Isaiah 40: 29-31 (KJV) 3 Key memorable moments on SWC track championship meet timeline 1936: SWC didn’t officially form until the 1937-38 school year, but the Berea Red Jackets (coached by Art Bridenbaugh), Oberlin Indians (coach Warren Ott) and Rocky River Pirates (coach Floyd Beam) met for the inaugural SWC track meet. 1939: Fairview Warriors join SWC 1945: Clearview Clippers and Wellington Dukes join SWC 1947: Amherst Comets, Medina Bees and North Olmsted Eagles join SWC 1950: Berea Red Jackets leave SWC for Greater Cleveland Conference 1954: Amherst Comets, Clearview Clippers and Wellington Dukes leave SWC for newly-formed Lakeland Conference (1955-86) 1955: Bay Rockets, North Olmsted Eagles and Olmsted Falls Bulldogs join SWC 1957: Westlake Demons join SWC 1964: Oberlin Indians leave SWC for Lakeland Conference 1965: Avon Lake Shoremen leave Lakeland Conference and join SWC 1967: Westlake installs SWC’s first all-weather track 1968: Heavy rains stretch SWC meet at Westlake from 2-day to 3-day meet 1986: Medina leaves SWC for Pioneer Conference (1978-2005) 1987: Amherst Comets leave Lakeland Conference when it disbands and rejoin the SWC 1999: Fully-automatic timing or FAT used for the first time for SWC championships 2001: Amherst’s Dominic Pellittieri sets Division I state record for boys pole vault (16-0.25) 2005: Bay Rockets, Fairview Warriors and Rocky River Pirates leave SWC for newly-formed West Shore Conference. Berea Braves (formerly nicknamed Red Jackets) rejoin SWC, Brecksville Bees and Midpark Meteors also join the SWC 2012: Berea’s Donovan Robertson breaks 59-year-old conference record for most individual career wins as he finishes with 13, breaking the old mark of 11 held by Oberlin’s Bob Bryant (1950-53) 2014: Berea Braves and Midpark Meteors programs merge when Midpark High closes, becoming Berea-Midpark Titans 2015: Brecksville Bees leave SWC for Suburban League. Avon Eagles, Lakewood Rangers, Midview Middies and North Ridgeville Rangers all leave disbanded West Shore Conference (2005-15) and join the SWC 2021: North Olmsted Eagles, Westlake Demons leave SWC for Great Lakes Conference.
