'm keen to do so Shulk-free, although he certainly opens up other strategic avenues. I might be able to hand this fearsome Level 28 Ansel an improbable defeat, but surviving the Winged Awakening to Level 29 is going to be the key factor. E Yeah♥ e 1 D

Stagger 11/25/2015 2:34 PM ·Spoilers Oh baby! Down goes the Saroral Guardian! This attempt started a lot worse than the previous ones, and the Ulta Poison Stab III would have been neutralized by Monado Shield, but I came up with some great aggressive strategies. The hortible Spin attack that overgrown colorful parakeet uses is strictly mayhem, but warning Sharla for a Tranquilizer would change the equation surprisingly enough. Dunban

Stagger 11/25/2015 2:36 PM ·Spoilers is a joy to wield. Keeping his Gale/Worldly Slash combo in rotation with Spirit Breath and building Blossom Dance manglers was very fun, so I'm glad I left Shulk on the sidelines. Awakening to Level 30? No match for conservative Party Gage use! Whew, I thought for sure Level 24 was light, Nice!

Oh, and *ultra* ... break time! E Yeah! e 1 D

AlienSquid 11/25/2015 2:50 PM I'm about to give up on this game after losing to the highentia masked guards that wipe out my lvl 36 party every time. Doesn't matter who I use I can't damage them. I've tried everything

E Yeah! e 1

Straggler 11/25/2015 2:55 PM ·Spoilers Huh, *Satorl* Guardian ... always thought they had tied the name to the statues rather than the region.

@Chris: Have you left Shulk out of the party altogether? That's the move. He's got a bit of a handicap - the Monado won't hurt Homs or High Entia. The reason for this will unravel fairly soon in the story ... hope you catch this response. I won't be back on my main account for a little bit.

E Yeah! e 1

Zachary 11/25/2015 3:08 PM I'm enjoying this play through so much!

E Yeah! e 0 D Stagger 11/25/2015 3:21 PM ·Spoilers Aw I'm glad br'er Zachary, I am too. Just to give you an idea of how much these boss bouts are trial and error, that fight alone added basically 45 minutes to my file time. I got beat somewhere between five and ten times before succeeding, whereas on my first XC3d playthrough, I never lost in any mandatory encounter. Shorter TFH break than anticipated, I'll head through the Bionis!

E Yeah! e 1 D

AlienSquid 11/25/2015 3:32 PM I tried getting rid of shulk with no luck. They keep piling on chain attacks and my party gets wiped out before I can build up a chain attack

Stagger 11/28/2015 7:37 AM ·Spoilers I hope you got by that Chris!

I've been busy elsewhere the past couple of days, but I'll try to make some solid progress around Totem Time today. While I'm underlevelled for common encounters in Makna Forest, this is a pretty fair fight for Shulk and Alvis in his brief guest starring role.

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/28/2015 7:39 AM ·Spoilers I'll have to stay on top of self-healing the Heir to the Monado, but Alvis can take care of himself. Unbeatable VI works wonders for that ...

Stagger 11/28/2015 8:38 AM ·Spoilers Dickson has one too. Eldritch buggers ...

If there is an RPG with a better set of introductions for new party members, I'd like to play it. I actually laugh harder and appreciate the nuances of Melia's arrival to the crew more, but the Heropon is just a scene stealing, show stopping star. E Yeah! e 2 D

Stagger 11/28/2015 2:05 PM ·Spoilers Meh, I disappeared for lunch and just made my way over to the Leone Telethia to refresh my memory on what level it is. 36 is more than a stretch for a level 27 party, and a poorly equipped one at that. The odds of me taking an interest in either putting in the time to get the necessary Gems or grinding out Levels to get to 31 at the very least are sadly kind of slim. Too much else I'd rather do in

Stagger 11/28/2015 2:09 PM the remaining days leading up to XCX ... I might come back to this playthrough in two or three months. It was thrilling having more challenging mandatory boss fights, but ignoring massive chunks of the Bionis and the throng of enjoyable NPCs and their requests isn't a worthwhile tradeoff for enjoyment's sake. Just my personal taste I guess - hats off to those who have mastered these types of runs.

Zachary 11/28/2015 2:11 PM Your quitting?(sad puppy dog eyes)

E Yeah... e 0 D Stagger 11/28/2015 2:16 PM Yup. Like I said, I might pick up where I left off in a while. Say, back half of February ... it's not that I don't feel skilled or knowledgeable enough to complete the playthrough. I've only got 12 hours or so of file time into it. It's a matter of when I started, when other things I want to play are releasing, and the nature of what is required of me at this juncture: about two hours of boredom.

Zachary 11/28/2015 2:19 PM Awww I wish I was getting Xeonblades X and release...

E Yeah... e 0 D

Stagger 11/28/2015 2:20 PM ... or a complete betrayal of the work I've put in so far. I don't have the energy, wherewithal, or time to continually do it right now at the lowest level I can muster. I'm not going to just throw away all the avoidance of useful Affinity Coins, Landmark bonuses, and easy Quests I've done thus far by taking a cheap route to the finish line.

Nintendoer 11/28/2015 2:21 PM For the record, I have not done any sort of attempt at a "minimalist" run. Only any% ones, staying at a reasonable level by just defeating monsters in my path, collecting items and selling them for cash, making gems from materials I happen to mine, etc. Basically just staying at a reasonable level and equipment quality.

By the way, I know you're getting X. Will you be going on Miiverse...

E Yeah! e 1 D

Nintendoer 11/28/2015 2:22 PM ...blackout, or playing multiplayer with the XNG? E Yeah♥ e 0 D

Stagger 11/28/2015 2:26 PM That's probably what I should have done this first time not 100%ing it 'doer, but you know how we're wired. Lunatic gamers eh? To answer your question, both. I'll check my Messages and Notifications, but not my Activity Feed. I know it will be a 4-6 week thing. I want to hunt with my friends who are playing, just not have even the smallest thing spoiled for me that I can avoid outside those hunts.

E Yeah♥ e 1 D

Zachary 11/28/2015 2:30 PM Do you mean hunt as in monster hunter or something else?

E Yeah! e 0 D

Stagger 11/28/2015 2:33 PM @Zachary: XCX has an on-line multiplayer component for tackling overpowered Unique Monsters with friends, and it's quite possibly going to be useful for other purposes.

E Yeah! e 0 D

Zachary 11/28/2015 2:36 PM Oh when I get it could we give it a try?

E Yeah! e 1 D

Frog 11/28/2015 2:43 PM XCX will have multiplayer? Cool. That's one thing that could have made XC even better.

E Yeah! e 1 D

Stagger 11/28/2015 8:04 PM NG+ would take an all-time great game and turn it into about as boring an experience as I can imagine. There is nothing to play for from a completed 100% file except for 157 more Affinity Coins each trip. I have everything. Also, I said I'd probably get back to it in a few months. Frankly, what I choose to do with my time is my business Zachary. If I don't feel like spending two hours mining and

Zachary 11/28/2015 8:05 PM Oh ok I can't wait till then

E Yeah! e 0 D

Stagger 11/28/2015 8:09 PM fighting in Makna Forest just to proceed, that's my prerogative. Furthermore, starting Friday I'll be playing the sequel to this with most of my waking hours for six weeks. I'd like to go into that experience enthusiastically, not burnt out.
