In the upcoming weeks masonry repairs will begin at Sacred Heart Church. A Pennacchi & Sons, LLC has been contracted at a cost of $28,745 with some additional venting of boiler work to be completed by Scott Martin Services Inc. This necessary and high priority project is one of several identified to be completed using our Capital Appeal funds.

In the Spring of 2022 we plan to replace the roof at St. Ann Church. The contractor for the roof work is yet to be determined as we have five quotes ranging from $95,000 to $195,000 to be considered. MARY MAJOR – This Thursday (August 5) we will celebrate the memorial of the Dedication of the Basilica PARISH PICNIC – Mark your calendars and plan to of St. Mary Major in . After nearly four centuries of attend our Parish Picnic on the Rectory Lawn on Sunday living the faith, the successors of the Apostles, led by the September 26. More details to follow… Holy Spirit, reached the point from which they could see that Mary was not just the mother of Jesus but that Mary is also the Mother of God! Shortly after this declaration in 381 A.D. by the Council of Ephesus, this building became the first major church in the West erected in honor of Mary.

SO WHAT? – Are we Catholics plagued with “edifice complexes” or is there something of value here? The day after he was elected to succeed St. Peter, Francis went to St. Mary Major to pray. Before and after each of his overseas apostolic journeys, our current Pope stops into this building to pray. Who is this woman who St. Ann has a parish-wide license with Bishop Robert informs his choices and to whom he brings his questions? Barron’s Word on Fire! That means you have access to the Word on Fire Digital Library. This is a premium “MARY, MARY QUITE CONTRARY” – goes the nursery rhyme about a past queen of England. That said, membership to the vast and amazing library of Bishop the Mary of Nazareth we encounter in the Gospels is Barron’s video series such as Catholicism, The quite contrary to many cultures and to many ages. She Mass, The Eucharist, Mystery of God, and more. The proclaims that her spirit finds joy in the God who easy way for you to access the Word on Fire Digital confuses the proud in their inmost hearts; who casts down the mighty from their thrones; who lifts up the Library is to parcipate in our parish emails from lowly; who fills the hungry with good things; and who Flocknote. When we send emails containing Bishop sends the rich away empty.” (Luke 1:46-56) Barron videos, those videos will automacally include an easy access point for members to view the full AN ANTIDOTE TO POLARIZATION – After the shepherds had left the manger, we read that Mary “kept Word on Fire Digital Library. Visit our church at: all these things, reflecting on them in her heart” (Luke flocknote.com/StAnnPhx 2:19). Later, in the Temple after had acknowledged her son as the Messiah and predicted Jesus’ rejection and Mary’s suffering, we read, “his Pope’s Universal Intention for August mother kept all these things in her heart” (Luke 2:51). The inspired Greek word for “keeping” means literally “to The Church attend to carefully together” and in a secondary sense “to Let us pray for the Church, that she may receive not throw away”. Everyone counts. from the Holy Spirit the grace and strength to reform herself in the light of the Gospel. Page 4 St.StS AnAAnnnn( ((026)02602 ) Can you believe Holy Family Counting Our Blessings!
