British rockers Marillion, often overlooked in the U.S., will visit America for the first time in eight years when they play a handful of dates next summer. A two-night stint at Chicago’s Park West is booked for June 22- 23, with the band featuring different setlists each night. Classic Rock Magazine ranked Marillion as the 38th best live band of all time, so this may be a show you’ll want to attend as it’s a rare chance to catch a great act. Tickets go on sale November 4.

Although no specifics have been released, be on the lookout for Radiohead dates in 2012. A tour is being finalized that will hit “all of the usual ports,” according to a band spokesman. Most dates will be at indoor venues rather than outdoor sheds, and the setlist reportedly will delve deep into their back catalog of songs.

Former Commodores frontman and solo artist Lionel Richie is making a country album. The purveyor of cheesy love songs has recruited some of country’s biggest artists includ-

ing Martina McBride, Darius Rucker, Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw to sing countri-

fied duets of Richie’s most famous songs. Richie will debut at least one of his songs at the CMA awards show November 9.

In the week’s least shocking news, Psychopathic Records artists Blaze Ya Dead Homie and Madrox and Monoxide of Twiztid were recently arrested in Tampa for marijuana

possession. Apparently a person close to the band with a vendetta to settle with the rappers tipped police off about the location of the wacky weed, allowing authorities to swoop in for the arrests. No tour dates were missed as the musicians were out on bail the next morning.

Poison are being sued by members of an Illinois band called Kid Rocker, claiming Poison used several of Kid Rocker’s songs as the basis for Poison songs like “Fallen Angel,” “Talk Dirty to Me” and “I Won’t Forget You.” Apparently Poison guitarist CC Deville once tried out for Kid Rocker and obtained a tape of their songs at that point. Never mind the Poison songs in question were released 25 years ago and copyright infringement has a three-year statute of limitations; these guys want their 15 minutes of fame. Well they made it into Road Notez. Maybe that will satisfy them.

SHAKE YOUR FAITH Diamond Day Records Is Very Excited to Announce the Release of the Steepwater Band’S 6Th Full-Length Studio Album SHAKE YOUR FAITH

THE STEEPWATER BAND : SHAKE YOUR FAITH Diamond Day Records is very excited to announce the release of The Steepwater Band’s 6th full-length studio album SHAKE YOUR FAITH. The LP features 11 brand new TSB tracks, and is slated for release on Friday, April 1st via Double 180 Gram Vinyl, Compact Disc and Digital Download. The album was recorded last winter at Crushtone Studios, in the shadows of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, in Cleveland, Ohio. Shake Your Faith was produced by the band along with seasoned rock studio veteran Jim Wirt, who has also worked with the likes of Fiona Apple, Incubus and the Buffalo Killers. As with most TSB albums, the sound and songwriting on Shake Your Faith has grown and expanded, yet retained the true nature of the band. It’s the first TSB studio record in over 4 years and the first to include “new” guitarist Eric Saylors. "SHAKE YOUR FAITH is a stomping, seductive cry that real rock 'n' roll is alive and well in a band with the swagger, justified confidence, and badass tunes of a modern classic, a collection with all the heart and hips of 70s Stones and serious competition to contemporaries like The Black Keys, Ben Harper, and Jack White." - Dennis Cook {Dirty Impound} • Their song “Dance Me a Number” from Revelation Sunday receives nearly 10,000 spins on Pandora daily, on such channels as The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, White Stripes, Led Zeppelin, and more. • Their 2010 single The Stars Look Good Tonight reached # 109 on the Triple A radio charts and it was featured during the June 29, 2010, WGN-TV (nationally syndicated) broadcast of the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball game.
  • Handsome Jack :: Do What Comes Naturally Alive Natural Sound/Sonic

Handsome Jack :: Do What Comes Naturally Alive Natural Sound/Sonic

Handsome Jack :: Do What Comes Naturally Alive Natural Sound/Sonic Some people call it a vibe and some people call it a groove. We call it boogie soul. It’s the sound of HANDSOME JACK on their new album “Do What Comes Naturally”. Produced by Zachary Gabbard of the BUFFALO KILLERS and featuring Bob Nave (of the legendary Lemon Pipers) on hammond organ, among others, the music of this album seamlessly flows through deep dark mid-tempo boogies, smoky upbeat burners, and soulful feel-good rockers all with a natural ease. HANDSOME JACK hails from Buffalo NY and began as a blues garage rock band. After high school they moved out of the garage and developed their sound into a natural soulful boogie that remains rooted in raw blues. They’ve shared the stage with The Sheepdogs, Blue Cheer, Gov’t Mule, J. Geils, The Hold Steady, and Robert Randolph to name a few. Handsome Jack is a band to set your sights on and never look away this year. Fuzzy blues and boogie soul make up their new record Do What Comes Naturally. With its timeless sound, this record could easily have been plucked from a time capsule from 40-50 years ago. A little Lynyrd Skynyrd in the way it often just effortlessly feels like gritty Southern blues rock, this is seriously sexy music. The dark smokiness of “Creepin’” will stick with you, leaving you still swaying your hips long after it ends, and the laid-back saunter of “Dry Spell” beckons you for a ride in a dusty old hot rod.
