    IX-th International Conference of Zoologists, 12-13 October 2016 227 TROPHICITY ASSESSMENT OF THE DNIESTER RIVER BASED ON MICROBIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS Igor Subernetkii, Maria Negru, Olga Jurminskaia Institute of Zoology, Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova email: [email protected] The study of the microbiological parameters of bacterioplankton in different types of aquatic ecosystems is one of the mail directions in the applied researches. Water samples were collected seasonally during 2015 at 11 stations of the Dniester River and Dubossary reservoir: Naslavcea, Valcinet, Soroca, Camenca (medial sector of the river - 12 samples), Erjovo, Goiani, Cocieri (Dubossary reservoir - 9 samples), Vadul lui Voda, Varnita, Suclea, Palanca (lower sector of the Dniester River - 12 samples). The trophic category of moni- tored ecosystems was appreciated based on such microbiological parameters as bacterial production and destruction, total number of bacteria, number of saprophytes and some physiological groups of micro organisms involved in cycles of nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon. Sampling and analysis of water samples was carried out by methods accepted in hydrobiology (Gak, 1975; Ambrazene, 1984; Kopylov and Kosolapov, 2008; Water Quality Monitoring and assessment of ecological status of aquatic ecosystems, 2015 etc.). The following results were obtained: - A large range of values has been revealed for such microbiological parameters as total number of bacteria (Ntot – from 0.6 to 8.0 million cells / ml) and number of saprophytes (Nsapr – from 0.1 to 62.0 thousand cells / ml). Under the investigated period, the highest values of these parameters were recorded for two stations of the Dniester River (Fig. 1): Fig.1.

Prior to the main mission, a reduced Congress Delegation visited Chisinau from 2 to 4 October to carry out a pre-electoral visit. The Delegation to observe the 20 October local elections was deployed from 17 to 21 October 2019 and involved 24 observers from 21 European countries. On the Election Day, the Delegation was divided into eleven teams, which visited some 200 polling stations across the country and observed the voting as well as the counting process. Technically, the elections were well prepared and administered by an overall experienced electoral staff at the level of the polling stations. The Congress welcomes some of the efforts made by the Moldovan authorities to improve the legal framework for elections, in particular amendments aiming at a better regulation of financing of political parties and regulation of campaign activities. However, the changes were introduced close to the Election Day and implemented in a very tight timeframe, increasing pressure on electoral bodies and generating uncertainty among candidates and citizens. Despite some positive changes, the Congress expresses its concern about the overly burdensome registration requirements for independent candidates compared to the candidates from political parties.

    CIVIC COALITION FOR FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS ± COALITION 2009 PROMO-LEX ASSOCIATION FINAL REPORT MONITORING EARLY PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS 29 JULY 2009 Monitored period: June 16 ± July 29, 2009 Released on 25 August 2009 1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Promo-LEX Association is a domestic nongovernmental, non-profit and non-partisan organization, which aims at the public benefit and operates in full accordance with the Moldovan law. The Promo-LEX election monitoring effort is aimed at checking the practices of holding elections in Moldova against the international election practices and standards, and the relevant Moldovan legislation. Promo-LEX team members are lawyers and attorneys in the field of human rights with national and international experience. Promo-LEX is a member of the Civic Coalition for Free and Fair Elections ¹Coalition 2009º ± a voluntary union of nongovernmental organizations, which implements projects aimed at improving the electoral process and enhancing the citizens' confidence in elections. The Promo-LEX Association monitored, in the period between 16 June and 29 July 2009, the early parliamentary elections of 29 July 2009 ± including the pre-electoral period, the legal framework and the Election Day ± in the Transnistrian region of Moldova and the neighboring rayons (territorial districts): Floresti, Rezina, Dubasari, Anenii Noi, Causeni, and Stefan Voda. The Promo-LEX monitoring effort deployed observers to 249 polling stations of the total of 1987 polling stations opened across the country. The monitored area is populated by approximately 530 thousand voters, which accounts for approximately 20 percent of the total number of voters in Moldova, and includes the Transnistrian region. The trends and patterns observed and the conclusions made by the Promo-LEX reflect the situation in the monitored area and may not be indicative of the entire country; however, Promo-LEX recommendations may be relevant for the electoral process at a national level.

    IX-th International Conference of Zoologists, 12-13 October 2016 207 SPECIES DIVERSITY OF THE DNIESTER RIVER ZOOPLANkTON COMMUNITIES IN 2013 – 2015 Olga Jurminskaia, Liubovi Lebedenco, Igor Subernetkii Institute of Zoology, Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova [email protected] The aim of the work was to study the species diversity of zooplankton in the dif- ferent sectors of the Dniester River within the boundaries of the Republic of Moldova. Sampling of zooplankton was carried out in the littoral zone of the river at a depth of 1.0 – 1.5 m. A total of 99 quantitative zooplankton samples were collected seasonally during 2013 - 2015 by filtering 100 liters of water through a plankton net (mesh size 55 μm) at 11 stations of the Dniester River and Dubossary reservoir: Naslavcea, Valcinet, Soroca, Camenca (Dniester River, medial sector), Erjovo, Goiani, Cocieri (Dubossa- ry reservoir), Vadul lui Voda, Varnita, Suclea, Palanca (lower sector of the Dniester River). The main taxonomic groups of zooplankton (Rotatoria, Copepoda, Cladocera) have been identified according to Kutikova (1970), Kutikova & Starobogatov (1977), Negrea (1983), Naberejnyi (1984), Tsalolihin (1994) and Alekseev (1995) with using a stereo zoom Discovery V8 ZEISS and a microscope Micmed-2 LOMO. Species diversity (SD) is one of the most important characteristics of biotic com- munities that reflect the complexity of its specific structure. Presently more than 30 different indices are proposed for evaluation of various aspects of diversity. The sim- plest indicator of α-diversity (species richness) is the total number of taxa (W), but its value depends on the sample size and number of samples.
