Solo Chargeback Procedures

Further information regarding Solo chargeback procedures prior to and following the closure of the Solo scheme are provided below.

Up to and including the public notification date of the closure of the Solo Scheme on 31 March 2011, chargebacks will be treated as at present (manually, in accordance with the Solo Rules and settled as at present).

©2011 MasterCard Production Review—Due From 1 April 2011, all Solo chargebacks will also be handled manually as at present; however, the existing Solo Rules for chargebacks (Section 11.1 of those rules only) will remain available for a period of 120 days, after which they will be discontinued. All chargeback reason codes will be retained for this period.

NOTE All other Solo rules will be discontinued as of 31 March 2011.

Other BINs in the Range “6767xx”

All BINs in the range “6767” will cease to be available for Solo transaction processing after 31 March 2011.

However, there are two BINs in the 6767xx range that have been issued for UK Maestro prepaid cards. These BINS are: • 676770 – Issued for Clydesdale Bank • 676774 – Issued for Clydesdale Bank

Acquirers must ensure that their merchants do not delete these BINs from merchant terminals after 31 March 2011 but continue to process these as UK Domestic Maestro (UKDM) transactions until Maestro Alignment (13 May 2011) and thereafter to process these under the post-alignment standard UK Maestro rules.

Rule Amendments – Only for Solo Cards The following section will be retained in the Solo Rules (June 2007) after 31 March 2011 for 120 days.

Solo Rules Chapter 11—Exception Item Processing 11.1—Overview Please refer to the Maestro Global Rules document, UK chapter 19A, Section 11, for the rules and procedures for processing exception items, such as chargebacks. Any differences applicable to processing Solo chargebacks are included at this location.
