Welcome to Georgia! Today we arrive into the capital city of Tbilisi, a cobblestoned old town with diverse architecture reflecting a long and complicated history. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, take the evening to enjoy a lovely dinner at the hotel and prepare for our amazing adventure both in Georgia and Turkey.

Today we will partake on a full day guided tour of colourful Tbilisi. We’ll begin by wandering through the narrow streets of the old districts of the city, beautifully structured like terraces. Here we’ll enjoy colourful houses, patterned balconies and wonderful samples of modern architecture. Our first stop will be a visit to the 13th century church, resting on the top of a hill on the river bank, facing back towards the magnificent views over old Tbilisi. From here we will travel a little higher to enjoy some breathtaking panoramic views from the ancient 4th century Narikala fortress. This magnificent fortress sits high on a steep hill overlooking the entire city. Here we will find ourselves in the historical domed Sulphur bath area, one of the most iconic sights of Tbilisi.

Afterwards, we’ll continue on to visit the ancient capital and religious center of Georgia – Mtskheta and see its historical landmarks: 6th century and the impressive , where the Robe of Christi is buried. Both Jvari and Svetitskhoveli are UNESCO World Heritage sites.

After all the sightseeing of the day, our tour leader will take us out for a scrumptious welcome dinner. There will be a Georgian dance performance during the dinner as well!

Following breakfast this morning, we’ll take a drive up the famous Georgian Military Highway, leading to the Georgian- Russian border and following the traditional route used by invaders and traders throughout the ages. Along the way, we’ll visit a 17th century Neuroarchitecture complex. Consisting of two churches and a fortress, this stunning site overlooks the brilliant blue Zhinvali water reservoir, home to one of the largest hydroelectric power stations in Georgia. The carvings on the churches are one of the best samples of the Georgian art.

Following our visit here, we will continue on our highway drive north towards the Russian border, taking in the beautiful scenery through the high Caucasus Mountains. When we arrive in Stepantsminda, the main town in the region, we’ll enjoy lunch with a local family, indulging in some delicious homemade dishes. From Stepantsminda we’ll take 4WD vehicles up through lush valleys and woodland towards located at 2170m. Weather permitting we may catch a glimpse of one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – Mt Kazbegi at 5047m.

After we soak up some awe-inspiring vistas here, we’ll return to the town and begin our drive back to Tbilisi.

Today we will be driving to Gori, a city in eastern Georgia whose name is from the Georgian ‘gora’, which translates to "heap" or "hill". Gori was an important military stronghold in the Middle Ages. Here we will visit Stalin Museum, dedicated to the life of Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union, who was born in Gori. Next we’ll explore Uplistsikhe Cave Town, an ancient rock-hewn town near Gori originating in the 1st millennium BC. Uplistsikhe is the place where the Great Silk Road used to pass. This is an old and interesting complex with dwelling quarters, wine-cellars, bakeries, a three-nave basilica church cut from the rock and even an antic theatre.

After our tour here we will continue our drive west towards Kutaisi, the third largest city in Georgia. Upon arrival here, the rest of the day is yours to spend at your leisure.

In the morning after breakfast we will enjoy a lovely city tour of Kutaisi with our guide. We will begin at the 11th century Bagrati Cathedral, which ranks among the best monuments of Georgian architecture. We’ll follow this with a visit to the beautiful and Academy, which together with the Bagrati Cathedral were made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1994.

Afterwards we’ll depart Kutaisi and drive to the Black Sea coast to Batumi, Georgia’s summer holiday capital. This wonderful city has sprouted new hotels and attractions like mushrooms in recent years, but it still has much of its charm. Upon arrival, take a stroll along Batum Boulevard, taking in its trees, pathways, fountains, cafes, beach bars and quirky attractions. This is the life and soul of Batumi.

This morning our guide will take us for a walking tour of beautiful Batumi! During the city tour we’ll visit Batumi cathedral, the Church of the Mother of God, built in Neo-Gothic style. Next we’ll tour Europe Square, a must-see historic part of Batumi adorned with an intriguing Astronomical Clock Tower, which measures not just the time, but the position of the sun, the moon and the planets. Europe Square is also home to the iconic Medea Statue, a monument featuring Medea from Greek Mythology, who was a daughter of Aeetes, King of the legendary kingdom of Colchis (present day western Georgia). We’ll also visit Piazza Square, one of the most beautiful squares in the whole of Georgia. Distinguished by its painting, as well as by its exquisite mosaics and stained-glass windows, Piazza Square has already become the venue of numerous entertaining and cultural events. After our city tour, we’ll head to the dazzling Botanical Gardens and have a visit there.

Following a guided tour of the gardens, you’ll have free time to either continue exploring or to relax back at the hotel.

After breakfast this morning we will head to Sarpi, which lies on the border of Georgia and Turkey. Here we say farewell to beautiful Georgia and our Georgian guide as we make our way into Turkey. On the other side of the border, our Turkish tour leader will be waiting for us to welcome us and assist in beginning the Turkey part of our adventure! Please note that during our border crossing, everyone will be responsible for carrying their own luggage and belongings. Once we arrive on the Turkey side, we will begin our drive to the pearl of Black Sea Coast – Trabzon. The city of Trabzon is famous for its amazing cuisine, passionate people and its football club!

After checking in at the hotel, our guide will run a quick welcome meeting before taking us out for a lovely local dinner.

We will hit the roads of Trabzon this morning, beginning with a guided visit to the incredible Sumela Monastery. Nestled in a steep cliff at an altitude of about 1,200 metres, the monastery faces the scenic valley below and is a site of great historical and cultural significance. Next, we will check out the beautifully landscaped Mansion of Ataturk in Trabzon. Ataturk was the founder of modern Turkey and he had a mansion here in Trabzon.

After touring this jaw-dropping historical residence, our last stop will be Hagia Sophia Museum of Trabzon, from the Christianity Era. Your lunch will be served at a local ‘pide’ place which is a Turkish type of pizza! Following our guided tours, the rest of the day will be yours to spend at your leisure.

Today we will be leaving gorgeous Trabzon behind us as we drive inland, down towards the 2nd largest city in Turkey and the country’s capital – Ankara. Ataturk established the first modern parliament here in the heart of the country in 1919. Upon arrival, our guide will take us to a local restaurant to try the famous ‘döner kebap’ in Ankara. Next, we will visit the biggest and probably the most impressive museum of Turkey – the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. Here we’ll take a guided tour through its historical buildings and learn about its deeply rooted history.

Our last stop for today will be the exquisite Ankara Castle, an ancient Citadel and fortification from the early medieval era. Here we will witness the well preserved quarter of thick walls and intriguing winding streets from the 9th Century.

After breakfast this morning we’ll be leaving the capital to drive down to the land of beautiful horses – Cappadocia, a semi-arid region in central Turkey known for its distinctive “fairy chimneys,” tall, cone-shaped rock formations. We’ll stop for a delicious local lunch on the way before arriving at Derinkuyu Underground city to check out the amazing work of early Christians. There are 36 underground cities in Cappadocia and the deepest one is in Derinkuyu. This ancient multi- level underground city extends to a depth of approximately 60 metres and is large enough to have sheltered as many as 20,000 people together with their livestock and food stores.

Following a tour here, we will continue to our hotel. After a short break, we will head out to the biggest underground cellar of the country to join in an exciting local wine tasting session.

Today you’ll have the once-in-a-lifetime otherworldly opportunity to join the Cappadocia Hot Air Ballooning. This is an experience like no other - ethereal, romantic and dreamy. Please contact your Turkish tour leader on arrival to Turkey in Trabzon to book a slot there! After breakfast this morning, we’ll set out on a guided tour of Cappadocia, beginning at the Esentepe Panoramic Spot. This picturesque viewpoint offers unbelievable vistas over Cappadocia and the amazing surrounding landscape. From here we will continue on to the incredible open air museum where we’ll explore the Forgotten Cave Churches of Cappadocia. These astonishing rock cut cave churches were decorated with richly decorated with colourful frescoes and are truly a sight to behold.

After our visit, we will head to Goreme village to have lunch and join an interesting carpet demonstration. In the afternoon, we will visit Monk’s Valley, which has the most impressive collection of fairy chimneys and the historic Avanos Village.

Our last stop for the day will be ceramic master Chez Galip’s place for a pottery demonstration. For dinner this evening we will be hosted by our local friends at a small cave café called Typical Turkish house.

This morning we’ll be driving to Kayseri Airport for our domestic flight to Izmir, the 3rd largest city on the West Coast of Turkey. Izmir has a very colourful history - it was founded by the Greeks, taken over by the Romans and then rebuilt by Alexander the Great before becoming part of the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century. Today it houses an expansive collection of archaeological sites. Upon our arrival, we will head to the Izmir Museum of History and Art to check out masterpieces from ancient Smyrna, Teos, Miletos and Pergamon. After our visit to the museum, we will take a short break at the hotel before hitting the streets of Izmir. Our guide will take us on an orientation walk of the city, with a couple of tasting stops included along our way. Being the capital of Aegean cuisine in Turkey, Izmir offers many street food delights! Our last stop of the day will be a local tavern called ‘meyhane’ to try the national drink of Turkey – rakı – with some mezes.

Following breakfast at the hotel this morning we will set out for Ephesus, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best preserved ancient cities in all of Turkey. After a guided tour through the magnificent timeworn monuments here, we will break for lunch, tasting ‘gözleme’ (Turkish pancakes) at a local lodge.

Next we will continue on to Selcuk, known as the gateway to Ephesus, a vast, ancient city with the remains of a large theater and the Library of Celsus. Here we’ll visit one of the wonders from Ancient times, the Artemis Temple. It was completely rebuilt three times, and in its final form was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Today we’ll be heading north, off to the ancient city of Troy. A UNESCO World Heritage site with 4,000 years of history, it is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. The siege of Troy by Spartan and Achaean warriors from Greece in the 13th or 12th century B.C., immortalized by Homer in the Iliad, has inspired great creative artists throughout the world ever since.

After our visit to Troy, we will continue to Çanakkale, the biggest city established around the Dardanelles Strait. Here we will get to see the real horse used for the movie set of Troy. We will be spending the evening at leisure in this beautiful port city.

We begin quite early this morning to cross the Dardanelles Strait on our way towards the Gallipoli peninsula - the European part of Turkey. Here we will visit the Gallipoli battlefields, a well preserved national historic park strewn with marble and bronze monuments and among the most emotionally touching places in Turkey. Our guide will inform us about the region, World War I and the importance of Gallipoli in both Anzac and Turkish history. We will also visit the Kabatepe Museum, where we will be able to see various halls inside showing Gallipoli battles with panoramic displays, simulations and animations.

After a delicious lunch in a local spot, we will drive on to Istanbul where upon arrival, you may spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Today we get to enjoy a sightseeing tour of Istanbul, a fascinating city straddling Europe and Asia, reflecting an exotic blend of cultural influences of the many empires that once ruled here. We will begin at the Hippodrome of Constantinople, which used to be the center of the city in Roman, Byzantium and Ottoman times, acting as an important sporting and social centre. Next, we will go into the iconic Blue Mosque, witnessing the most exquisite tile examples from the 17th century. Some say that these beautiful blue İznik tiles give the mosque its name, but others say that many years ago, ancient sailors who sailed by the mosque on the Marmara Sea saw the blue colors of the sea reflected in the mosque, and hence the name. Following this will be a stop at the Grand Bazaar, which is the biggest historical covered market on the planet. Packed with over 3,000 stalls, you’ll see handcrafted jewellery, textiles and books and have a chance to explore the famous Spice Market.

This morning we will be visiting one of the most important symbols of the city – the beautiful Hagia Sophia Museum, which was established as a Church, then converted to a mosque and a Museum at the present time. Its jaw-dropping construction is said to have changed the history of architecture. Next we will visit the Underground Basilica Cistern, the largest of several hundred ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city, built in the 6th century. Our last place to visit today will be the Spice Market, to check out the best examples of spices, baklava and Turkish delight to be found in the city.

Following this you will have free time until the farewell dinner this evening. Our guide will take us to a restaurant called ‘Mukellef’, which is owned by a local celebrity chef with an outstanding 1.5M followers on Instagram! Here you will enjoy a final delicious dinner with your fellow travellers at this very special place, swapping stories about the highlights of your fantastic tour.

HOW TO EXTEND YOUR STAY Some customers like to enhance their holiday by extending their stay pre- and/or post-tour. If you wish to do so, please follow these steps:

Here, please specify your preferred flight arrangements and if you require additional accommodation, with the number of nights needed. 3. After finalising your purchase and submitting your booking form, a member of our team will be in contact with you via email to verify your request.

Please note, a supplement of $150 per person (plus any applicable fare and tax differences) applies to deviate from the standard itinerary. We will contact you via email with a quote and proposed flight itinerary, and then proceed with collecting the additional payment required to confirm your request.

All additional accommodation and sightseeing is at your own arrangement, or alternatively we can offer the following rates:

ACCOMMODATION The accommodation listed is subject to change. Any changes will be of an equal or higher standard. Bedding configurations (double or twin) are requests only. All efforts will be made to meet your preferences however any changes are beyond our control.

Please note, as you'll be travelling to Jordan as part of an organised tour the Jordanian government has waived the visa requirements. On arrival in to Jordan you will be met by our airport representative prior to immigration. They will then escort you through the immigration process.
