A2012 yılında Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi Halkla İlişkiler ve Reklamcılık Bölümü'nde lisans eğitimini tamamladı. 2016 yılında İnönü Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü İletişim Bilimleri Anabilim Dalı'ndan yüksek lisans derecesini aldı. 2016 yılından beri Erciyes Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü İletişim Bilimleri Anabilim Dalı'nda doktora eğitimini sürdürmektedir. 2015 yılından itibaren de İnönü Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü'nde araştırma görevlisi olarak çalışmaktadır. Propaganda, reklam, halkla ilişkiler ve sosyal medya alanlarında çalışmalar yürütmektedir. Nazi Almanya’sı, Sovyetler Birliği ve Çin Halk Cumhuriyeti başta olmak üzere farklı dönem ve ülkelerin propaganda faaliyetleri üzerine incelemelerini sürdürmektedir. Yüksek lisans yaparken 2018- 2019 öğretim yılı boyunca Proje Tabanlı Mevlana Değişim Programı kapsamında Kiev Taras Şevçenko Milli Üniversitesi’nde (Ukrayna) lisans ve yüksek lisans seviyesinde dersler almıştır.     Gender and the Genocide in Rwanda This book examines the mobilization, role, and trajectory of women rescuers and perpetrators during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. While much has been written about the victimization of women during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, very little has been said about women who rescued targeted victims or perpetrated crimes against humanity. This book explores and analyzes the role played by women who exercised agency as rescuers and as per- petrators during the genocide in Rwanda. As women, they took actions and deci- sions within the context of a deeply entrenched patriarchal system that limited their choices. This work examines two diverging paths of women’s agency during this period: to rescue from genocide or to perpetrate genocide. It seeks to answer three questions: First, how were certain Rwandan women mobilized to parti- cipate in genocide, and by whom? Second, what were the specific actions of women during this period of violence and upheaval? Finally, what were the tra- jectories of women rescuers and perpetrators after the genocide? Comparing and contrasting how women rescuers and perpetrators were mobilized, the actions they undertook, and their post- genocide trajectories, and concluding with a broader discussion of the long- term impact of ignoring these women, this book develops a more nuanced and holistic view of women’s agency and the genocide in Rwanda. This book will be of interest to students of gender studies, genocide studies, African politics and critical security studies. Sara E. YUHI VI BUSHAYIJA King of Rwanda I was born into a branch of the ruling dynasty of the Kingdom of Rwanda as it entered its final phase as the active central component of the country's political and cultural life, during the reign of my late uncle, King Kigeli V Ndahindurwa. The king of Rwanda, called Umwami in our Kinyarwanda language, has always been considered the “father of the nation,” and is seen as the universal patriarch of the countless family groups that constitute the vital human fabric of our country. Through decades of foreign intervention and encroachment, the institution of the monarchy withstood the test of time, and was seen as the central pillar of the Rwandan state. Under the wise rule of my grandfather, Yuhi V Musinga, as well during that of my uncles Mutara III Rudahigwa and Kigeli V Ndahindurwa, the nation was able to preserve its cultural heritage and internal autonomy, all the while moving haltingly toward full independence and eventual self- determination. The monarchy, and the monarch in particular, have always acted as guarantors of stability and continuity across the land, despite the turmoil that engulfed other surrounding nations as the moral, social, and political depredations of colonialism left waves of conflict and bloodshed in their wake.
