PAUL WOJNO COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 9, 2019 A meeting of the Senate Committee on Health Policy and Human Services was scheduled for Thursday, May 9, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., in the 1100 Room of the Binsfeld Building. The agenda summary is as follows: 1. Reported HB 4367 (S-2) (Rep. Sheppard) with recommendation and immediate effect. 2. Reported SB 200 (S-1) (Sen. Wojno) with recommendation and immediate effect. 3. Reported SB 282 (S-1) (Sen. VanderWall) with recommendation and immediate effect. 4. Reported SB 283 (Sen. Lucido) with recommendation and immediate effect. 5. Reported SR 20 (Sen. Theis) with recommendation. 6. Presentation by Great Lakes Health Connect regarding the organization and its function. The Chairman called the meeting to order at 1:02 p.m. He instructed the Clerk to call the roll. At that time, the following members were present: Chairman VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno, a quorum was present. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Bizon to adopt the meeting minutes from April 25, 2019. Without objection, the minutes were adopted. The Chairman read the cards of those individuals not wishing to present testimony regarding HB 4367, SB 200, SB 282, and SB 283: Thadd Gormas, Michigan Academy of Physicians Assistants – Support Gary Owen, Michigan Library Association – Support The Chairman brought up the (S-2) version of HB 4367 which was adopted during the April 25, 2019 committee meeting. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Johnson to report the (S-2) version of HB 4367 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. Page 1 of 3 The Chairman made a motion to recommend immediate effect for HB 4367 (S-2). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chairman brought up the (S-1) version of SB 200 which was adopted during the April 25, 2019 committee meeting. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Brinks to report the (S-1) version of SB 200 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chairman made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 200 (S-1). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chairman brought up the (S-1) version of SB 282 which was adopted during the April 25, 2019 committee meeting. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Wojno to report the (S-1) version of SB 282 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The Chairman made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 282 (S-1). Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. LaSata to report SB 283 to the floor with recommendation that it pass. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the bill was reported. The Chairman made a motion to recommend immediate effect for SB 283. Without objection, immediate effect was recommended. The Chairman invited Sen. Theis to summarize SR 20. The Chairman invited the following individuals to present testimony regarding SR 20: Brian Shuell, Citizen – Support The Chairman entertained a motion by Sen. Brinks to report SR 20 to the floor with recommendation that it adopted. The vote was as follows: Yeas: Chairman VanderWall, Sen.(s) Bizon, Johnson, LaSata, MacDonald, Theis, Brinks, Hertel, Santana, and Wojno Nays: None The motion prevailed and the resolution was reported. There being no further business before the committee, the Chairman moved to adjourn the committee.
