INTERNATIONAL MEDIA IMPACT FGV SOCIAL - INTERNATIONAL The scope of action of FGV Social goes beyond Brazilian territory. We constantly participate in lectures and seminars in several countries, in addition to meeting specific demands for research projects and analysis of public policies for governments, non-governmental organizations and multilateral organizations. We give lectures and keynote speeches in places like Princeton, Columbia, MIT, Harvard, Chicago, Brown, Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, PSE, OECD and Davos. Alongside traditional international organizations such as the UN and its agencies, the World Bank, among others, we seek to develop complementary works. We evaluated social projects in more than two dozen countries. One publication in this line is “Microcredit Diaries: assessing microcredit impacts on grassroots development in Peru, Nicaragua and Mexico”. Since 2006, international community has shown widespread interest in our researches. Issues such as poverty, inequality and associated policies are prominent from the outset. The creation of the World Without Poverty (WWP) knowledge hub and the award we received from the Global Development Network in 2005 for a model proposal linking local social policies to the Millennium Development Goals are fruits of this external demand. Our research on the rise of the new middle class has also gained significant importance, incorporating the demand of a more business- oriented audience. For example, we visited all BRICS countries in this process, as well as participating in OECD events and the World Economic Forum (WEF) to discuss this theme. In this process we have strengthen the presence of FGV in the international arena. This occurs most significantly through the dissemination of research aimed at the external public, including academics, opinion makers and policy makers. In these surveys, we provide additional, more qualified inputs, such as interactive English databases. However, our main goal is to reach the ordinary citizen from other parts of the globe, through the foreign media, our main channel of communication. Myriad stories have been published in major international publications: The Economist, The Financial Times, The NY Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Streeet Journal, BBC, CNN, El País, La Nacion, Le Monde, Le Figaro, among others. The advantage of this more horizontal diffusion strategy is that we reach at once all segments of the target audience in different countries. +1.136 INTERNATIONAL MEDIAS IMPACT ON MAIN JOURNALS AND INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINES 19 07 23 18 08 04 09 08 04 03 04 17 MEDIA IMPACT IN + 64 COUNTRIES MAP OF COUNTRIES IMPACT Countries Algeria Dominican Republic Jamaica Saudi Arabia Angola Ecuador Japan Scotland Argentina El Salvador Korea Singapore Australia England Lithuania South Africa Austria Finland Mexico Spain Belgium France Morocco Sweden Bolivia Germany Netherlands Switzerland Bulgaria Greece New Zealand Tanzania Canada Guatemala Norway Turkey United Arab Chile Honduras Oman Emirates China Hungary Paraguay United Kingdom Colombia India Peru United States Costa Rica Indonesia Portugal Uruguay Cuba Iran Puerto Rico Vatican Cyprus Ireland Qatar Venezuela Denmark Italy Russia Viet Nam INTERNATIONAL MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS 24h - Vietnã - Người dân Brazil sống khổ sở vì khủng hoảng kinh tế (Povo brasileiro vive crise econômica miserável) ABC News - Brazil Govt: Homicide Rate Dips After Gun Control AFP - Brésil: parce que les femmes noires de Rio le valent bien Agenda Vecinal - Brasil el lider munidal de la "Felicidad Futura" Aljazeera - Brazil looks to attract foreign workers BBC - Entrevista (Estúdio da BBC - Ao Vivo) BBC - Internacional – Entrevista / Olympics BBC Mundo - Crisis del euro: riesgo social para América Latina BBC World News TV BBC World News TV Bloomberg - The Rio de Janeiro Olympics Were Not a Disaster.
