FAVOURED FILLIES DRAW WIDE IN SLIPPER HENDERSON BREATHING Houtzen (Aus) (I Am Invincible {Aus}) and She Will Reign (Aus) RAREFIED AIR (Manhattan Rain {Aus}), the top two betting choices for Saturday=s A$3.5-million G1 Longines Golden Slipper, did not fare wonderfully in the draw for the world=s richest juvenile race on Tuesday, landing in barriers 16 and 13, respectively. The trainers of both fillies were looking on the bright side, however, as rain continued to fall at Rosehill during the draw. "I was a bit deflated to start with but you look at the weather outside right now, it might be the best barrier,@ Toby Edmonds, who trains the unbeaten Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Houtzen, told Racing.com. "If you draw close and you get that pressure from the outside we could end up in an awkward spot in behind horses and copping a lot of the backwash, so the draw might not be that bad." While Elliott was responsible for a trio of those wins, Tuesday very much belonged to Henderson, who increased his tally as the most successful trainer at the Festival to 57--11 ahead of Mullins. Thirty-two years after the famously fragile See You Then (GB) ( {GB}) won the first of three consecutive Champion Hurdles for the Lambourn trainer, Henderson returned to the Prestbury Park winner's enclosure with a record sixth victory in the race courtesy of Buveur d'Air (Fr) (Crillon {Fr}), who led home his stablemate My Tent Or Yours (Ire) ( {Fr}), the latter settling for the bridesmaid role for the third consecutive year. "You feel sorry for My Tent Or Yours," said the trainer. "It's wonderful--we have won the Champion Hurdle--but that is now three Champion Hurdles he has been second in as well as a Supreme Novices' Hurdle. What else can you say about a horse who has done that again and again? He has been sensational. But the youngster has got home, and that is great." "Nicky insisted that Buveur d'Air went back to hurdling and in the end I let him have his way," admitted McManus, who also owns the race favourite, Yanworth (GB) (Norse Dancer {GB}), who faded into a disappointing seventh after starting to struggle at the third-last. 2017: BIG WINNERS SO FAR ORB COLT LEADS by Bill Oppenheim THE WAY AT OBS Curlin retired at the end of 2008 with record earnings for a North American-trained horse of $10,501,800. California Chrome broke his record last year, and retired after the GI Pegasus World Cup with new record earnings of $14,752,650. After winning the Pegasus, >TDN Rising Star= Arrogate (Unbridled=s Song) now has earnings of $11,084,600; if he wins the G1 Dubai World Cup, for which he=s odds-on, with fellow Americans Gun Runner (Candy Ride {Arg}) and Neolithic (Harlan=s Holiday) to beat, he=ll become the new record-holder with over $17 million, and if he should go on to win the GI Breeders= Cup Classic as well, he=d retire the earner of over $20 million. Of course, it all sounds so simple when it trips off your tongue, and we all know the many pitfalls between imagining it and it actually happening, but if he stays healthy, gets a clean run and wins two more races it could actually happen. Cont. p14 $1.25-million Orb colt heading to the sales ring | C Stafford IN TDN EUROPE TODAY by Brian DiDonato & Steve Sherack OCALA, Florida--Continued strength at the top end and a diverse HENDERSON BREATHING RAREFIED AIR buying bench fueled by an influx of new money led to a strong Nicky Henderson increased his win tally as the most day of trade at the opening session of the Ocala Breeders= Sales successful trainer at the Cheltenham Festival to 57 on Company=s March Sale of 2-Year-Olds Tuesday. The RNA rate was 34.1%. At the conclusion of last year=s first session, 160 horses sold for $25,718,500. The average was $160,741 and median was $115,000. After OBS added subsequent post-sale transactions, the gross climbed to $26,418,500, while the average ended up at $156,322 and median was $110,000. Hip 127, an Orb colt consigned by Crupi=s New Castle Farm, Agent V topped the session with a $1.25-million winning bid from agents Solis and Litt. There were several new buyers at the top end of the market, including Saudi Arabian Amr Zedan, Margaret Fauber=s Rattler Racing and agent Kerri Radcliffe. AI think we got off to a good start,@ OBS president Tom Ventura said. AIt certainly was very strong at the top end. Of the top 10 horses sold, there were nine different buyers. So, at the top, there was a lot of competition. Below that, it was similar to what we=ve seen at previous sales, but some of the RNAs have been getting sold, so from that aspect we=ll wait until the sale is over before making a complete assessment.@ Cont. p3 $320,000 FIRST 2-YEAR-OLD AT OBS MARCH Fourth-highest price by a freshman sire on Day 1

Orb Colt Out of This World at OBS March A colt from the first crop of 2013 GI Kentucky Derby winner Orb (Malibu Moon) was the only juvenile to reach the seven-figure mark at OBS March Tuesday, topping the first day of trade when bringing $1.25 million from the partnership of the Roth family=s LNJ Foxwoods and Nancy Favreau and Kathy Psoinos.
