“Across the Universe” Strumming Pattern “Across The Universe” Strumming Pattern: Performance Notes: There’s nothing special about this song. The pattern is very simple; however remember to add that tied note at the end of each chord phrase. That will allow you to transition back to the original pattern of the song. This is an absolute pleasure to play, and though this version is more of the Rupert Wainwright version where it’s much more ‘intimate,’ the song itself has the overall same approach as the original. • Apple Label Discography
Apple Label Discography 100-800 series (Capitol numbering series) Apple Records was formed by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr in 1968. The Apple label was intended as a vehicle for the Beatles, their individual recordings and the talent they discovered. A great deal of what appeared on Apple was pretty self indulgent and experimental but they did discover a few good singers and groups. James Taylor recorded his first album on the label. Doris Troy recorded a good soul album and there are 2 albums by John Lewis and the Modern Jazz Quartet. The Beatlesque group Badfinger also issued several albums on the label, the best of which was “Straight Up”. Apple Records fell apart in management chaos in 1974 and 1975 and a bitter split between the Beatles over the management of the company. Once the lawyers got involved everybody was suing everybody else over the collapse. The parody of the Beatles rise and the disintegration of Apple is captured hilariously in the satire “All You Need Is Cash: the story of the Rutles”. The Apple label on side 1 is black with a picture of a green apple on it, black printing. The label on side 2 is a picture of ½ an apple. From November 1968 until early 1970 at the bottom of the label was “MFD. BY CAPITOL RECORDS, INC. A SUBSIDIARY OF CAPITOL INDUSTRIES INC. USA”. From Early 1970 to late 1974, at the bottom of the label is “MFD. BY APPLE RECORDS” From late 1974 through 1975, there was a notation under the “MFD.

1 PLAYLIST JANUARY 19TH 2014 BROADCAST LIVE FROM THE KOBE STEAKHOUSE SEAL BEACH, CA 1 2 9AM The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour - Magical Mystery Tour (EP) (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocals: Paul and John When Paul McCartney was in the U.S. in early April 1967 he came up with the idea for a Beatles television film about a mystery tour on a bus. During the April 11 flight back home he began writing lyrics for the title song and sketching out some ideas for the film. Upon his arrival in London, Paul pitched his idea to Brian Epstein who happily approved. Paul then met with John to go over the details and the two began work on the film’s title track. The title track was written primarily by Paul but was not finished when McCartney brought the song in to be recorded on April 25, 1967. John helped with 2 3 the missing pieces during the session. The Beatles - The Fool On The Hill - Magical Mystery Tour (EP) (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: Paul Sitting alone at the piano, Paul McCartney recorded a mono two-track demo of “The Fool On the Hill” on September 6, 1967. A more proper recording would take place September 25. On the 25th three takes of the basic rhythm track were recorded, including harmonicas played by John and George. Paul first brought the song to John’s attention in mid-March while the two were working on the lyrics for “With A Little Help From My Friends.” John said to write down the lyrics so he wouldn’t forget them.

  • The Music of the Beatles
Christian Cappelluti The music of the Beatles I was driving my car down Peters Creek the other night, and I had the radio on. All of a sudden, they played a very beautiful song; a song with a sweet, mellow, memorable melody, and a mesmerizing and intriguing harmony. This song had something very peculiar about it, something which made it sound simple, sincere, and spontaneous, but also refined and classy, at the same time. It was one of those songs that make me wish there were more like them, even if it was not the first time that I had listened to it. Actually, I had probably listened to that song for the first time when I was a child, and since then I must have listened to it many other times. While I turned the radio a little bit louder, I started thinking about the band who wrote and sang that song, and how great it was at composing music that we all still love, thirty years later. The name of the song was "Michelle" and the band who wrote it, as we all know, is "The Beatles". The Beatles was a band that really brought something new and valuable to the world of modern music, something for which all pop and rock musicians who came after them should be very thankful. The Beatles was the first world famous self-contained band that wrote its own songs, and turned the last name of the authors (Lennon/McCartney) into a guarantee of quality. The Beatles was the first band that experimented with different production and sound engineering techniques, using a variety of instruments on its records, ranging from the string quartet in "Yesterday", to the full orchestra in "All you need is love", from the alarm clock in "A day in the life" to the backwards-rolling tapes in "Strawberry Fields Forever".

1 Playlist Nov. 22nd 2015 9AM 2 The Beatles - Back In The U.S.S.R. - The Beatles (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: Paul Written while in India, Paul’s “Back In The U.S.S.R.” is based on Chuck Berry’s 1959 hit “Back In The U.S.A.,” but was written to mimic the classic sound of the Beach Boys. Beach Boys lead singer Mike Love was on the Transcendental Meditation sojourn in India with the Beatles in the spring of 1968 and as McCartney was working on his new song, Love suggested the lyrics about Ukraine and Moscow girls, similar to his lyrics in “California Girls.” Recording began on August 22, 1968, and it was during this session that Ringo Starr officially quit the band. His departure was blamed on a disagreement with Paul over his drumming. Ringo flew to the Mediterranean to spend time on actor Peter Sellers’ yacht. It was there that he wrote “Octopus’s Garden.” On September 3, Ringo returned to the studio to find his drum kit smothered in flowers. Ringo: “I felt tired and discouraged … took a week’s holiday, and when I came back to work everything was all right again.” But Ringo added, “Paul is the greatest bass guitar player in the world. But he is also very determined; he goes on and on to see if he can get his own way. While that may be a virtue, it did mean that musical disagreements inevitably arose from time to time.” To keep the sessions moving forward in Ringo’s absence, the other members, but primarily Paul, played drums on several songs.
