New Audi A4 DTM Debuts with Best Time Hockenheim, 15 April 2005 Motorsport New Audi A4 DTM debuts with best time • Tom Kristensen quickest at Hockenheim • Christian Abt best driver of a car from last year • Saturday qualifying “live” on ARD Successful start for the new Audi A4 DTM in the DTM season opener at AUDI AG Kommunikation Hockenheim: the Dane Tom Kristensen drove the fastest time by far during the two 85045 Ingolstadt www.audi.com official tests on Friday. The fact that the DTM 2004 champions’ car is still competitive was proved by Christian Abt, who clocked the sixth best time of the day. All Audi drivers completed different test programmes on Friday in order to collect as much data as possible. The qualifying practice on Saturday will start at 1.30 p.m., the super pole at 2.25 p.m. ARD will broadcast live from Hockenheim starting at 2 p.m. Quotes after Friday’s tests Tom Kristensen (Audi Sport Team Abt #5) 3rd place / 1st place, 1m 34.949s “That our A4 is a good car we already knew before. Now, we have to adapt it to the Hockenheim circuit. We’ve tried out a lot of different things and are obviously on the right track. I’m now looking forward to working out our further programme together with my engineer for tomorrow. My best time today has been a good sign already.” Mattias Ekström (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline #1) 8th place / 4th place, 1m 35.578s “Today has been the first day with our new Audi A4 at Hockenheim. Of course we tested prior to the season – but now it’s about making our car really quick on the respective DTM circuits as well. The beginning this morning tended to be fair to middling, but in the afternoon we achieved decent results.” 1/3 Christian Abt (Audi Sport Team Joest Racing #14) 4th place / 6th place, 1m 35.776s “I’m very satisfied. We’re part of the front of the field and have sorted everything out already – that’s not always the case at this point in time. So far, everything’s been working perfectly. Now, I’m hoping that everything will be going equally well for us tomorrow.” Frank Stippler (Audi Sport Team Joest Racing #19) 10th place / 18th place, 1m 36.318s “For me, today’s been the usual process of learning. Because I’ve got relatively AUDI AG little DTM experience, things need to sort themselves out first. Some steps went in Kommunikation 85045 Ingolstadt the right direction, others didn’t. At the moment, I can’t really judge where I’m www.audi.com standing.” Rinaldo Capello (Audi Sport Team Joest Racing #18) 20th place / 13th place, 1m 36.404s “I’m very happy. After I hadn’t been able to drive a lot in the morning due to a problem with the brakes, things went really well in the afternoon. I covered one of the long runs with tyres which had more than a whole racing distance under their belt already. Nevertheless, my lap times were consistently fast.” Martin Tomczyk (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline #2) 6th place / 14th place, 1m 36.422s “It’s great that the season is starting again – finally. Of course I’d wished for a better start, but at least we got a lot of data from it. Now, we’re going to evaluate this data and then try to implement it.” Pierre Kaffer (Audi Sport Team Joest Racing #15) 14th place / 19th place, 1m 36.738s “I’ve got a good feeling. I know I can drive quite a bit faster. I completely fluffed the lap with the last set of tyres, but my long run was really good. That’s why I’m very optimistic for tomorrow.” Allan McNish (Audi Sport Team Abt #6) 16th place / 20th place, 1m 36.918s “As early as after my first two test sessions, I realise: life in the DTM will be pretty tough. The balance of my A4 was not perfect today but that’s something we’ll get 2/3 right. In any event, the spectators can look forward to a great race because there are lots of overtaking opportunities here at Hockenheim.” Hans-Jürgen Abt (Team Director Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline): “I think that our first performance with the new Audi A4 DTM has been quite acceptable. At the beginning, we were a bit unsure, but in the meantime we’ve sorted ourselves out relatively well. We’re going to continue to work and hope that we’ll be right on target in Saturday’s qualifying.” Ralf Jüttner (Technical Director Audi Sport Team Joest): “At the moment, AUDI AG things are looking rather well for our used cars. Dindo and Pierre lost a relatively Kommunikation 85045 Ingolstadt large amount of time due to a few minor problems, which we’ve been able to sort www.audi.com out. Still, they were quite quick on the track. So was Frank, who was beaten in the second test below his true potential. And Christian seems to feel particularly comfortable with us. He’s really in a super mood.” Dr Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Motorsport): “The best time is good for the whole Audi squad, but it’s not all that important. The crucial factor is that after today’s two test sessions we understand even better how the new car responds to changes. After the first test, we developed an individual working programme for the four new cars, which we pursued in a different direction with each of them in the afternoon. Now, we’re going to merge all this data to make the best of it in the qualifying session. I think we’ve sorted out everything relatively well.” Communication Motorsport Telephone +49 (0)841 89 34200, fax +49 (0)841 89 38617 E-Mail [email protected] Photographs and additional information available on the Internet: www.audi-motorsport.info (Accreditation necessary) 3/3 .

Porsche at Le Mans Meet the Heroes of Le Mans • Porsche and the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1 Porsche and the 24 Hours of Le Mans Porsche in the starting line-up for 63 years The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most famous endurance race in the world. The post-war story of the 24 Heures du Mans begins in the year 1949. And already in 1951 – the pro - duction of the first sports cars in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen commenced in March the previous year – a small delegation from Porsche KG tackles the high-speed circuit 200 kilometres west of Paris in the Sarthe department. Class victory right at the outset for the 356 SL Aluminium Coupé marks the beginning of one of the most illustrious legends in motor racing: Porsche and Le Mans. Race cars from Porsche have contested Le Mans every year since 1951. The reward for this incredible stamina (Porsche is the only marque to have competed for 63 years without a break) is a raft of records, including 16 overall wins and 102 class victories to 2013. The sporting competition and success at the top echelon of racing in one of the world’s most famous arenas is as much a part of Porsche as the number combination 911. After a number of class wins in the early fifties with the 550, the first time on the podium in the overall classification came in 1958 with the 718 RSK clinching third place.

Ingolstadt, 19 March 2006 Motorsport / 21 days until the start of the 2006 DTM From the Audi R10 TDI straight into the A4 DTM • Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen swaps in no time at all Spending a lot of time with the family or pursuing hobbies such as cycling and jet skiing at home in Hobro, Denmark, are unlikely propositions for Tom Kristensen AUDI AG this year. In the 2006 season, the 38-year-old Audi factory driver is shouldering as Kommunikation 85045 Ingolstadt many as two racing commitments: In the Audi A4 DTM, he contests Europe’s www.audi.com most popular touring car series which is scheduled to start at Hockenheim on April 9th and, in addition, he is part of Audi’s ambitious diesel project in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The differences between these two racing disciplines notwithstanding, there is one thing they have in common: Tom Kristensen is considered one of the hot favourites in both. As many as seven times Kristensen has won the world’s most famous endurance race in France, now being the record holder. After his victory in the Audi R10 TDI at Sebring (Florida) this weekend, the new diesel sportscar’s debut, the Dane will be flying on Sunday night directly from Miami to London, where the official DTM tests at Brands Hatch are scheduled to start on Monday. There, Kristensen will be taking the wheel of his new Audi A4 DTM – bearing the internal designation “R12 plus” – for the first time. Yet the record holder has no problem switching from the 650-hp open-air sports prototype to the DTM touring car in which he claimed third place in the Championship last year: “No matter whether I climb into the R10 TDI or the A4 DTM – I always immediately feel that I’m sitting in an Audi.” Tomorrow: Tests in the DTM – every day counts Communication Motorsport Telephone +49 (0)841 89 34200, fax +49 (0)841 89 38617 E-Mail [email protected] Photographs, sound bites and additional information on the Internet: www.audi-motorsport.info (Accreditation necessary) 1/1 .

  • Audi Drivers Especially Motivated for Zandvoort
Ingolstadt, 19 August 2005 Motorsport Audi drivers especially motivated for Zandvoort • DTM race at the Dutch North Sea coastal town • Last year’s winner Ekström arrives as championship leader • Zandvoort is Christian Abt’s favourite circuit Audi factory driver Mattias Ekström reclaimed the DTM championship lead with a AUDI AG Kommunikation win at the Nürburgring. The Swede from Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline wants to 85045 Ingolstadt www.audi.com increase his lead at Zandvoort. The signs for this are good: The demanding circuit on the Dutch North Sea coast really suited the Audi A4 DTM last season, and the young 27-year-old Swede’s run of success on the circuit through the dunes is impressive: At Zandvoort, Ekström finished on the podium three times in succession, twice (2002 and 2004) on his favourite place – the very top step. Two of his team-mates also have good memories of the circuit lying almost 30 kilometres west of Amsterdam: Finishing second last year, Martin Tomczyk earned Audi a one-two victory. Tom Kristensen shone on his Zandvoort début by immediately setting the fastest time of the day. For Allan McNish, who competed in and won the 1000-kilometre race at Silverstone in an Audi R8 between the two DTM races at the Nürburgring and Zandvoort, the current circuit layout in Zandvoort is, in contrast, new territory. At Audi Sport Team Joest, Christian Abt in particular is looking forward to the “away” race in the Netherlands: The man form Bavaria, currently the highest scoring German DTM driver, loves the course like no other, taking his only pole position in the DTM there in 2001 before narrowly missing victory in a photo finish after an unforgettable duel with Uwe Alzen.

  • Audi Wants to Defend Lead in the DTM
Ingolstadt, 17 June 2005 Motorsport Audi wants to defend lead in the DTM • Mattias Ekström comes to Oschersleben as the leader • “Home race” for last year’s winner Tom Kristensen • 2004-spec A4 DTM drivers want to score further points Same procedure as last year? Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich AUDI AG Kommunikation wouldn’t mind that at all: last year, Tom Kristensen and Martin Tomczyk clinched 85045 Ingolstadt www.audi.com a double victory for Audi at the Motopark Oschersleben – the first of three consecutive one-two wins that paved the way for Audi’s title win in Europe’s most popular touring car series. After the double victory at Brno, Audi is this time returning to the ‘Motopark’ as the leader of the standings– to contest an event which last year’s victor, Tom Kristensen, regards as his “home race” because Oschersleben is the DTM venue that is closest to his home, Denmark. The Le Mans record winner is ranked in third place of the standings, only five points behind the leader, Mattias Ekström, and two behind Gary Paffett. The 3.667-kilometre circuit at Oschersleben suited the A4 DTM particularly well last year. However, after the double victory at Brno, the four new Audi A4 DTM cars entered by Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline are required to start with ten kilograms of additional ballast. This rule does not apply to the four 2004-spec A4 cars entered by Audi Sport Team Joest. Hence, Rinaldo Capello has a good chance of clinching his first DTM points as well – should this occur, all eight Audi drivers will have points.
