TENNESSEE FOOTBALL ALUM OVINCE SAINT PREUX HEADLINES UFC® RETURN TO NASHVILLE AGAINST GLOVER TEIXEIRA Las Vegas – The Octagon® will touch down in Tennessee for the fourth time on Saturday, August 8 with a battle of top-10 light heavyweights when fifth-ranked Glover Teixeira collides with former University of Tennessee football player, No. 6 Ovince Saint Preux. UFC FIGHT NIGHT®: TEIXEIRA vs. SAINT PREUX marks the promotion’s third trip to Nashville and first since January 2012. With new champion Daniel Cormier sitting atop the UFC® light heavyweight division, the stakes are high and both Teixeira (22-4, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Saint Preux (18-6, fighting out of Knoxville, Tenn.) are within striking distance of a shot at Cormier’s world title. Having trained under Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell, Teixeira is a double threat with striking and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The dynamic style and punching power of the ever improving Saint Preux makes him a threat wherever the fight goes. In addition, two of the lightweight division’s brightest young stars will clash in their effort to make a name for themselves in one of the most talent-rich weight classes. Fifth-ranked Michael Johnson (17-8, fighting out of Boca Raton, Fla.) looks for his fifth-straight win when he meets submission ace Beneil Dariush (11-1, fighting out of Yorba Linda, Calif.). The No. 14 lightweight is a world champion jiu-jitsu player and will look to counter Johnson’s devastating striking with his feared ground game. The event will also feature a showdown between two of the top female fighters in the world when No.

MMA is a sport where techniques such as punches, kicks, throws and joints are used to defeat the opponent in unarmed close combat. Standing techniques such as punches and kicks are of great importance in sports and coaches / athletes strive to develop efficient techniques. The study investigates how UFC athletes work with distance moves relative to each other in knockout or tech knockout matches, comparisons were also made between a heavier and an easier weight class to detect any differences in behavior. Data was collected through a match observation where a total of 50 matches from the MMA event were collected with reverse chronological order starting from fight night Johnson VS Reis. The results showed that there were differences between movement and non-occupation at KO / TKO, but also that they were not significant.

FS1 UFC TONIGHT Show Quotes and Videos – 4/26/17 CORMIER TO JONES: “TAKE THE FIGHT WITH ME, JON JONES. THERE’S NO TUNE-UP FIGHTS IN THE UFC.” Florian on GSP having the best championship run: “The welterweight division was considered the toughest division in the sport for years. Georges didn’t lose a round for four years.” Los Angeles – On UFC TONIGHT, hosts Kenny Florian and Daniel Cormier interview Jorge Masvidal about his upcoming UFC 211 bout. Plus, Karyn Bryant adds reports. UFC TONIGHT host Daniel Cormier on if Al Iaquinta deserved a performance bonus last Saturday: “He came back after two years off, and not only did he beat the legend, Diego Sanchez, he smashed him. Who puts Diego out like that? Was he mad he didn’t get the bonus? Of course. They should have given it to him.” UFC TONIGHT host Kenny Florian on if Jones should take a tune-up fight: “He did not look that good against Ovince Saint Preux after his last layoff. I think he should take a tune-up fight. He fights off of confidence and rhythm. He’s better off taking a tune-up fight. But the bigger question is who would he fight?” Cormier on if Jon Jones should take a tune-up fight before fighting him for the title: “Take the fight with me, Jon Jones. There’s no tune-up fights in the UFC. Try to get your title back. Come meet your boy DC. Get your money. Let’s give people the show. It’s my rules, I’m the champ now.
