The service frequency will be increased to operate every 20 minutes between 1000 and 1700. Service(s) 8 Route Pudsey | Horsforth | Cross Gates | Halton Operator Connexionsbuses Date Monday 28 April 2014 Details Together with service 8A, a revised timetable will be introduced on this service to improve reliability and punctuality. The 0745 journey from Horsforth will now operate on service 8A, continuing to Thorpe Park upon request to the driver. On Fridays the 1412 journey from Horsforth will now terminate at Colton. The 0907 from Halton will now start from Colton at 0917 and on Mondays to Thursdays an additional journey will operate at 1507 from Templegate to Horsforth,. Service(s) 8A Route Pudsey | Horsforth | Cross Gates | Thorpe Park Operator Connexionsbuses Date Monday 07 April 2014 Details Together with service 8, a revised timetable will be introduced on this service to improve reliability and punctuality. A new journey at 0745 from Horsforth will now operate continuing to Thorpe Park upon request to the driver. On Fridays, the 1412 journey from Horsforth will now terminate at Colton and the 1505 journey from Thorpe Park will now operate as new service 8B. 2 3 Service(s) 8B [New Service] Route Thorpe Park | Colton | Cross Gates | Pudsey Operator Connexionsbuses Date Monday 07 April 2014 Details This is a new Monday to Friday journey operating at 1515 from Thorpe Park to Pudsey, replacing a journey on service 8A at 1505. Between Thorpe Park and Colton the service operates the route of service 8A. From Colton to Pudsey it then follows the route of service 8 serving Kingswear Crescent and Austhorpe Road. Service(s) 9 Route Horsforth | Pudsey | White Rose | Seacroft Operator First Date Sunday 27 April 2014 Details A revised route and timetable will be introduced on this service to improve reliability and punctuality. The service will no longer operate through Colton Village but via Selby Road. Service(s) 10 Route Leeds | Temple Newsam Operator First Date Monday 07 April 2014 Details The summer timetable has been introduced on this service operating as follows; • Monday 07 until Friday 18 April 2014. • Monday 26 until Friday 30 May 2014. • Monday 21 July until Friday 29 August 2014. • Monday 27 until Friday 31 October 2014. Service 16 will operate 2 journeys each hour, with service 16A remaining at 1 journey each hour. Service(s) 28A Route Halifax | Thrum Hall | Highroad Well Operator Yorkshire Tiger Date Sunday 27 April 2014 Details A new timetable will be introduced on this service to improve reliability and punctuality. Additional early and late journeys are introduced on Mondays to Saturdays. Service(s) 33, 33A [Green Line] Route Leeds | Horsforth | Guiseley | Menston | Otley Operator First Date Sunday 27 April 2014 Details A revised daily timetable will be introduced on these services to improve reliability and punctuality. Some journeys previously operating between Leeds and Yeadon as service 33A will be replaced by journeys on service 33 between Leeds and Horsforth only. New service X33 will operate between Leeds, Yeadon and Guiseley. 4 5 Service(s) 34 Route Halifax | Boothtown | Claremount Operator Yorkshire Tiger Date Sunday 27 April 2014 Details A revised timetable will be introduced on this service to improve reliability and punctuality. Additional early and late journeys are being introduced on Mondays to Saturdays. Service(s) 36 Route Halifax | Pellon | Rye Lane Operator Yorkshire Tiger Date Sunday 27 April 2014 Details A revised timetable will be introduced on this service to improve reliability and punctuality. Additional early and late journeys are being introduced on Mondays to Saturdays. The service will also have a reduced wait in Halifax Bus Station allowing faster journeys between Halifax and Rye Lane. Journeys between Albert Road - Bus Depot and Halifax will be withdrawn. Service(s) 36 [The 36] Route Leeds | Harewood | Harrogate | Ripley | Ripon Operator Transdev in Harrogate Date Sunday 27 April 2014 Details There is a change to the limited stop conditions on this service. In Chapel Allerton, the Yorkshire Bank stop will now be the first drop-off point on journeys from Leeds and the last pick-up point on journeys towards Leeds. There are no changes to times. Service(s) 42 Route Old Farnley | Leeds | Oakwood | Fearnville Operator First Date Sunday 30 March 2014 Details Services towards Old Farnley now stop at The Headrow bus stop H5 instead of Eastgate. This is due to the forthcoming Victoria Gate development. 6 7 Service(s) 46, 46A Route Barnsley | Cudworth | Shafton | South Hiendley Operator Red Line Buses Date Monday 28 April 2014 Details A revised timetable will be introduced on these services with journeys operating, on Schooldays only, at 0805 from South Heindley to Barnsley and 1500 from Shafton to Barnsley. A journey will also operate at 1546 from Barnsley to South Heindley. Service(s) 48, 48A Route Barnsley | Cudworth | Shafton | Hemsworth Operator Red Line Buses Date Monday 28 April 2014 Details A revised route and timetable will be introduced on these services, which will now operate from Hemsworth Bus Station to Barnsley via Grimethorpe, Shafton Cross Roads and Cudworth. A new journey at 0800 will operate from Hemsworth to Barnsley on service 48 while additional journeys will operate wholly within South Yorkshire between Brierley and Barnsley. Service(s) 51, 52 [Magenta Line] Route Moor Allerton | Leeds | Churwell | Morley Operator First Date Sunday 27 April 2014 Details A revised timetable will be introduced on these services to improve reliability and punctuality. Service(s) 56 [Turquoise Line] Route Whinmoor | Cross Gates | Leeds | Moor Grange Operator First Date Sunday 30 March 2014 Details For journeys towards Moor Grange the Leeds City Centre timing point and main stop is now The Headrow bus stop H5 instead of Eastgate. There may be additional delays caused by heavy traffic and residual congestion in the areas where the race is taking place. Saturday 21 September Route: Beverley, Market Weighton, Riccall, Cawood, Tadcaster, Wetherby, Knaresborough, Ripley, Harrogate Arriva Yorkshire 42 Delays likely between 1100 and 1400 due to road closures around Cawood. 415 Major delays likely between 1100 and 1400 due to road closures around Riccall. Coastliner 840/843 Between 0800 and 1800, buses will not be able to call at stops along York Road or the bus station. Between 1100 and 1430, some buses may not call at Tadcaster at all. Connexions X1 Between 1000 and 1700, buses will divert via Forest Head, Calcutt and Windsor Drive to Aspin. No service to Knaresborough town centre or St James Retail Park at these times.     2021 Book News Welcome to our 2021 Book News. As we come towards the end of a very strange year we hope that you’ve managed to get this far relatively unscathed. It’s been a very challenging time for us all and we’re just relieved that, so far, we’re mostly all in one piece. While we were closed over lockdown, Mark took on the challenge of digitalising some of Venture’s back catalogue producing over 20 downloadable books of some of our most popular titles. Thanks to the kind donations of our customers we managed to raise over £3000 for The Christie which was then matched pound for pound by a very good friend taking the total to almost £7000. There is still time to donate and download these books, just click on the downloads page on our website for the full list. We’re still operating with reduced numbers in the building at any one time. We’ve re-organised our schedules for packers and office staff to enable us to get orders out as fast as we can, but we’re also relying on carriers and suppliers. Many of the publishers whose titles we stock are small societies or one-man operations so please be aware of the longer lead times when placing orders for Christmas presents. The last posting dates for Christmas are listed on page 63 along with all the updates in light of the current Covid situation and also the impending Brexit deadline. In particular, please note the change to our order and payment processing which was introduced on 1st July 2020.

    2020 Book News Welcome to our 2020 Book News. It’s hard to believe another year has gone by already and what a challenging year it’s been on many fronts. We finally got the Hallmark book launched at Showbus. The Red & White volume is now out on final proof and we hope to have copies available in time for Santa to drop under your tree this Christmas. Sorry this has taken so long but there have been many hurdles to overcome and it’s been a much bigger project than we had anticipated. Several other long term projects that have been stuck behind Red & White are now close to release and you’ll see details of these on the next couple of pages. Whilst mentioning bigger projects and hurdles to overcome, thank you to everyone who has supported my latest charity fund raiser in aid of the Christie Hospital. The Walk for Life challenge saw me trekking across Greater Manchester to 11 cricket grounds, covering over 160 miles in all weathers, and has so far raised almost £6,000 for the Christie. When passenger transport operations become more removed from the communities they serve and more impersonal, for example inter-town services, alternative means of attracting custom become necessary. This is where marketing and branding begin.
