[email protected] Abstract This paper addresses a sampling procedure for estimating the random arrival rule in bankruptcy sit- uations. It is based on simple random sampling with replacement and it adapts an estimation method of the Shapley value for transferable utility games, especially useful when dealing with large-scale problems. Its performance is analysed through the establishment of theoretical statistical properties and bounds for the incurred error. Furthermore, this tool is evaluated on two well-studied examples in literature where this allocation rule can be exactly calculated. Finally, we apply this sampling method to provide a new quota for the milk market in Galicia (Spain). After the abolition of the milk European quota system in April 2015, this region represents an example where dairy farmers suffered a massive economic impact after investing heavily in modernising their farms. The resulting quota estimator is compared with two classical rules in bankruptcy literature. E-mail address: 9 [email protected]. 10 11 ABSTRACT 12 The efficiency of home composting programmes and the quality of the produced 13 compost was evaluated in eight rural areas carrying out home composting programmes 14 (up to 880 composting bins) for all household biowaste including meat and fish 15 leftovers. Efficiency was analysed in terms of reduction of organic waste collected by 16 the municipal services. An efficiency of 77% on average was obtained, corresponding to 17 a composting rate of 126 kg/person·year of biowaste (or 380 kg/composter·year). 18 Compost quality was determined for a total of 90 composting bins. The operation of 19 composting bins by users was successful, as indicated by a low C/N ratio (10-15), low 20 inappropriate materials (or physical contaminant materials, mean of 0.27±0.44 % dry 21 matter), low heavy metal content (94% of samples met required standards for 22 agricultural use) and high nutrient content (2.1% N, 0.6% P, 2.5% K, 0.7% Mg and 23 3.7% Ca on average, dry matter). The high moisture (above 70% in 48% of the samples) 24 did not compromise the compost quality. Results of this study show that home 25 composting of household organic waste including meat and fish leftovers is a feasible 26 practice.
