Circle Ten Council: Today’s Boy Scouts of America (BSA) programs are designed for both male and female youth. Since 1910, Scouting has helped mold the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The BSA believes and understands that helping youth puts us on a path towards a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society. The Circle Ten Council is a local council of Boy Scouts of America. It is comprised of 24 counties and serves 58,000 young people and more than 12,000 adult volunteers on an annual basis. About Summer Internship Program: The internship of the Circle Ten Council is divided into two parts; program application and program support/administration. Both parts take place over the course of 8 weeks. Program Support/Administration: May 18, 2020 – May 29, 2020 The first part of the internship, program support/administration, takes place over 2 weeks at the council’s office. During this time the intern will be exposed to how the Circle Ten Council operates administratively. This will include the following: Work with council staff, volunteers, community leaders, and business leaders to identify, recruit, train, guide, and inspire others, both individuals and organizations, to become involved with the Boy Scouts of America In collaboration with council staff and volunteers, understand and implement key fundraising strategies to secure the funding of the Circle Ten Council Apply learned skills on customer service, administration, and relationship building in order to further the goals of the Circle Ten Council. Program Application: May 31, 2020 – Jul 13, 2020 The second part of the internship, program application, takes place at one of Circle Ten Council’s iconic camps and lasts 6 weeks. The intern will experience implementation of the program of the BSA by being on summer camp staff at a council summer camp. During this time interns will provide leadership variety of different areas which may include the following: Aquatics (pool and waterfront) Shooting Sports (Archery, Rifle, and Shotgun) Climbing/Rappelling Ecology/Conservation Wrangler/Equestrian First Aid Handicraft Outdoor Skills ATV Director Advancement program of Scouts BSA (Trail to First Class) Field Sports Communications/Technology Trading Post/Sales Dining and Kitchen Management Facility Maintenance Office Management and Administration Required Intern Characteristics: Genuine desire to serve Disciplined self-motivation Ability to handle multiple tasks at once Meticulous attention to detail Consistent composure Desire to be the best Must be willing to be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America Willing to work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and ages (including youth) A knowledge of the Boy Scouts of America is NOT required We Offer Interns: $4,000 in direct compensation Lodging during internship Meals or per diem in lieu of meals 2 BSA uniforms Training in the programs of the Boy Scouts of America Self-learning and exploration through Gallup: Strengths Finder Experience in most or all aspects of the business of the BSA To apply for the intern program or ask a question about the intern program please contact Nathan Doherty ([email protected]).
