You will become familiar with all its attachments, in order to carrying out singular treatments or combining several, or all, attachments. Objectives: To achieve the aim we will cover the following: What is hydra 6 therapy machine? What is Hydro-dermabrasion? What is Skin scrubbing? What is Radio Frequency? What is Ultrasonic? What is Cryotherapy? What is Oxygen therapy? Benefits and effects of each element Contra-indications and Contra-actions Practical application of each element Aftercare Maintenance of the machine Setting the machine up for a treatment Things to consider before using electrical therapies…. Enhance Me training Academy 2021 Hydra 6 Training Manual Which therapies fall under my scope of practice? If you currently perform facial treatments on clients then the addition of electrical devices can further enhance your treatments and keep existing clients interested. If you lack skin care and facial treatment knowledge, and skills, you may want to build on this first before adding in advanced facial therapies. Do I have the right insurance coverage? If you have a Level 3 beauty therapy that includes electrical facial therapies then you will require no additional insurance. Anything else you will have to check with your individual insurer as they will all vary. If you have a facial qualification then you may need to check and add electrical facial therapies to your current cover if they are happy to cover with the accreditation. Electrical therapies have additional contra-indications that may not be a ‘normal’ contra-indication to a standard facial treatment. This creates an additional level of risk hence the need for extra insurance. What is the goal of the treatment? Often electrical therapies can affect the relaxation element of a facial treatments. This can be due to additional noise or sensations from the device may produce. Electrical devices are used to further increase the skincare benefits for the client. If the clients main goal/treatment expectation is to improve the condition of their skin then electrical devices will be great. If the clients’ main goal/expectation is to relax then including electrical devices may reduce the relaxation element of the treatment and affect the clients’ experience. Which attachment will complement the relevant treatment step? Individual treatment plans, and facial routines, can be create to target specific concerns. You can use the examples, that are suggested, in this training or make up your own. Does the product I have selected work with the technology? This can seem confusing but there is specific products needed for specific electrical therapies. The chemistry comes down to positive and negatively ions in products to create a circuit on the skin. It is always important that you learn and understand the technology behind each treatment to get the best benefits for your clients without causing harm. Knowledge is the key in becoming a competent practitioner. Attachment 1: Hydro-dermabrasion Enhance Me training Academy 2021 Hydra 6 Training Manual What is Hydro-dermabrasion? Simply broken down… Hydro = Water Derma = Layers of the skin Abrasion= Abrasive rubbing or removing (Desquamation) Hydro-dermabrasion is an advanced form of exfoliation using water. A clinical procedure that uses a water jet, combined with a variety of applicator heads and a vacuum suction, to remove the outer layers of the epidermis whilst helping to release comedones, every day dirt and grime whilst helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and scarring. It is a treatment can be performed on a variety of areas on the face and body, including the neck, chest, back and hands. Hydro-dermabrasion is a deeply effective treatment for renewing a fresh, young-looking glow to your skin. It is one of the simplest and least disruptive skin treatments to have. What are the benefits and effects of Hydro-dermabrasion? There are many benefits of Hydro-dermabrasion. As a non-surgical method of skin rejuvenation, Hydro-dermabrasion is quick, convenient, and painless, immediately restoring younger, smoother looking skin without the need for chemicals, lasers or injectables. Gentler than Microdermabrasion, yet equally as effective, so more versatile, and perfect for those with more sensitive skins. Hydro- dermabrasion encourages cell renewal, which means your skin will benefit from improved elasticity, a smoother texture and reduced signs of ageing. We all have days when our skin looks tired, dull and uneven. Breakouts, blotches and larger pores can leave anyone feeling self-conscious about their skin, normally skin renews itself approximately every 28 days. By removing dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin, Hydro-dermabrasion speeds up the rate at which the skin would normally renew itself – ridding you of tired and dull patches and revealing new, fresh skin and giving a radiant glow. It can help with keeping congested skins clear, however, this treatment is not to be done over active acne as it can spread the bacteria. It helps to keep the pores clear so therefore stopping the bacteria from activating. Enhance Me training Academy 2021 Hydra 6 Training Manual Attachment 2: Skin Scrubber (exfoliation) Treatment. What is a Skin Scrubber? A handheld, mechanical exfoliation technique using vibration technology. Sometimes referred to as microcurrent or high frequency ultrasonic device or skin spatula. This performs a deep exfoliation using a deep and concentrated vibration technology that can penetrate deep into the epidermal layers of the skin. The vibration gently shakes and dislodges the cells, allowing any trapped or built up dirt, blackheads (comedones) and the dead skin, to become loose or free. When a little pressure is applied to the skin as it glides across the skin, it can be swiftly removed with the blade edge within a single pass. The blade is held at a 45 degree angle and must be performed over dampened/wet skin using a substance such as desincrustation gel or ultrasound gel. This will produce a fine visible moisture mist. What are the benefits and effects of the Skin Scrubber? As a non-surgical method of skin clearing and Purifying, using the skin scrubber is quick, convenient, and painless, without the need for chemicals or lasers leaving the skin looking brighter and clearer The skin benefits from the ultrasonic sound waves, which propels surface moisture from the tip of the blade, rapidly into the follicles and back out again. This helps to purifying the skin, by removing the superficial dirt and sebum for a targeted deep exfoliation action It is a completely painless technique, a method that can be used on a variety of different areas on the body, especially where, blocked pores can form, The shape of the stainless steel head means it can get into almost any position, causing no redness, swelling or discomfort of any kind making ideal for those sensitive areas or hard to reach areas. Can be used quite safely alongside other treatments, all skin types and most skin conditions. On the machine labels this attachment is described as high frequency. The uses ultrasonic vibrations and is not the high-frequency that produces ozone (a completely different treatment) Enhance Me training Academy 2021 Hydra 6 Training Manual Attachment 3 Radio Frequency (RF) Treatment. What is Radio Frequency? Radiofrequency (RF) therapy, also called radiofrequency skin tightening, is a nonsurgical method of tightening your skin, by stimulating collagen and elastin. The procedure involves using energy waves to heat the deep layer of your skin known as your dermis. This heat stimulates the fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin. Collagen is the most common protein in your body. It creates the framework of your skin and gives your skin its firmness. As we age, our cells produce less collagen and are elastin becomes weaker. This leads to sagging skin and wrinkles as the quantity and quality begins to decline. With a radio frequency current the generating machine flows only through the tissue which is between the electrodes/prongs on the hand piece; these electrodes start and complete the electrical circuit. No current flows through the rest of the body, so no grounding or return pad is needed. It is the resistance to the current flow in the tissue, not the electrode that generates the heating effect. RF waves heat the deep layer of your skin to between 122 and 167°F (50–75°C). By maintaining a temperature over 115°F (46°C) for over 3 minutes causes your body to release heat- shock proteins.
