It is also designed to be a resource for health professionals working in cancer care within the community. A diagnosis of cancer can pose many challenges. They can range from the practical, like how to get to a distant medical appointment, to the emotionally complex, like thinking about life and death. The services listed in this directory can help with many of these challenges. To make things easier, services are grouped together into sections. You will find a list of the sections available in the Table of Contents. If you are in search of a particular service, a detailed index is located at the back of this directory. If you would like more details about any of the services listed in the directory, or are looking for a service that isn’t listed, contact the Cancer Council Information and Support 13 11 20. If there is any service missing from this edition that you would like to see included in future editions, or if current listings need to be updated, please contact Cancer Council Southern Region Office on (02) 4223 0200. 2 | Introduction Information About Cancer Becoming informed about a cancer diagnosis can reduce stress through understanding. Cancer Council offers a wide range of information for people diagnosed with cancer, their families and friends, which has been developed in collaboration with cancer experts and people affected by cancer. This includes information on specifi c types of cancer, treatments, coping with cancer, practical issues and life after cancer. This is available as printed booklets, and online as PDFs and eBooks. These free publications are available by calling Cancer Council Information and Support on 13 11 20 or visiting cancercouncil.org.au Canteen Useful Cancer Websites canteen.org.au Many look to the internet for information on cancer. Although there are many reputable sites, unfortunately there are also Leukaemia Foundation many that provide inaccurate and misleading information.
