But just when he had his whole life ahead of him, Kevin became victim to opiate addiction, which lead to the beginning of a seven year battle with recovery and relapse.

FORGIVING KEVIN is the true story of a father’s unwavering effort to try and save his beloved son from the horrors of addiction. But before Larry can save his son, he first must learn to let go and fight every fiber in his body to control the situation. DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT That’s a picture of Kevin Glenz in between my two older brothers. The three of them were line-mates and three of the most decorated lacrosse players in Lynbrook High School history. They won State Championships. They set records. They led Lynbrook to heights the proud program had never been to. And they did it all under the tutelage of Larry Glenz, Kevin’s father, and head lacrosse coach. At the time, I was in middle school and the team’s biggest fan. I revered these three. I wanted to be just like them. To this day, those seasons in 1999 and 2000 stand out as some of my fondest memories. And I wasn’t even a part of them! Just a fan. But their success captured the attention of the entire town, creating a cult-like following. Like that of Texas High School football.

At first when I reconnected with Coach Glenz in 2017 – a man I count as one of the most influential figures in my life – and we began discussing adapting his book into a feature film, I feared letting him and the Lynbrook community down if I couldn’t deliver a film to the quality deserving of Kevin’s story. But after we continued to talk, I realized there’s likely not a more appropriate director to author this film. Directing is all about making it personal…and this story’s a personal one for me.

FORGIVING KEVIN is not a story about a drug addict. It’s a family drama centered around a metaphorical wrestling match between a father & son, player & coach. It’s about love, sacrifice and patience. It follows the personal journey a father must go through in order to help the one he loves most. As Coach Glenz says in his book, “Kevin was my biggest test.” That’s our movie in a nutshell. A story about a father refusing to allow his will to save his son be broken, no matter how hard his son tests him.
