DIRECTIONS By Car - Cross the Tamar Bridge in a westerly direction along the A38, passing through the villages of Landrake and Tideford. Immediately after the village of Tideford turn left as signed for St Germans on the B3249. By Sea - Arriving by water, plan to arrive 3 hours either side of HW Plymouth. Passing the historic Dockyard, the convergence of the Rivers Lynher and Tamar will be seen to port, the white day mark on Henn Point is a useful point to steer to. Head west and the Lynher buoy marks the start of the Lynher and St Germans River. A well-marked channel snakes past small craft moorings and Jupiter Point. The river heads south west and widens and deeper water stays closer to the northern bank. Pass the renowned Dandy Hole anchorage, in deep water that sweeps around the tree lined bend between Warren Point and Redshank Point, continue upstream in the channel marked by posts as the channel curves its way up towards St Germans Quay, where the friendly Quay Sailing Club will be found which has a pontoon and mooring by arrangement.     THE Camelfordian SEPTEMBER 2013 EDITORIAL It’s nice to be back after the Summer break and my comment this month is regarding what a contrary bunch we are! I could not help but note the number of occasions when conversations in the warm weather were full of sighs and wishes for some rain to perk up the garden and give some relief from the balmy nights when sleep was difficult. And now we have wetter weather there are those of us who look back to the weather with a sense of loss. I can understand a preoccupation with the weather when your liveli- hood depends on it, if you have to work outside or you have a dog with very appealing eyes who needs exercise whatever the conditions, but I believe that the variety is something to be cherished. Wouldn’t it be boring if the daffodils sprung from the soil or the star- lings returned on the same day every year? And what would we talk about?     Creative Workspace Demand Study: Penzance and Liskeard Prepared for Cornwall Council by Final report - November 2019 1 Executive Summary Evidence of UK Policy driving workspace demand The continued growth of the creative industries at twice the national average resulted in an early sector deal as part of the Industrial Strategy. Cornwall was highlighted for its strategic support for creative businesses through Cornwall Council, CIOS LEP and the Cultivator programme. However, despite being based on the Bazalgette Independent review of the creative industries which identified flexible, low-cost workspaces as essential infrastructure for growth, the creative industries sector deal has only made provision for investment in workspace through the Culture Development Fund. Cornwall was ineligible for this urban centred fund. If businesses are to grow jobs, they will need appropriate workspaces and until Post Brexit funding is confirmed, ERDF funding may be the last opportunity to secure capital investment for these schemes. Stakeholder demand In both locations, there was strong stakeholder demand for the towns to be known for their creativity. The schemes were therefore about making visible and connecting creative practice in order to achieve a range of goals from inspiring the next generation to attracting visitors. There was also evidence of support for the development of spaces which could facilitate cross-sector working which is an important condition for creative business growth. Demand for workspace 65% of those who responded to the survey were interested in renting a workspace. Most respondents – 78% - would be interested in renting their own personal space. 35 creative businesses expressed definite or possible interest in Penzance.
